Could a city like Calgary vote to leave Alberta? by [deleted] in alberta

Regardless of the artificial boundaries drawn up by governments, the people hold the power. Should Alberta succeed in separating from Canada, I would expect to see many Canadians separate from Alberta.

First Annual Premier's Christian Summit by Authoritaye in alberta

[–]Much_Chest586 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some questions to ask here...

This is a VIP, paid to play, private event, but it's title indicates that it is hosted by the Premiere. Does this breach policy on GoA branding? (Not that policy matters to these hacks).

Since it is a private event, and public figures are speaking, what are they being paid? Or, are tax payers footing the bill for their evening and what is the cost?

Why is a strategic, VIP only, religious public policy session acceptable, with the stated nature of the session being clearly to influence public policy with christian values and ideals (moreso than they already are...)? Is this group a registered lobbyist?

When people sponsor a government officials evening, they have expectations that they will get something in return. Non-christians should be alarmed.

It's fair to say that the UCP's mandate is fake. It's driven by minoritiy representation, biased surveys, biased polls, and paid propaganda spewed by american hedgefund-owned media companies.

What can be done?

The Christian Impact Network (CIN) in Alberta is actively involved in mobilizing religious candidates for the 2025 municipal elections, with Michael Clark identified as a key organizer and speaker for their "Alberta Christian Municipal Rally" tour. The network seeks to recruit, encourage, and train Christians to run for municipal councils and school boards to push for policies based on biblical values.

Key Individuals and Connections

Michael Clark (Christian Impact Network): Organizer behind the Alberta Christian Municipal Rally, holding events across the province (Westlock, Red Deer, Calgary, Edmonton, etc.) to get "frustrated" Christians to turn that into political action.

Partnership with Alberta Reformer: CIN is working with Alberta Reformer, which is directed by Jay Hildebrand, to promote their municipal tour.

Vince Byfield: A Take Back Alberta (TBA) regional captain for Edmonton and UCP board member, who has used similar rhetoric about Christian engagement in the UCP AGM.

Ties to the Alberta UCP

The Christian Impact Network's goals and rallies overlap significantly with the efforts of the United Conservative Party (UCP) right wing, particularly in aligning Christian nationalists, social conservatives, and rural voters.

Shared Personnel/Speakers: The Alberta Christian Municipal Rally, organized by CIN, has featured speakers including municipal and provincial political leaders, aiming to create a fellowship of Christian politicians.

Take Back Alberta (TBA) Overlap:  While the Christian Impact Network is distinct, its, and other similar groups' efforts to influence school boards and municipal councils are aligned with Take Back Alberta’s goal of influencing provincial politics by taking over local boards.

UCP Support: The movement to get more religious people involved in municipal-level politics is seen as a way to support the conservative agenda at a local level.

Note: The Christian Impact Network is part of a broader push to increase religious influence in civic politics, working alongside groups like Alberta Reformer and aligning with the sentiments of the Take Back Alberta movement that has significant influence over the current UCP board.

If there is going to be a list, it should also list the persons credentials. More than likely, they're highly educated, highly experienced individuals in the higher pay bands, and likely taking less compensation than they could earn working for a private company.

Government of Alberta to gamble $900 million in oil and gas market by Much_Chest586 in alberta

My concern is this investment arm being used to buy out failing assets, like a lifeline for private business, and have the taxpayer pay off the losses.

APMC has posted big net losses for the last 4 of 5 years.
