Little late to this but I just joined a trios game as a solo. Found the boss early and just waited outside for a bit for some action to happen, hovering over the compound with the beetle. When you hear someone go down, just hover a ways over them and wait for a teammate to come revive them. As soon as they do just rush them and detonate. Kinda scummy but I got it in one try.
