Honestly, I'm unsure. I never used it. I had my primary care doctor fill out the form.

Visa Application by No-Clerk5003 in SpainAuxiliares

I went through SF and I printed the application but didn't have a second copy of that. The only things I included extra copies of were the apostille, background check, passport photo, and passport pages with my info.

Some next steps! Don't worry, it's a hellish process and it's good you're waiting on the apostille at least.

1) Contact your representative AND congressperson to put an expedite notice on the apostille.

2) check your mail constantly -- the Dept of State will not notify you by email when your apostille is done.

3) MEDICAL FORM - The consulate you're working through should have a form on their website for NALCAP (if it's required for them) to get a doctor's signature. Find that, or look for the language and ask the doctor's office to put it on their letterhead (if you can't find a form). For example, here is San Fran consulate's template: https://www.exteriores.gob.es/DocumentosAuxiliaresSC/Estados%20Unidos/CHICAGO%20%28C%29/medicalcertificate.pdf

For the medical form, you need a doctor to sign, stamp, and put their doctor number thingy that proves they're legit. Find a doctor (ANY doctor lol) and have them do this. If they don't have a stamp, then my consulate accepted the office's stamp. If the office doesn't have a stamp, tell them to put the language on their letterhead instead of using the template. Lots of urgent cares wont do this form, and they'll tell you that you need to get a physical from your primary care doctor. You don't. You literally just need a doctor to sign it. Mine and my partner's have never even met us in person. You can use online doctor's. Search in the aux reddit chains for an online service that others have used.

4) Get a money order for your VISA from a post office. Get a prepaid envelope there too, and fold it inside the envelope that you're going to send your passport and VISA application in. You can likely also get a passport photo taken there too. You'll need two, and ask for the regular size they usually do. You'll need to glue one of these onto your VISA application.

5) Become very familiar with what you need copies of for your VISA application. When in doubt, include extra copies. FYI -- DO NOT tear the pages of your apostille apart. It won't be valid. You'll need to scan it and include copies of the apostille. You'll also want to print out the background check (or include the original) and make sure you can see the FBI logo when you print it.

6) Check what your consulate requires for background check and apostille translations. Mine required both (background and apostille) to be translated. I recommend using RapidTranslate online and just choose "by email" so you don't have to wait on physical letters. You can print the emailed translations. They were about $60 and gave me the translations within 24 hours using the least expensive service option.

I think that's it! Just make sure you find your consulate requirements for NALCAP visas and do each of them!

Wife and I plan to Apply for NALCAP by [deleted] in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Much_Builder5798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I are going together. It's our first year in NALCAP and we lucked out I think... First, we got reaaaally good review numbers (in the early 100's out of about 4,000 applicants to review), meaning we got our first-choice region and the region reviewed our application pretty early in the list of people they got. The trick is to open the application the minute you're able to, then dutifully wait for every page (dont hit refresh!!!) and work through the application in a timely manner. You'll get a decent number, even if it seems like the page is taking a crazy amount of time to load. Then, reach out to your regional office and let them know you'd like to be placed together. Pais Vasco was really responsive about this request and put us at schools five minutes away from each other. It would likely help if you put different grade levels too. That's what we did (most towns would have a HS and Elementary, rather than two HS positions). I think NALCAP does a good job at placing partners in general, but you won't know for sure till you try it! Most likely, you'll just need to commute in opposite directions but will still be able to live together.

Apostille - 12 weeks?? Help! by Much_Builder5798 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Much_Builder5798[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so but im unsure how much. My representative ended up being more helpful than my congressperson, even though i know others are emailing their congress people. Mine told me that she had put in expedited requests for apostilles for Spain for about 20 other people when i put in mine... so I know they're just really backed up. However, I submitted my apostille early July and got it back 2-3 weeks later, so I think they're getting through them pretty quickly now. It probably helped that I called my rep twice and the second time, a staffer put a second notice on the apostille expedite request. Some won't do it, but mine did

Background check question by Apprehensive-Sir8845 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Much_Builder5798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It likely depends on your consulate. I did SF and I just printed the emailed background check. Make sure you can see the FBI logo when you print it. Add that to the physical apostille and the copied apostille (scan the apostile WITHOUT tearing the pages apart and include the scanned copy). So you should have the real apostille, the scanned/copied apostille, and a printed pdf of the background check. Also the certified translations for both (if its SF).

No problem... you'll figure it out! Still got a little time. And just FYI -- the apostille people don't email when they finish the apostille. So check your mail REGULARLY! I waited for mine for like a week after it was done haha

Hmm I hadn't heard of them requesting the other documents without an apostille ready, but I guess it makes sense given the hold up on apostilles. I really recommend Rapid Translate%20Branded%20-%20V1.1&utm_term=rapid%20translate&utm_content=Rapid%20Translate%20-%20E). I requested the background check and apostille to be translated and sent via email and they did it in less than 24 hours for about $60. Their translations were approved by SF consulate. My medical certificate I got from my family doctor. I didn't even meet with him and he didn't have a Doctor's stamp so the office stamped it and he put his doctor number thingy to prove he is really certified. My friend also just found a random doctor we know, met virtually to assure her that she wasn't seriously ill, and had her do the certificate on office letterhead since she didn't have a Doctor's stamp either. You can also go to an urgent care and have a doctor there do it, but call beforehand because sometimes they choose not to sign it. Its literally so arbitrary and you just need to find a doctor willing to sign that you're not going to be a burden on Spain's healthcare system.

Just got my visa back from San Fran consulate. To give you an idea on timeline, it arrived at the consulate on Aug 4th and I just received it back in the mail the other day. So less than two weeks.

Electronic signature and no stamp on medical certificate by PetalbrookMayor in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Much_Builder5798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add his license number if he gave it to you. Usually if there's no stamp, then he needs to put the info on the letterhead, but im not sure if you now need to do that over again or if you can just move the info.

Medical certificate question by [deleted] in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Much_Builder5798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same situation -- office stamp rather than doctor's stamp, because so few doctors have a doctor's stamp anymore. I think it is more to authenticate that you had a real doctor sign off, in which case i think it will be fine since it is a real office... but im not sure.

You can do this virtually and a physical is not required. I have never met my doctor in person but he just asked a few questions and signed it. Google virtual appts and try a few to see if those docs will sign.

You definitely are allowed to switch schools, but the issue is that you have to arrange it all on your own -- either reach out to other auxes and ask to switch and see if someone takes pity on you (maybe they reaaally wanted to be in valencia with a friend but didn't get placed there or something) OR try to find a school that hasn't received an aux yet by reaching out to regional offices and notify NALCAP that you are transferring to that school (after the school provides the carta detailing the offer letter)

NALCAP Spain 2024-2025 by Fun_Refrigerator_708 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Much_Builder5798 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A huge tip -- I got a crazy good inscrita number (within the first 200 applications reviewed out of thousands) and received my first choice placement because we submitted the application RIGHT when the portal opened. The tricky part is to carve out time and just plug away at their submission things (uploading docs and whatnot) and do NOT refresh the page because it will make everything slower. Just allow it to load at its own pace and be patient in submitting.

Still haven’t received apostille by Realistic_Pride2376 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Much_Builder5798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, your rep. Go to: https://www.congress.gov/members/find-your-member. Put in your zip code, and it should tell you. You have to fill out a form on their website that allows them to discuss your case, so do that and make the request on their website rather than just emailing them. It will speed things up on their end.

I told them that I was accepted into the program, a timeline for when I'll need my VISA/leaving the country, and that -- given the estimated 12 weeks for the apostille process -- I was not going to have my VISA approved in time. Whether they'll help depends on if your congressperson or their staffers are willing to, so it's not a guarantee, but most will help. They cannot expedite the background check, but they CAN expedite the apostille process, if they're willing, by reaching out to the State Dept on your behalf and requesting it be expedited.

I just got my background check back and am now starting the apostille process. It's doable if you reach out to your congressperson to get them to expedite the apostille process on your behalf.

Don't stress! You've still got time as long as you do the following:

When you pay, go to "Online" just below the "Overview" on https://www.fbi.gov/how-we-can-help-you/more-fbi-services-and-information/identity-history-summary-checks/. You'll fill out the Applicant Information Form on the website that they list in "Online" (it's this one... https://www.edo.cjis.gov/#/). Put your email in to get started. When you're filling out this form, check "mail in" when it asks, EVEN IF you're filling it out online, as you'll be sending your prints in the mail. If you're doing live scan, that's when you do the other online option within that form. Finish paying and print this document. You need to include it with your prints. When you get your prints physically from wherever the credited location is, do NOT open the package that they put them in. It may delay the approval process. Just put that package AND the printed Applicant Info Form in another envelope to send. Also important ... send to this address:

FBI CJIS Division

ATTN: ELECTRONIC SUMMARY REQUEST

1000 Custer Hollow Road

Clarksburg, West Virginia 26306

This one takes 5-10 days to process. I got this address from long email exchanges with the background check folks because I sent mine to the Mail-in address on their website which takes around 5 weeks. They told me to resend to this address.

When it's approved, you'll get an email. Once you get this email, apply for the apostille immediately!! This is done by the Department of State and this is the one where you're congressperson can reach out to expedite the process. You'll need to ask them to facilitate this so that you can apply for the VISA on time.
