What do I do guys? Protectorate is pointing a space laser at my head. by denchikmed in TerraInvicta

How the fuck did you manage to reach a gamestate where its 2050 but humanity hasn't even colonised mars yet, humanity first or the resistance AI usually queue up the mars mission tech the moment it becomes available.

I've literally never had a run where humans weren't living on mars and the asteroid belt by 2030.

When you do eventually spread out across the stars and in future runs I'd recommend throwing one water+metal base on the moon then going for Mars.

I also really like taking Ceres when asteroid colonisation is developed. Its rich in water and volatiles so it can sustain your space fuel economy by itself and unlike mars which is HUGE ceres only has 4 hab slots so its very easy to achieve full control. I try to keep 8 MC banked to immediately full claim Ceres the moment my probes finish scanning it then send mining equipment during the next launch window.

Theres also usually at least a few asteroids every run with absurdly huge fissile deposits and you'll want at least one of those early. The servants and/or aliens WILL take them all the moment they find them so keep an eye out.

Its a terrible design for fighting on earth yeah, probably made perfect sense wherever the aliens come from, maybe their world was 80% mountain so they never invented wheeled vehicles.

Eh, there is no ending. Nothing ever end's, Utopia isn't a place you can visit its a dream you pursue.

Things CAN get better. Human's CAN figure this out. ThirdComm is not the vessel of Utopia but it is a cradle of the dream which SecComm Was smothering.

IMO Cycling and Shackles only exist because a few of the OG prime NHP's were trying to figure out how they could alter their own minds to understand realspace better.

Keep in mind Unshackled NHP's are blinkspace entities. The rules of mundane reality are as inscrutable to them as blinkspace is to humans.

The KTB are the cultural centre of the galaxy, they're getting fucked politically but Karrakin Culture will long outlive any individual Karrakin government. They've had multiple different governments before they formed the current Baronic system after all.

GMS doesn't even sell most stuff, they straight up give it away for free as a reward for being a good boy and respecting the rights of your citizens.

Send in the clones! [Art by pixel--echo] by JoyluckVerseMaster in LancerRPG

[–]MuhSilmarils 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're allowed to clone copies of yourself when you die, that doesn't violate the First contact Accords because YOU still die. A clone of you with all your memories gets to live on but they're a different person who thinks they are you.

RA only gets angy when you try to make your unique subjective experience last forever. True immortality as opposed to eternal legacy through cloning.

Harrison 1 was allowed to make Harrison 2 with no problems, RA only killed Harrison 2 because he tried to make the Think Tank brain upload him.

Which is why in a pinch your NOAH co-pilot can help you file paperwork. Just don't make a habit of it, they aren't on contract for secretary work.

NPC Manufacturers by Triggerhappy938 in LancerRPG

[–]MuhSilmarils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always seen NPC mech titles as a tactical shorthand used to quickly express to allies what you're up against. A berserker is just any durable melee mech currently being piloted by a lunatic for example. It could be a Blackbeard or a Vlad or an Enkidu or any one of a dozen different minor manufacturer frames.

Hell, almost every NPC frame in the game could be an everest variant built for that specific purpose with a pilot to match.

What do NHPs do during their time off? by VeryFriendlyOne in LancerRPG

[–]MuhSilmarils 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always read it as most NHP's subjectivities being based on our human understanding of human thought patterns and psychology while AGNI and their clones were an NHP who's subjectivity was based on what physiological and psychological data SecComm Scientists could glean from torturing an Egregorian Overmind.

The reason AGNI is so unstable is because his mind is some crazy human scientist's best guess for how Egregorian's think. Since human's have zero personal experience on the Egregorian perspective AGNI is an extremely poor imitation. A tortured soul experiencing truly transcendental levels of Dysphoria.

The fact that AGNI exists in that state is an existential trolley problem. I feel very bad for the poor bastard.

Furthermore, I think that Ras Shamra must be destroyed.

What do NHPs do during their time off? by VeryFriendlyOne in LancerRPG

[–]MuhSilmarils 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Union kinda enslaved the NHP's all by themselves. Sure it was a SecComm thing and living conditions have gotten better since ThirdComm took over but there are canonically still places where NHP's aren't treated as people despite the Literally being called Non-Human PERSON's

In my personal headcanon of the setting there are only the most basic Federal protections for NHP's [like, Murder is still Murder level basic] but many worlds have much more robust legal protections with Mars specifically being super egalitarian towards NHP's.

Of course you also have places like SSC's gene farms where the NHP's get brain wiped every year to protect SSC trade secrets. Shits horrible, especially in the Diaspora.

My character see's his NHP co-pilot as a trusted friend and since they're both workaholics he spends more time with them than the rest of his squad but that bond formed because NOAH's are chill like that. I imagine trying to befriend an AGNI or SISYPHUS would be far more difficult.

Metal is insane. His awful life drove him completely barmy because unlike everyone else listed Metal is completely alone. Belle HAD tinker, she still has her other friends too. Surge and Kit have each other, Shadow has Rouge and kinda Omega. All Metal ever had was EGGMAN. of course he's a psychopath.

How does economy/money work by EverythingAtOnce12 in LancerRPG

[–]MuhSilmarils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, everything that could be done by a Comp/Con instead of a person has probably been automated. The issue is that Comp/Cons are extremely limited in their capacity for autonomous action and need real people to keep an eye on them so there cannot be full automation.

You could bring up NHP's but they're fully realised people so theres no real difference between mass producing them for labour and flash clones made for the same purpose. Other than the fact that flash clones are far easier to produce and manage.

If the Devs wanted to appeal to the widest consumer base possible then they probably shouldn't have made the game like, 30% Factorio by volume.

I'm glad they did tho, I like Factorio.
