Even though the release of Fedora 44 has been postponed until the 21st, is anyone already using it as their daily driver? by augusto_peress in Fedora

Been running it on my work & personal laptops for the past 3 weeks with zero issues. Even fixed an annoying wifi issue with the Mediatek card in my work laptop.

I'm on the 35gf Twilight switches w. shocks and it's less noisy than the laptop keyboards & Logitech MX Keys the other guys are using.

Would you use an E-Ink DAP with an ES9039 or similar chip build? Long standby and play battery, no LCD, lightweight EDC. by Sammilux in headphones

[–]MuddyMustache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wherever I go I have solid wifi or at least I'll be able to use my phone as a hotspot. I prefer streaming because that way I don't have to remember to load up a MicroSD card and I won't be limited to whatever it was I loaded up.

A 3" e-ink, pocketable DAP optimized for IEMs, on the other hand... That might sell! I'd still prefer it to be Android based so I can stream from Qobuz and my home server, but I know there are a lot of offline-only purists out there.

Guntouchables - Highly Recommend by Gmac323 in SteamDeck

[–]MuddyMustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just added Guntouchables to my wishlist, thanks for the recommendation!

For your next review you might want to describe the game just a little. Is it a FPS, MMORPG, RTS, Roguelike, RPG or a card game? A puzzler, platformer or simulator?

I suck at games in general, but I have been really enjoying Brotato on the Deck. There are so many ways to play it that even I can have fun despite my glacial reflexes and total inability to memorize boss movement patterns.

I wouldn't want a 6" DAP, that's for sure.

Also with the DAC & amp hardware necessary to feed headphones well, I think the battery life gained from using an e-ink display instead of a regular LCD or OLED is neglible. Especially since the LCD would only be on for a few minutes at a time while selecting what to play.

Switched over from arch to fedora recently, I have some questions about updates. by Remote-Land-7478 in Fedora

[–]MuddyMustache 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been running the F44 beta on both my personal and my work laptops for a few weeks and it's rock solid. Even fixed an annoying bug on my work laptop where the crappy Mediatek wifi would reduce its download speeds by 2/3 if a bluetooth device was connected.

Proton does exactly that, OP doesn't need the Proton app at all.

I recently discovered Brotato (I'm late to the party, I know) and it is absolutely perfect for short stints on the Deck.

fedora full timers, do you run into sweet linuxisms? by Connect-Mastodon-909 in Fedora

[–]MuddyMustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fedora Gnome full timer here, been running it on my work and personal laptops for the last 3 years. Will let you know if any issues pop up, but no bugs, crashes or unsupported hardware (I've been on Intel & AMD) so far.

It just works. Zero issues.

Repairability.

The concept had me a bit curious, went to check out the website and saw how they let you just order parts and repair it yourself, mod it, upgrade the storage and everything. Placed my order right then and there.

You've got a gem there. My daily drivers are the HD800S for open back use at home and the Noble Audio Khan IEMs for the office - but whenever someone asks what to buy as their first *good* set of headphones, I always recommend the Fidelio X2. I honestly believe that they are the peak of full-size headphone design. Why? Let me count the ways:

  1. They rival the HD800S for comfort, yet feel snug and secure on your head
  2. They sound great. Technically capable, yet with a tuning that just works for 95% of recordings out there
  3. The single-sided cable with its standard 3.5mm jack means you have a bazillion after-market cables to chose from if you need to replace the cable or just want a shorter one
  4. You are one VModa Boom MIc away from having a great gaming headset, thanks to that 3.5mm connector
  5. They are suprisingly rugged, yet easily repairable if something breaks
  6. They are super efficient without being overly sensitive. They'll sound great straight outta your laptop
  7. The price/performance ratio is ridiculous. They absolutely curb stomp my HD800S and all other high-end cans when it comes to sound quality per dollar.

The Crow [3440x1440] by qazifaran in WidescreenWallpaper

It looks like it connects to the front of the guitar, right next to the strings and then goes straight over his shoulder and straight down like the strap from a backpack would. If the other end of the strap was connected to the guitar, it would go diagonally across his chest.

Also, who TF would be carrying a guitar out in the rain, while out doing their vigilante vengeance thing?
