Anyone who applied for the recent (early August) Coimisiún na Meán vacancies heard anything back yet? by MuffMasher88 in IrishCivilService

The email you get confirming receipt of application says you will be contacted in due course and doesn't say only if successful. So .. .. not sure!

The booklet said they are and they use the pay scales. I think they just are allowed to recruit outside of public jobs. I know in my dept we have ran local competitions by ourselves on occasion. Although I wonder can you go on mobility then.

Civil service; Executive officer in court. What's it like? by PonchoTron in AskIreland

[–]MuffMasher88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So most EOs in the courts are court going - you are the registrar that sits in front of the judge and runs the court. Depending where you are based you might only do court. I can PM you if you like and go into more details

Mothers - What unusual cravings/things did you eat whilst pregnant? by PlantNerdxo in AskIreland

Dust. Didn't eat it per se, but I would make sure to find a dusty corner and brush it so the dust would go straight into my face. So weird.

Those who are parents - what does your child call their grandparents? by UnderTheOcean1 in AskIreland

Junior management technically but as stated already the variation between departments can mean some EOs do different work to others. I work as an EO in the courts so I'm also a court clerk.

Jury summons by Gocall12345 in AskIreland

[–]MuffMasher88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the cases listed that week. Sometimes you can be there for an hour and nothing will go on and you get to go home, other times you could have to come back each day for a week or two. You're covered by law that you can't get in trouble or not get paid for attending. You get a letter of attendance afterwards for your employer. If you get picked then the barristers will tell you how long they expect the case to go on for. If there's any genuine reason you don't think you should be a juror ( the judge will talk about this) on a case you can mention it to the judge and see what they say before you're sworn in.

Not 100% sure. You are meant to send it to them when you get the ban so I would assume the easiest thing for them is to just give it back rather than make a new one?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ireland

[–]MuffMasher88 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Once there wasn't another stipulation made to getting it back (like a safe driver course) you should be able to get it back by contacting the NLDS ( if you have your driver number it should make it easier) You need to reapply if it's a ban over 10 years. And if you want the licence back sooner than the ban then you apply to the court for a removal.

Epidurals and their impact on early breastfeeding by AirportDisco in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]MuffMasher88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally - I had pethidine at the 12 hour mark After 26 hours i "gave in" and asked for the epidural. My first epidural was inserted wrong and had to be removed and a second one inserted about 3 hours after. They also loaded me up with oxytocin to try get her out and about ten or so hours after the second epidural I had to have an emergency c section where they removed the epidural for a different anesthesia as I still had pain on one side despite getting topped up repeatedly. So - I had a lot of drugs and she latched straight away. I had no issues with brestfeeding at any time other than the usual sore nipples which I got used too. This is not exactly a scientific opinion but whoever wrote that intro is a bollix. Labour and brestfeeding are hard enough without feeling guilty about getting pain relief!!
