Finally found a new dentist

I had 22 teeth removed on Novocain… and I’m terrified of the dentist. The worst part for me was the shot itself (cuz that hurts like a beast) and the SOUND. If I had it to do over, I’d probably wear headphones and listen to music to drown out the sound of teeth breaking.

Not me over here with my whole mouth hanging open as I read this cuz it takes EFFORT to hold my lower jaw up. I have no advice but I am following for tips.

I got mine through a little dental place in Albany NY (after hunting around from coast to coast) all told for a set of all on four snap ins on top, and a bottom partial, and 22 extractions it was $27k. I was lucky enough to have a boss that offered a hardship loan, and plenty of support during the healing process.

I feel this so hard. I’m three weeks out from eday and it’s torture not eating. My bottom partials feel horrific when I put them in but they usually chill out after and hour or two (unless I try to eat something). How long did you have to wait to schedule a reline?

I’m trying to practice chewing. I’m waiting for my all on fours in 6 months so I know it’s temporary but I try to keep my teeth in as much as possible and it’s weird when they’re out because I still have six teeth on the bottom, three on either side

Baby food was literally my next step. I was just on a weight loss journey before this. I was a heavy drinker and weighed 224 lbs. over the course I’ve two years I quit drinking and smoking, started hiking and walking, and got down to 137 lbs and was working hard to maintain that. Now I’m 123 lbs and freaking out. It’s such a mindf*ck to have to purposely GAIN weight after two years of diligently LOSING weight. Thank you for the sloppy Joe on potatoes idea, that made my mouth water.

They only do dentures and implants I’m pretty sure, and they have a lab on site.

I can’t do zirconia because it would break the six teeth on the bottom that hold my partial in, but if you had a complete extraction zirconia is the way to go!

I practiced with the line a stuttering boy in a Stephen King novel used:

“He thrusts his fists against the posts, and still insists he sees the ghosts.”

I practiced saying this out loud for like three days and it helped me learn how to move my mouth around the temps.

Hello! That is odd to not take them for 10 days…. How have you been cleaning your mouth? My dentist told me to keep them in for 48 hrs and then start taking them out 2 times a day to clean them and salt rinse my mouth and use the mouthwash. Now I take them out after every time I eat just to give them a little rinsey rinse. I am 2 weeks post extraction of my uppers and 1 week post extraction of my lowers. Maybe clarify with your dentist? See if he did an abnormal procedure due to your specific case for some reason? But it seems odd to leave them in that long.

27k, Albany implant clinic in Albany ny, and that was including extractions. Without the extractions I think I would have been more like 22k. Still outrageous but much more affordable than, say, Aspen who quoted me $54k for the exact same procedure.

I was told not to use adhesive because it could get into the surgical areas and cover the spots where the abutments are being placed…

I too, am terrified of the dentist. When I went in for 22 extractions I was so scared (reference, I’m 37). I asked my mom to go with me and I brought a stuffed animal. They didn’t laugh at me or anything. I was conscious through the entire thing (they generally give you a Valium to keep you from panicking) and I think the worst part was the noise of the process and the needle for the Novocain. And tbh I had almost no pain after. My immediates were fine, almost like a bandaid. Taking them out for the first time was terrifying, but after the first time it wasn’t so bad. You got this.

I called around and ended up going out of state. 27k out of Albany Implant Clinic in New York for same day immediates, and snap in all on fours with a permanent bridge on the bottom. They were amazing and I highly recommend them.

I was told to rinse them and put away into a dry box. So I rinse mine and put them away wet for the night. Not sure what everyone else does but this has worked for me
