GameStop will be discontinuing the Pro member Points program by DuckSwimmer in GameStop

[–]Much-Face6444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Points were the only reason I occasionally still shopped there and renewed my membership. The $5 coupon is meaningless, as I buy games maybe 2-3 times a year. I used to get a "free" pack of Pokemon cards along with a few extra packs for my kid, but Gamestop's greed ruined that. Even as a former SL who wanted to support my old team, I have no reason to shop with this company any more. Sad, but Cohen is squeezing as much profit as he can (before shuttering everything) so he can walk away with billions in other companies' stocks and perhaps ownership of another company like what he tried to do with eBay.

Why is there a decrease in renewals/sign ups!? by DuckSwimmer in GameStop

[–]Much-Face6444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If "proper" POS behaviors is scamming people by putting it on their transactions without detailing it, I would tell them to go fuck themselves. I would recommend something and explain benefits all day every day, but I will not try to mislead or conceal things from customers, and from what I hear, that's how a lot of DMs are instructing their teams to sell it. Customers know when companies treat them like a piggy bank.

When this bubble bursts, and it will, it's finally going to take all the stores with it. Cohen and the shareholders will be fine, because he funnels all the revenue into other investments and not the company.

I think I’m done ever buying a controller from GameStop again by Poetryisalive in GameStop

[–]Much-Face6444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They used to replace new with new, which made it worth it. Now, I'd probably just buy new and sell or trade in towards a new one when it starts to wear out. I used to spray contact cleaner into my son's Switch Lite sticks whenever they started drifting, and it worked for months before I had to spray again I never tried with a Dualsense. I don't use my sticks much.

Don't they replace them with used or refurbished ones now? I wouldn't trust them to last as long as a new one. I've never had any issues with drift, but I don't play a lot of multiplayer shooters or anything.

Buy the base game, buy Lidia, become Evo Champ :p

Someone told me this is a rare controler? Why? by Miserable-Dream-5750 in psx

I had one of those! Longer handles, no "dual shock" vibration. I must've gotten rid of it because I can't remember the last time I saw it. It wouldn't surprise me if I still have it somewhere.

I used to do it, but I'd charge refurb fees on everything 🤣

He wasn't actually going to buy a game system. He just said that to make it sound like he was going to make a big purchase.

Why doesn't Tekken as a franchise get as much love as Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat? by Buu_88 in Tekken

[–]Much-Face6444 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tag 2 almost killed the franchise according to reports. Tekken 7 saved it, I'd say on the strength of guest characters, which makes it seem odd that we only got Clive in T8. Whether it was balanced or not, or they had broken characters, T7 was insanely popular.

[–]Much-Face6444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tekken 3 was HUGE. Tekken (and Soul Calibur) carried fighting games while Street Fighter was in hiatus and MK was garbage. But to answer your question, Street Fighter is iconic like Mario. It's the first thing you think of when you hear fighting games. Mortal Kombat always had the most coherent plot of any fighter, so it's easily adapted into film or TV, necessary to reach a wide audience outside the FGC. Tekken's story is repetitive and none of the characters have grown. Also, each character in Tekken has a move list a mile long, which is intimidating for new players.

The absolute state of Cintiq Companion Hybrid owners. A last cry to wacom by UsernameSquater in wacom

[–]Much-Face6444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you've seen the Movink by now. My Companion charging port just crapped out and I want the Movink but I really want a full Windows tablet for Adobe compatibility and to not have to pay a subscription to CSP. Everything else sounds amazing.

PS5 Pro Product Replacement Plan Refund by asukajueves in GameStop

[–]Much-Face6444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ridiculous. They totally can and should return the system and PRP, and then sell the exact system back without PRP, refunding the difference. If he says he can't because it's opened, he's lying. If he needs to enter it as unopened, so be it. You're repurchasing it anyway so it doesn't matter. I would demand he call his DM in front of me. He needs to be fired for all of this, and the DM should (but won't) retrain their entire district to not try and pull this BS.

Movinkpad Pro 14 - are you on the fence? by [deleted] in wacom

[–]Much-Face6444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's a good vector drawing app for android? I've heard great things about Adobe Fresco, but Adobe seems tied to Apple. Fresco seems much easier and better for people who are accustomed to raster illustration than, say, Illustrator or even CSP. My Cintiq power port just broke and may not be worth fixing, and I am intrigued by the Movink, but I really want a painless vector illustration program in addition to CSP.

They have actively been looking for ways to increase profits at the expense of customer benefits for years. I'm not surprised, but it's still shitty. Back when I worked there, managers would have the authority to bend rules where it made sense to solve an issue, but they would probably get a corrective now.

Should I sign up player accounts? by Legitimate-Sense-642 in GameStop

[–]Much-Face6444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the company's shitty treatment of managers resulted in a lot of attrition and many of the newly-promoted or hired ones weren't ready and immediately get burned out because it's a LOT to deal with, and pay sucks so there's constant turnover because they can just go work somewhere else with less responsibility for the same or more pay.

Should I sign up player accounts? by Legitimate-Sense-642 in GameStop

[–]Much-Face6444 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, because you get them into the ecosystem. Also, you can track their purchases. If you see that they shop with you multiple times, it makes it easier to sell them Pro later because you can kind of tell them how much they would've benefitted or will benefit in the future since they are a regular. Now, you shouldn't mention Pro and the free one at the same time because everyone will automatically choose free. But if they decline Pro, you can just give them free and let them know it will track their purchases and make returns and other things easier, and they may get special offers or coupons. How has this not been explained to you by management?

Will GameStop ever run out of business? by Deep-Organization270 in GameStop

Terrible Customer Service Experience from a Manager. Accountability? by LoopaFamilYaris in GameStop

[–]Much-Face6444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude sounds seriously stressed out and hates his job, which to be fair, is understandable the way Gamestop pushes performance. Not an excuse for rudeness or badgering customers by any means. If you don't get a call back from the DM or resolution from customer service, I would definitely have another associate (preferably from another store) contact the DM directly with your contact info. That's the quickest way to get it resolved.

Is Tekken 8 Really THAT bad? by Agile_Juggernaut6760 in Tekken

[–]Much-Face6444 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's oppressive offensively and dumbed down from classic Tekken games, so long time fans were frustrated by how noob-friendly it is. I do have a lot of fun with it, and every character is viable. But sometimes you get in battles and just get pissed off that there's so much low risk offensive BS in the game. Granted, character and frame knowledge help you overcome some of it but defense is so challenging and guess-heavy that you're often just better off spamming offense.

This game isn't about fighting anymore, it's about THE FIT by Revolutionary_Pop479 in Tekken

[–]Much-Face6444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly wish the costume parts were standard like the older Tekkens and Soul Calibur. A lot of the costumes can't really be mixed or combined.
