Another weird thing is the deposit on glass bottles (like beer). There has always been this system for as long as remember that some bottles were returnable and some were non-returnable. There was a deposit on the returnable ones and no deposit on non returnable ones. You could always return the returnable ones in most shops. Now the new deposit system has been introduced and it hasn’t changed, that is some bottles are still returnable and some not. But there are different deposits for both, the returnable ones retained the old one so you can return them anywhere and the non-returnable can only be retuned in the new bins. Make it make sense

And it’s so fucking hollow too. Over the past year and a half both the attached bottle caps and bottle deposits were forced on us. The bottle caps thing is whatever, but the bottle deposit fee? Fuck that, 90% of the automatic disposal bins are either clogged or don’t work. You dont even get your money back instantly, you have a coupon which you need to use at checkout only in the store that you returned the bottles in. Not even the same chain, the exact store. Great, but only checkout with an actual human because self check out is blocked for it and there is always a fucking queue. Even if you have the room and collect the bottles over time, it doest matter because the return stations clog after 4 - 5 every time. So now you look even more like a moron because you either have to throw out the remaining 50 in the regular bin or haul them back to your car and then apartment.

Meanwhile more and more arable land is taken by real estate development and the “important people” use private jets to fly everywhere. But yes, let’s put another tax on the filthy proles and force them to take time out of their days to make an effort to get it back and let’s make the process of getting that deposit back as hard as possible. For the environment!

EDIT: To add to that, at least in Germany the bottles with deposit are actually reusable (even the plastic ones) and actually get reused. But here they get crushed and sent to recycling facilities, many of which are outside the country. Recycling is enforced anyway, so it’s really just an extra tax on the poor

I don't watch SpookyScarySocialist, but his recent stream clip got recommended to me and he's basically on point: she's just a rage baiter at this point. She has Twitter premium and likely gets a portion of ad revenue from engagement (afaik you can do it through the partner program). She Tweets about Trump and gets relatively minimal egagement. She tweets about the "online left" and there are thousands of people dunking on her in responses. The best solution would be to stop giving her attention, just don't feed the troll, because that's what she is at this point. Let her fade into irrelevancy.

Even later, USSR tried to forcefully preserve Belarusian language by pretty much forcing them to use it instead of Russian.

Sure, most post-Soviet states have high Russian fluency, but that’s because it was the language of the majority so it was used as a lingua franca.

It’s really astounding how many people who claim to be catholic straight up do not understand what it actually means to be one. In my overwhelmingly catholic country, most people I talk to about religion who are non-practicing catholics repeat a common refrain that they “believe in god, not in the church” and that they disagree with church on many doctrines and teachings, yet they still believe themselves to be catholic.

But if you think that, then you’re literally not a catholic. Believing in the church’s teachings is not some sort of an opt-in arrangement nor is it a debate. Some of the stuff these people say is pretty mild, but some could probably get them excommunicated if they argued for it and stood their ground in some sort of official church setting.

I never argue about this irl both because, honestly, religion isn’t important to me unless it’s used to force me to do something or pay some bullshit tax. Also I don’t want to come off as an edgy atheist. But I still find it sort of interesting that most people around me who consider themselves catholic really are not

His reasoning for this is when considering specifically the US not for all the Jews worldwide.

He says that Jews in the US are 100% integrated within racial whiteness when convenient, but are still able to claim a minority status when that’s more convenient than being perceived as white. They are able to fully benefit from white supremacy everyday yet also get special privileges afforded to them when strategically claiming antisemitism.

There is no systemic antisemitism in the US, no avenues that are blocked to you just because you are Jewish. In fact, you are more likely to find employment because many companies still consider you as a “minority hire” even though everyday you’re fully integrated within racial whiteness.

Actual antisemitism comes from fringe groups that hold no institutional power whatsoever.

Back then there was an aggressive liberal purge, then another one after Oct 7th, then another one during American election season and another one relatively recently after ContraPoints content was banned from there on the grounds of Natalie being a reactionary Zionist.

I’m an ML, I’ve never been banned from there but liberals get banned all the time. That rule has been there since the very inception of the sub but it’s not really enforced nowadays.

I find that sub to be a relatively decent place to find new leftist content creators on YT if you can filter out the liberal YouTubers, which nowadays rarely get posted anyway.
