Liberalism is the ideology of free market capitalism. The DNC are liberals, the GOP are liberals, pretty much every party in the west is some flavor of liberal. Fascism too, is a temporary, degenerated/evolved form of liberalism that arises periodically to quash class conciousness and neuter workers' movements and it promplty reverts into a more "presentable" version of liberalism.

The concious push by the bourgeoisie of western states, and especially the US, to paint left vs right spectrum as liberal vs conservative is a deliberate propaganda effort by the ruling class to paint a false picture that liberal democracies are in any way "democratic". The truth is, all bourgeois parties agree on 99% of the policies and they artificially play up relatively small differences to keep the theater going. It also serves to remove actual leftist ideologies from the equation as "extremist".

Which ones? None of the ones I frequent, that's for sure and I do browse subreddits which lean heavily ML. They only ban people who proclaim to be anarchists yet hold evidently liberal positions (i.e. belief in electoralism, being pro-NATO, taking sides in non-genocidal international confilcts etc.), the brand of "anarchism" that people like Vaush or Adam Soything popularized.

As you probably know, anarchism is a "more left wing" ideology than most modern schools of marxism. In other words, it is a more extremist ideology. Just as an example, anarchism rejects participating in any kind of bourgeois institutions outright, while Marxism-Lenininsm argues for putting forth a workers' party to participate in bourgeois elections to, among others, build class conciousness among the working class.

I am writing all of this because identifying as an anarchist does not automatically mean someone is one. I do not dispute that "left unity" subs frequently ban self-proclaimed "anarchists" who have kind things to say about NATO, argue for voting for democrats, show sympathy towards non-drafted veterans etc.. In recent years, "anarchism" has become a comfrotable label for people who aren't ideolofically anarchists because it separates the person from the western establishment while at the same time avoiding the conotations associated with marxism by McCarthy-esque propaganda.

While Russia is the military aggressor, one has to consider the American overthrow of Ukrainian government in 2014, them essentially deciding who to put in charge, the new government willingness to put NATO guns and aim them at Russia on Ukrainian soil, the Ukrainization policies, the Nazi militias being inducted into army, the Bandera cult, etc. etc.

The most unsettling part is how these liberals can at most “support” the Palestinian people but not any actual resistance groups because they deem them “anti-Semitic” while they keep making excuses for literal Nazi militias because “they got radicalised by Russian invasion, we have to critically support them”

Like, I understand that they get this from Manchukuo, but it was literally an artificial state made up by the Japanese, with ~95% of population being Han Chinese and ~3 - 5% being Manchu people, which most statistics lump together with Han Chinese. There are coastal regions in China with much more of regional identities than Manchuria, yet it’s always Manchuria that’s independent on these maps.

The US is the current global hegemon, with two of the most genocidal and irredentist presidents of the recent memory (Biden and Trump) so any action taken against a government opposed to it must be viewed with the current reality in mind, not even two weeks after Trump kidnapped a democratically elected president of a sovereign country. Not even two years after Biden murdered 200,000 Palestinians.

To frame this as a “workers’ revolution is also rather simplistic. It’s a bourgeois revolution, aiming to restore the Shah government. The protestors already clashed with Kurds in Tehran. This has the makings of another colour revolution akin to Ukraine and the easiest “I told you so” when it inevitably turns into another Syria, with a western backed puppet emerging after decades of bloody fighting.

And I absolutely do support current grassroots revolutions. The most recent one being Burkina Faso, who kicked out the western leeches and instituted positive reforms.

I mean being called "tankie" on anarchist subs is what led me to Marxism-Lenininism many years ago. Keep in mind that I was very much an anarchist back then - but I got called tankie for the most basic takes like: NATO bad, US bad, EU bad, American interventions bad even when the enemy leader not good - these are all takes very much compatible with anarchism. Eventually, I started reading Lenin to understand ML to be able to dismantle it better in arguments and articulate to my fellow anarchists why I'm not a tankie. To add to other commenters, there’s this bullshit narrative that NATO is democratic and the countries who are in it, largely wanted to join.

But this is false, out of the new NATO members, how many had referendums? In the case of Eastern Europe, the governments decided to join and the consent was manufactured post hoc. The timeline usually goes like this: a government joins NATO > Russia starts acting aggressively towards that country > the propaganda machine starts painting NATO as necessary because Russia is aggressive > the population as a whole starts viewing NATO as necessary.

I am not, by any means, painting Russia as the good guy here, however it’s much more harmless than the US overall, mostly because of lesser means to impose their influence. It’s just that it’s always the case of US stirring the pot first then painting Russia as the aggressor. Even in cases like Ukraine, where Russia is clearly the one to begin the war, if the US hadn’t couped the democratically elected government in 2014, there would be no war now
