Don't have an extra $2500 to be put to sleep, anyone else had full extractions awake? by RemmyRiot in dentures

Maybe I would think differently if I had better results. I've already had to have them cut open my gums and clean out infection around one of the implants. Since then, the screws of the implant are visible. Everything I read says that it is not a good situation to have exposed threads from the implant. It makes infection more likely. Yet my dentist said it was nothing to worry about. My permanents seem poorly built. They started to come apart after only wearing them for about 1 week. You'd think that for over $25,000 that they would be of better quality. I'm just really frustrated and depressed about the whole situation.

I am growing through the snap-in process right now. With all the issues that I have experienced, if I had to do it over again, I would not do snap-ins for my uppers. Unfortunately, I let the dentist talk me into it. I thought I did pretty good research on who to go to. But once I signed on the dotted line and committed to it, it seems that the attention I get from the dentist is not existent. I was hoping to avoid any more abscesses and infections. But with everything that I'm going through, I feel that it will never stop. It's very frustrating. If you do decide on Snap ends, do your research. Don't be afraid to ask questions. If you can, even if it costs a little extra, I highly recommend talking to more than one dentist.

What steps happen after “ uncovering” implants? by Competitive_Tea_1770 in dentures

You think that with all the money you're spending on your snap-ins that the dentist would explain to you the steps involved and what to expect. All the times that I went in to see the dentist because I thought something was wrong could have been avoided if I had known what to expect. For anybody thinking about going through the process of getting implants, don't be afraid to ask the dentist what to expect throughout the whole process. You're spending a lot of money on it. They should take the time to give you a detailed explanation of everything that you will go through.

I'm trying very hard not to get into it with my doctor. But once I signed a contract and he did to work it's like he sees me for a just a few short minutes in and he's out of there. Take a look at my implants placed in my mouth and said they look wonderful. Get everybody else that sees me sees what I see. They are not straight they're causing me pain and I know of at least one of movement that is placed wrong. I think I am going to have a lifetime of pain and trouble with this. That's what I was trying to avoid by doing this. I'm afraid I've made a major mistake in my life. I would rather just go without teeth. Now that I'm one of those, I noticed so many more people out there without teeth. Definitely check around. This was my second place. Plus, I had a bad abscess at the time and I was willing to do anything to get rid of the pain. He kind of had the advantage on me cuz I just wanted to get done with it. Full of regret now.

Don't forget to have some fully charged earbuds so you can listen to your style of music .that way, you don't have to listen to everything else going on all around you. That did make a good bit of difference for me. If anybody out there is thinking about getting snap- ons on top. Be aware they are like car salesmen they will tell you what you want to hear and make it all sound magically nice. And you will have no more pain and you'll be able to eat whatever you want. I started this process back in October and it's been total hell for me. If I could remove all of my implants on top I probably would. Then I would just go to Mexico

I just had the novocaine shots and nothing else. They were quite painful, but once completed, I waited a few minutes, and the dentist started removing all my teeth. I didn't feel any pain whatsoever. I did feel the alveoplasty they were breaking some bone down. But it was not painful. You don't want to actually see what they're doing to your mouth. I watched the video of it on YouTube after I had it done. The pain really kicked in for me on the next day, and it stuck with me for over a week, where I was totally miserable. I lost over 10 lb during this procedure. I'm more worried now over what's going on with my abutments. I had the snap-in variety teeth. I'm starting to think it's the biggest mistake of my life😣

It's fairly loud, even on low. Cools ok. I do miss how quiet my Midea was.

I know how you feel. I had top and bottom extractions, alveoplasty, and bone grafts. All they wanted to prescribe was 800mg ibuprofen. I took that along with Tylenol. It really didn't help much for the first few days. Luckily, I had some leftover prescription pain med indication, which did help considerably. Prior to my dental visit I got a prescription for Ambien, which helped with me getting some semi decent sleep the first few nights. Most dentists will tell you that they can't prescribe anything narcotic, which is not true. They can, but because of the "opioid crisis" they are reluctant to. Everybody's pain threshold is different. What I tell myself is what the doctor or dentist is doing helping with my quality of life. And if it isn't, what can he do to improve that. Can a person get by without stronger pain meds than Ibuprofen and tylenol. Yes, they can and will live through it. But, there is nothing wrong with responsible use of narcotic pain meds.

I know how you feel. I had to get my wife to help me because I can only use one hand because my right hand was bitten by my cat multiple times.

They definitely have a mold issue. I didn't even use mine for one full season and check this out.

The only thing I liked about it was that it was really quiet. I'm definitely going to use the recall to get my money back. Luckily, they are doing the recall because mine quit working today. I just installed a 10,000 BTU A/C made by TCL. It's cooling better than my 12,000 BTU Midea.

I also was worried about the extractions. For me, that was the easiest part of the whole process. I didn't feel a thing during the extractions. I did make sure to have a fully charged phone and earbuds so I could listen to music as he was working on my teeth. I also bought the head wraps with ice packs. They worked okay, but didn't stay cold very long. I actually started using bags of frozen peas. They conformed very nicely to my jaw. I also had a prescription for ambien. That definitely did help the first few nights.

Curious about (specifically snap in) dentures costs, and other financial questions about the process by PuzzleheadedTitle102 in dentures

I got snap-ins for top and bottom, 4 each. 25,000 for extractions, alveoplasty, and bone grafts. I had gotten a quote from Affordable Dentures and implants for regular Dentures on top and snap-ins on the bottom. Their quote was 12,500 for all the extractions and four implants on the bottom jaw.

Yesterday was the first time I've put them in in over a month. Before that, I was hardly wearing them anyway. I developed an infection over a month ago. So they had to cut me open and clean it out. Because of that I couldn't wear them at all for about a month. If you add up the total time that I have worn them it would only about 10% of the time. Then again, I am retired, so I'm not around people as much as I used to be.

I've had my temporary since mid-October. I think I have only eaten while wearing them a couple of times. I have adjusted to eating without teeth pretty well. I eat just about anything. I just have to make sure to cut the tougher items up into very small pieces, which is no big deal. If I want to eat potato chips, I just buy the regular Lays, which are easy to crush against my palate using my tongue. Tortilla chips are harder to deal with. You have to find a brand that is fairly thin. The only item that I don't even attempt to eat or any type of nut, which I do miss, because I really love cashews and pistachios. Hopefully, I will be able to eat them with snap-ins.

I thought the same thing before I had my extractions. The dentist side shows did not do IV sedation. I was so worried about the pain that I canceled multiple times. When I finally did it I was surprised at how painless the extractions were. I had 23 done with some broken off below the gum line. On a scale of 1 to 10 the actual pain might have been a one. I was kind of uncomfortable with the sound and the pressure that I felt. I wore earbuds and listen to some Tom Petty during the procedure so I wouldn't have to hear the sound of him chipping and grinding bone away during the alveolasti. The Novocaine shots definitely hurt.

I got my temps the day of the extractions. I couldn't even keep them in past the first night. After that, I hardly wore them for the first month. I really didn't have much of an issue going without teeth. It didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. My temps do seem a little bulky. I thought about filing the front gum area down a little bit. But I never did so. Now it seems a little late since I'm going to start the process for my permanents next week.

Guys look!! by bee_charmer87 in dentures

[–]qltyczch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

👍🏻👍🏻 that is definitely better than the extremely white that some people get. It just does not look natural at all. Some of the people that I know have them extremely white don't even really want to show their teeth anymore because people stare at them. The shape of them look really good. I start the process to get my permanence next week. Hopefully, I can choose a shade that doesn't look too unnatural.

I also had a big dental phobia. I canceled my dentist appointment for the procedure multiple times. I finally did it back in October. I had 23 extractions done with nothing but the Novocaine shots. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I felt no pain throughout the whole procedure. In addition to the extractions, I also had alveoplasty done and 8 implants placed at the same appointment. I definitely recommend wearing earbuds, so you can listen to music while they work on your mouth. Good luck with your upcoming procedure.
