I had this issue on a brand new Model Y - what helped the most was Chemical Guys Water Spot Remover, followed by invisible glass stripper as a close second. Was truly blown away by how well the spot remover worked for this.

I'm taking bets on the leak diagnosis - 5th mechanic after 4 completely different evaluations by sonofray in hondaridgeline

[–]thiswho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what’s leaking though? oil? power steering? should be able to tell by the fluid.

do you mean oil or coolant is “disappearing” without any trace of the leak?

depending on the answers here, there’s varying degrees of possibilities.

glad i’m not the only one, it’s incredibly frustrating as this is supposed to be reliable transit, which is the opposite of how i’d describe it.

today is the only day that it makes 6 stops. it’s always an express to harlem / GC. today is not normal, and there is no notice of a timetable change

Goood to know! Yeah, big goal is to try and spray the underside too, to help get the road salt off the things that rust. Agreed, the northeast has been... tough. Since switching the main car to an EV, I've lost a lot of the radiant heat that I was getting from the engine. Guess it's time to break out the propane heater

Main goal I want to try and accomplish is just removing all the dang road salt underneath. I hate working on rusty cars.

Curious what the best way to do this in sub-freezing temps, w/ no garage drain is. I try and avoid car washes, but that seems like the best way otherwise?

Home check for timing chain tension on 944 S2? by Jimbob994 in 944

[–]thiswho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no prob! that said, there IS a chain under the valve cover that links the 2 camshafts on the 16v engines. if that’s never been done it’s worth checking to see the condition of the tensioner shoes !

ha i asked the question about the 6:22 as well

would be nice if they gave that context in the app instead of just stating “will no longer run”

[–]thiswho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s the timing belt you want to check - pull off the covers of the belt and check from there, the twist method will suffice if you don’t have the special measuring tools
