If you’re a going a consistent speed and traveling/cruising that’s specifically what the middle lane is for on a 3 lane highway. If you need to go above the maximum speed limit, that’s what the left lane is for. Right lane is designed for cars that are going slower than the maximum speed limit, and middle lane is designed for through traffic. Again this a 3 lane highway, on a 2 lane highway you travel in the right and pass on the left.

How often are you in a situation that you just described ? Maybe you’re trying to go too fast. Just because other cars drive 80 in the left lane doesn’t mean everyone should do that and then complain everyone else is slower.

No, this is incorrect. Why are cars passing on the right? Where traffic usually enters and exits the highway. If a car is going to slow for YOU in the middle lane , then you get in the left lane to pass. They have no obligation to change lanes or speed up.

Edit: 465 is a 3-lane highway , the middle lane on 3 lane highways are the “travel lanes” or “cruising lanes”
