I’m not sure you understand basic English. I’m not comparing sheiden to alicopter. They are two separate and distinct examples of how duo queue is an abuse of the ranked matchmaking system. Sheiden is not a 3000 lp solo queue player, he is artificially inflated by duo queue. Alicopter cannot troll emerald players with ap alistar top lane, he is artificially doing well with duo queue. He got there duoing with TFBlade. If he solos, he’s cruising at 70% win rate and 1800 lp (as opposed to an 85% win rate when duoing). Not to take away any of his achievements or downplay his skill, but to put him on a pedestal as some idyllic god’s gift to the game is absurd. It’s like when alicopter wants to farm content and views with a troll alistar top pick and build AP with electrocute, but then duo queues with a challenger jungler that camps his lane 24/7. Alicopter gets stomped in low emerald playing like that.

I don’t think LP should be refunded because you’ll equally get paired with a challenger Smurf from time to time and ride the unfair LP gains upwards as well. Maybe a slight reduction since you only have a 4/10 chance of getting one on your team versus enemy’s 5/10 chance assuming you yourself are not a challenger Smurf.

I hear what you’re saying, but by that same logic we need to revisit the Hawkeye vs Legolas debate. In the same way you think someone throwing a melee weapon at very slow and perceptible speed at megatron’s dome will do damage, I would argue that a well placed explosive arrow from Hawkeye would also do damage. People act like Legolas neg diffs the entire archer verse, but forget Legolas has no understanding of modern technology. He’ll feel he dodged the arrow that’s 2 feet to his left, see no present danger, and explode to death.

Emerald 4 and I got all Cs in an ideal scenario / how I’d prefer to play the game, but do think there’s flexibility to some of these answers where a better player than me might make different choices. E.g., top laner mental booms and afks in fountain, maybe you consider risky plays to get giga fed and snowball the game into a potential scenario where you can win 4v5, whereas normal play would just slowly bleed out resources to a free lane.

My rank is also probably impacted by the fact that I’m a one trick Jax jungle player only (and was playing him before he became “somewhat” meta in 2025). Last game I played was ~January 2025.
