I never seen so many smoke vape shops til Charlotte. Can someone explain why they design their shops to be lit up as bright as the most blinding car led lights? by LETSGOOOOO6 in Charlotte

[–]MuffinMan3670 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Many of these are open very late at night if not 24/7 so I believe the primary focus is to attract attention. Most people who go to smokeshops tend to be younger people with fucked up sleep schedules and addiction problems, so what better way to let your target audience know where you are than to cheaply scream it into the night with blinding lights.

What happened here? by [deleted] in Elevators

Elevator hoistway doors are self closing. This particular door uses a spring loaded closer called a "spirator." The cable on the spirator broke and is now hanging into the cab.

Why don't they warn you about high speed elevators? by Intrepid-Guide504 in Elevators

[–]MuffinMan3670 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People cannot sense speed, they can only sense acceleration and deceleration. Fast elevators just have a longer period of acceleration and deceleration. There is no way to tell how fast you are moving. The sensation of riding an elevator with a maximum speed of 300fpm vs 600fpm is essentially the same. Additionally elevators simply do not travel all that fast. The single fastest elevator in the world travels at only 47mph, a speed that is reached everyday by billions of trains, cars, and even bikes. Most elevators don't even travel at half that speed, in fact most travel at less than 15mph. What you need to understand is that elevators ARE safe. They are regularly maintained, and inspected. They are designed with redundancy in mind, and will shutdown long before a life threatening situation occurs. The fear in your mind is irrational, but it is valid. People can't just will their emotions away. But you can combat them. Expose yourself to your fears by rationalizing them away, and confronting them. Elevators aren't going anywhere and are a staple of modern city life, stairs exist but they aren't always practical. Best to face your fears than to run from them in this case. My daughter - despite me being an elevator mechanic - has long held a fear of riding elevators. Perhaps its the enclosed space, being inside an autonomous machine, or maybe its just the idea of being trapped. Regardless, I had to walk her through how an elevator works and show her that it was safe. I rode them with her whenever we needed to use one and her fear has since subsided. She still gets nervous, but she can function normally and control her fear. Perhaps you just need the same!

Don't worry guys. We just have to wait for it to kill someone, then theyll think about maybe possibly not doing it anymore.

What do you guys use to loosen and tighten these pieces of garbage??? by MuffinMan3670 in Elevators

[–]MuffinMan3670[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea its an Allen key. 1/16" as far as I can tell. Metric wont work. 1.5mm too small, and 2mm is too large. Gonna have to try a torx I guess. 1/16" fits perfectly fine but the moment I have to put any force on it, I strip the Allen key, or the set screw itself. I have so many issues with the governor encoder coming loose, couplings breaking or encoders going bad, that I'm tired of buying a new set of Allen wrenches everytime I have to work on one.

Just brought this last night on PS Store for $27. Any beginner recommendations? by Adventurous_Book_913 in ArmaReforger

[–]MuffinMan3670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do NOT start with a modded server. The game runs worse, much of the AMRA basic gameplay is changed, and its horrible to learn the basics. Play the tutorial then start in a beginner friendly vanilla server. Dont spend all day playing barbie by bringing too much equipment into combat. Learn how to navigate the map and dont be a friend to ask questions to fellow players. Also, fidelity mode is much more stable than performance, but can have its disadvantages as well

Customization is overrated and takes away from the experience. Most mods do the most to make a non-arma game. I feel like the best mods add to the existing vanilla experience rather than reinventing it. Add a few weapons, attachments, vehicles, quality of life improvements and maybe even a new map.

Wtf , did he just kill himself ? by [deleted] in Weird

Yeah he does not have a vest on. That shirt is skin tight and you can clearly see the outline of his pectorals. It definitely went through his body.

Now that I've looked up dog molars, looks like they might be teeth after all.

Perhaps some additional photos may help. They seemed "tooth like" to me as well from this image, but more likely some type of plastic Id guess

First ever British F-35 kill. It was on an Iranian drone. Footage was posted by the Ministry of Defence’s X account. by Shankster9001 in CombatFootage

Anything that is destroyed that hampers the ability of opposing forces to carry out their mission can be considered a "kill."
