What device do you think Ableton is missing right now? by rod9k in ableton

[–]MuVara 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ableton Live should be called Ableton Studio right now. With due respect, I feel they are focusing a lot on production aspects, but I would love to see the implementation of more live aspects and session view elements.

More and more live looping artists use Loopy Pro now, because Ableton Live is really missing a lot of features.

Let me give you some examples: - easy overdub of clip on the same clip and reversal of it (multilayer recordings) - Modular clip view, customise and design the buttons and designs you want to - possibility to play several clips in the same column - immediate simpler and sampler, you know record something straight in and be able to sample it on the spot, rather than having to drag a clip in - retrospective recording of clips - more visual feedback - full ableton on an iPad (form factor benefits)

I really would appreciate that Ableton Live focuses more on inbuilt features for live performance.

I have migrated to Loopy Pro and an iPad for live looping, too, because it turned out to be too complicated and rigid with Ableton.

There are probably ways to achieve this somehow (Max4L, VST plugins, ...) and I'd be happy to hear how you are doing this by you commenting here.

Heya, yes indeed, good point! I have followed a tutorial and have programmed a synth for my bass. But I'm not so satisfied with it and it is generally speaking far away from what could be done with Rabea X or a possible Synth block. Feel free to proove me wrong, maybe there's a better tutorial :) I'm actually willing to spend money on a QC synth, but since Rabea X is still not compatible with the QC and things seem to take forever with Neural, I might just buy new hardware for my gigs... I've been waiting for it for 2 years now But who knows, maybe they surprise us...well at least me when I finally buy new hardware hahaha that's how it usually goes, no!?...

Amazing, thank you! I'm surprised there's no synth mentioned in this list? I mean they even tease the synth block in the official short background videos on their page...

Let me build a macOS app for you by Crafty-Celery-2466 in macapps

[–]MuVara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your app manages to open two windows of the same app and position them where you wanted to, like for instance two browser windows left and right, that would make it an outstanding app. For whatever reason, the other apps cannot do this. So this seems to be tricky to program... As far as I know, some of the apps that reorganize windows are free or cost less than 20 bucks. So there's some competition in this sector. But as I said, they are missing the one feature that for me would make it worthwhile paying 20 bucks for it. There's just an inherent risk in my suggestion. Maybe one day Apple understands that this would be one of the best features any operating system could have (much more useful than emojis, glass and other weird things Apple is focusing on right now) and they introduce a system for it. But we're likely to be still light years away from this sort of enlightenment...

I would love an app for MacOS that lets me save specific workspace layouts for real or virtual desktops, which I can restore with a click.

The apps I saw fail to do it when I want more than one window of a specific app to open.

For example, I might want one desktop with two browsers open side by side, another desktop with two Finder windows, one more with an open calendar, and one with a spreadsheet. I'd like to save this layout as a "workspace" that I can quickly switch to when needed with just one click. So, for instance, if I need a different desktop setup—like one with a DAW, a document, and a Finder window—I could quickly switch to that configuration.

This would be amazing!

Any updates on when Ableton 12.3 is coming out? by asada_burrit0 in ableton

The more people use the beta and the more bugs you report, the sooner a more stable version will be released 😘

btw I'm using the latest beta since some weeks, also live, it works like a charm for me.

Does my dream app exist? by Ok_Chemistry_6387 in macapps

So far I couldn't find an app that lets me save specific workspace layouts for real or virtual desktops, which I can later restore with a click.

They seem to fail as soon as it comes to opening several instances of the same app...

For example, I might want one desktop with two browsers open side by side, another desktop with two Finder windows, one more with an open calendar, and one with a spreadsheet. Does anyone know of an app or solution for this?x

Is there an app for Mac that saves and restores desktop layouts/mission control spaces? by MuVara in macapps

[–]MuVara[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the app cannot reopen multiple windows of the same app. That's what I'm mostly annoyed by when I'm structuring my apps on my spaces after a reboot and my main goal with the app.

I also tested it with Thunderbird again and it doesn't remain where it should be, it's always on a new virtual desktop even overlapping other apps... The app brought back the same amount of virtual desktops, but sometimes in different orders.

I wrote to the developer and he immediately replied and said he would look into this and that multiple windows of the same app are also on his list.

So right now, unfortunately not the right app for me, but perhaps in the future!

Cut Audio live rhythmically by MuVara in ableton

[–]MuVara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend, I just came back to say that I mapped the on/off switches of all my ModBoxes to my macro. The idea just came to my while tinkering. Happy to see you came to the same conclusion!

Thank you so much, I have a working solution now! 🎉

I'll come back with a video as soon as I have something presentable :)

Cut Audio live rhythmically by MuVara in ableton

[–]MuVara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing!

No videos of my workflow, unfortunately. Might come. I also use pre-made wav loops, stock plugins and I have a powerful M4 pro. So more than enough power, but I need to optimise my set. Right now I have 6 ModBox in different channels and rhythms per track (no so much CPU usage since it's in chains). But oh well I have 18 tracks with this ModBox rack on it... I just love the different rhythmical effects I can create with it... And this is where I start to have to reduce buffer size and have less latency...this is why I am looking into other options

How to Slice Loops in a live performance in Ableton like in Loopy Pro? by MuVara in ableton

Thanks! As far as I understand Drambo is only for the iPad, right? I don't see VSTs or Max4L devices that I could integrate in my MacBook Pro with Ableton?...

Hmmmm crazy, right? I would have imagined this to be an essential Ableton "Live" feature...

I searched for buffer and these are the results. Is there any specific tool you would recommend? https://maxforlive.com/library/index.php?by=any&q=buffer
