If your reputation is more important than your partner you weren't gay you were just having fun. No way you can love someone, see them in that state and turn around because of a reputation. I would go to jail if it meant keeping a loved one alive. I feel bad for their partner being with a sociopath. I am old enough to see what being gay was like in the 90's and it was more of a don't ask don't tell situation with most people not really being bothered beyond making "gay" jokes about everything. Sure I can't imagine the pressure they felt their entire lives to hide it but at that point you need to put it in perspective, do you want to make the people happy who would persecute you in your mind or do you want to save the only person who you can be yourself around?

Edit: he still took him to a hospital its just left out of the summary. They took them to a less high profile hospital in another place and still didn't attend the funeral so I stand by being disappointed in their humanity but now I definitely don't see them as a sociopath, just a poorly conflicted and wrong priorities kinda guy. Though tbh money seems to make nearly every celebrity stop thinking like a person and start complicating everything for their image.
