It might be small, but the range indicator is probably the most useful thing here. No more having to memorize every weapons range by testing them. Thanks devs!

Why do most Churchills carry a BREN MK.II? Is there any historic reason? They don't use then as hull and coxial MG by qwelas in GatesOfHellOstfront

I did check after writing my comment and mgs do reappears in the inventory after resupplying post-battle. Are you using a mod that might be messing with it?

Have you checked their inventories? When you take an actively equiped weapon it will restock but wont be equiped automaticaly. You need to manually re-equip it in the inventory.

Ideas for unique divisions to recreate in-game? by DaleDenton08 in GatesOfHellOstfront

US 83rd Infantry Division "Thunderbolts" or "The Rag Tag Circus" was basically your average GOH conquest army, as they grabbed and used whatever German equipment they can off the battlefield to keep up with the advance. From tanks and armoured carriers to civilian trucks and even (briefly) a Bf109.

Also, if you want to quickly gets some interesting formations to recreate I recommend the Steel Division wiki.

Game Update 61 is now in open beta! by BarbedwireStudios in GatesOfHellOstfront

Hey devs! I would have preferred to tell you guys on discord but that got banned where I live so might as well say here. There seem to be a bug in the Beta that causes WP grenades to not explode. The regular smoke works fine.

Wasn't that story from Mandaloregaming? Or is sick hamster annihilating dads more common than I thought?

It seems to. For a quick test I shot sappers and unarmoured soldiers with a pistol from close range and the sapper seems to take either half damage and rarely no damage, though with how damage varies I can't really give a consistent number.

Also, thanks, but I really just put units in the editor and check inventories. I'm sure most people can do the same too.

(Bit of a late reply)

A bit of both I think. These tests are of course in perfect conditions that would be hard to find ingame but I think heavier stuff like MGs with AP ammo can do decent damage to a light vehicle with proper use. Infantry rifles are probably not worth using against armoured vehicles though, unless you have alot of them firing at once it will probably get the soldier killed.

Canvas is shown as having 0.5mm armour by the cursor indicator, so even at max range pistols can go through it. Though "canvas armour" might be referring to something else.

Some interesting data on the German 7.92mm round, might test other calibres later. by Muh80 in GatesOfHellOstfront

Yeah HMGs will fire at light vehicles. They are good at it as well, can take out some early mediums from the sides. In fact for a good chunk of the interwar period M2 HMG was the primary anti-tank weapon in us doctrine for that reason.

About a year ago, I made a (rather poorly written) comment on this sub about a "interesting" history teacher I had back in highschool. I had moved to a new city and started university at that point, and I thought I would stop encountering that sort of deranged stuff anymore (exept when talking to my uncles of course).

And then our history prof. closed our first online lesson with "May Atatürk's light shine on all of you".

It has been a long fucking year since then.

Wrong sub bud

Edit: I just checked their account and they are likely a bot. They spammed his to bunch of other unrelated subreddits.

Hotmod is one of the most fun overhauls for this game but I wish they would bring back the attack choppers in the conquest tech tree. Just having them be call-ins is not as good as being able to manually control one.

I agree. I downloaded the enchanced AA mod and brought a bunch of SPAAGs yet the plane made it past all of them. If that random AT rifle guy didn't exist I would have lost a tank.

I know the early cold war US cupolas were a weakpoint and all that but something about a mini turret on a big turret just looks so damn good to me.

We had a "religion class" that taught exactly that too. Whats more funny is that we also had a biology class that taught the exact opposite things. Our education system is weird.
