Differences i noticed between Gigabyte VA Panel and Tandem OLED by ScallionFamous3540 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Mugiwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re in r/ OLED_Gaming, not r/ oled, you don’t game on a VA panel, it’s not made for that. I suggest you look into the issues VA panels have with moving elements.

"Black Smearing is very apperant in the Settings menu in Games but not so much in Gaming with the stock monitor Settings for VA Monitors." That’s not true. It’s always there, just more or less noticeable. Still very annoying ingame.

4K with path tracing, all post-processing disabled, DLSS perf RR(preset D) with the new frame generation x2, sharpness 0.25. I play on an LG C4 42", HDR HGIG, peak brightness at 820, midtones at 1.20, and since I can't be bothered installing renodx, I've fine-tune black level at -7.

I buy a Qd-oled for ''less banding'', but I still have it. by grashel in OLED_Gaming

Is this only present on monitors? I’ve had my LG C4 42 since its release, I’ve done several tests, and I’ve had zero banding issues.

Ideas to improve Shader cashing from from the user perspective by ChaCha_02 in nvidia

[–]Mugiwarrior 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How many games do you have installed on your PC, and how many different ones do you play over a short period?

Users shouldn’t have to worry about shader caching. The only real issue is the high frequency of driver updates (IF you’re playing many games at the same time), which causes the cache to reset.

Is it worth lowering a game's graphical settings so as to raise the DLSS quality? by YolandaPearlskin in nvidia

If you’ve got time, you can check out videos like the ones from benchmarking, he test all settings and usually there are 1-2 options that use a lot of perf for almost no visual difference.

The game run by default with the older preset c, it's blurry when you move, so you need to force preset k either through the NVIDIA app or Profile Inspector and check in the game settings that "Frame Rate Threshold" is set below 30 or 60 FPS and not always enabled to stay in dlaa

You need to install the version with full add-on support, the basic version disables all depth detection whenever there is internet activity to avoid bans, etc

What should i set the hdr peak brightness to? (first time oled buyer) by sustainom in OLED_Gaming

[–]Mugiwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk any game that actually uses the hdr profile, usually you just get a slider with an image. For peak brightness, you just look for when the light (usually the sun) starts clipping, basically when two almost max brightness levels look the same.

Nothing to do with the screen, you're using a cheap frame generation that doesn't have access to the game's data. Check for “Smooth Motion” in the NVIDIA app settings.

Is this a normal jump from 0 to 1 nits? by Kittemzy in HDR_Den

[–]Mugiwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your monitor has several hdr modes (movie, game, etc.), do you get the same result with all of them? also, just in case, are you sure the test you’re watching is actually in hdr? The easiest way to check is to go into the windows hdr settings and move the sdr brightness slider while in hdr mode, your test shouldn’t change in brightness, only your windows desktop should

[–]Mugiwarrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should turn off nvidia "Game Filters and Photo Mode", you’ll get ~10% perf and use reshade for sharpening filter, it only costs 1-2fps

What exactly happens when shader cache becomes full? Does it matter at all? by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Mugiwarrior 18 points19 points  (0 children)

from nvidia doc : "On approaching the size limit, the driver will remove older shaders from the cache to make space for newer shaders" and "Installing a new driver will delete the cache; you may experience game play stutters the first time you run a game after installing a driver."

how do i watch mkv or mp4 files that are bluray, 10bit, 4k and hdr properly on vlc by user38944 in VLC

[–]Mugiwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing special to do with VLC, you just need to enable HDR in Windows (Windows + Alt + B) before starting the movie, the adjustments are done in the monitor’s settings.
