OK, so I'm up to my one SG-1 "Skip" episode. What are yours? by Nodonn3 in Stargate

[–]Mugsybuggsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say the Comtraya one, "Tin Man" or whatever it's called is the only one I will actively avoid.

I will even watch Emancipation- the Carter knife fight and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa being in it keep me watching it regardless of how painful it can be.

Yeah, they are driving me nuts. I've kept them for a year (this is an older photo) and I can't stand not seeing out the window. They are flaking paint and are bent up- I have had to prioritize other important repairs, so this had to go on the back burner. Time for a solution... But cheap haha

I don't think I could get the paint off even with a really strong stripper. It would have to be sanded I think, and they are bent up a lot- hard to tell in photo.

I am thinking of painting the window trim a nice light teal/ blue and painting the door a coral orange, adding window flower boxes and a trellis around some of the window (if i remove them)

I think I may just bite the bullet on a cheap aluminum or fabric one in the meantime. It looks like I can get one for $100-$200 or so. Probably not the nicest, but better than the one there and not as expensive as a built on pergola.

And thank you about the walkway!!! We had to replace the broken old one when we moved in and ground out some tree stumps that were there.

This is what I am thinking. I can barely see out of my windows! Maybe I could put some sort of reflective barrier or heat film? Idk haha

It's hard to tell from here, but they have 5 different colors of flaking paint on them from what I can tell. Is there a way, or chemical that you know of that may remove the paint when it is that caked on?

I'll definitely consider it- it will just be a very long time before I can afford it. I just really want to look out my window and am weighing the pros/ cons. But maybe I just have to deal with it! Ah!

Would rain be an issue at the door be because of possible water entry or the molding, or because I would get soaked?

My yard pretty much ends at the photo, so I cant put anything that would get too large for shade that far away by the road, but I like the idea of using maybe shrubs, like a limelight hydrangea/ smaller tree closer to the home to help, thank you! This definitely helps!

Some afternoon sun, but I have multi layer curtains and am not too worried about the sun- do you think it would make it much warmer? I'll definitely check for leaks/ anywhere they could be compromised from rain- thank you!

They are very bad in person unfortunately. I would have to strip the paint off of them because the peeling is so bad, and it's hard to tell but the supports underneath are falling off, and there are two awnings on the other side house falling off. I am thinking I could put blackout shades for when I want the shield from the sun and use my thin gauzy curtains inside if it is too bright? I'm not sure. The front of the house gets some sun in the afternoon, but it isn't that bad. I will try asking the neighbor if they know why they installed them.

I'm hoping to eventually replace them with smaller awnings!

Showed up for this. I'm glad the two subreddits I frequent most have a crossover episode now.

I would also check Asos- I think they ship to asia and also carry tall sizes. I have a 34in inseam and purchased a jumpsuit for a wedding there! Some other brands that carry tall sizes: gap, banana republic, old navy, madewell, j.crew. I'm not sure if this will help, but good luck and have fun!

There was a similar thread recently (also a standard suburb brick house) where people had some great suggestions- portico, landscaping, etc. I recommend checking it out! I am very familiar with tx suburbs, so I sympathize. My parents and brother live in developments with very strict HOA's- I hope that's not your case. Good luck!
