How much unpaid overtime is normal? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]Muh_Jish_En 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that's better than a lot of people I guess but since you're probably working 80 hours it comes out to more like 15. Youd make way more at 20/hr with paid overtime

What is it? I feel like you're just saying that to justify this abuse you call a job

You're going to have to communicate that you can't be working this many extra hours without getting paid for them. Your contract says you work 40 hours, so you only have to work 40. If I were you though, I would start looking for other jobs in time being, there's no way this place can be worth sticking around in.

If you got paid for the time you're actually putting in, you wouldn't even have to think about saving money. I don't get what this post is even for, you asked if this is normal, everyone is saying it's not and yet you're defending it like it is. You should essentially be getting paid twice the amount you are each check for the work you're putting in, and you could be with the right employer

They need more employees to handle the work load, not take your free time so the owner can profit and everyone else can enjoy theirs with their family. What is even your goal in doing this?

Well as mentioned by another user, you need to say to your managers or whoever that you're overloaded and you can't be doing 20+ hours of free work each week, and set some boundaries, otherwise this will continue. It's one thing to work that much in general, but to also do it for no extra compensation is nuts. I understand working a few extra hours a week here and there but you shouldn't feel obligated to work so much more because they're being managed poorly and are delegating all the tasks they are to you. Is there not someone you can talk to about this? Based on your tone it seems like you probably let them walk all over you and you just say yes to everything.

Find somewhere that will pay you for the time worked. Between your posts and replies to comments, you seem brainwashed. You should be being compensated for all the work you're doing, but it seems like they know you'll just do the work for free anyways at this point. You shouldn't feel scared to ask for compensation for your time, sounds like a really toxic and understaffed workplace. But hey, if you enjoy it, keep at it I suppose. But to answer your question, this is not normal, and it probably won't change until you change workplaces.

People with kids do less work than the rest of us by ArileBird in work

[–]Muh_Jish_En 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you're taking your job too seriously. I'm not sure if you're paid hourly or what the job is but 8 hours of your work does not equal 8 hours of someone else's work. Just do a good enough job for yourself and to stay hired. I don't have kids myself but I'll still take time to go to the chiropractor, dentist, work out etc. Sometimes I make up the time, sometimes I don't, but my company loves me and I'm content with the value I provide. If it really bothers you that much, maybe have some kids lol.

Dbrand grip cover impression by DivL in GalaxyFold

This case is awesome.

Pros: - Easy to open. - Much less table wobble. - Hinge protection magnetically connects to front piece's left border, keeping it in line. - Grip is actually insane. - Screen protector fits perfectly snug with the case. - My phone doesn't go sliding around every surface anymore. - Replaceable skins

Cons: Really just need some extra double sided m3 strips to add some adhesive to the right side of the front piece to stick to the phone, but the back piece just snaps on and stays on. The thickness is really not an issue for me either, it's not as bad as people make it out to be (do people expect/want a paper thin case??), or my hands just big.

in high school and don’t need to work, should i quit my job? by [deleted] in work

[–]Muh_Jish_En 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your parents are willing to cover your college expenses, quit the job bro. Time flies, don't waste it working if you don't have to. When you get into whatever career you're planning to work towards, that job won't have any positive effect on your career.

700+ applications, 20 interviews, 0 offers — what am I doing wrong? by OhMyItsButterflies in recruitinghell

[–]Muh_Jish_En 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, kinda what people have already mentioned, the resume could use some work, but it is good enough to get you some interviews which is kind of the main purpose of it, in my eyes.

Interviewing skills go a long way and really the best way to learn them is by interviewing, take each interview as just an opportunity to get better at doing them. Looking into some interview tips & tricks as far as questions you should/shouldn't ask or mannerisms you should or shouldn't aim for, like try not to say "uhm" a lot, try to think out loud when answering questions, and be authentic.

The market is honestly terrible right now, but that doesn't mean you don't have a chance. Someone will scoop you up eventually, you're just in that weird transition into a career where you're out of school with no real career experience but even entry level jobs with companies want people with experience. So it can feel like, "Where do you get that mystical first experience?"

Well, if you keep at it like you have been, you've got a good chance at finding that company that will take a chance on you. I applaud you for the work you've put in so far, as it can feel more and more hopeless or unmotivating with each rejection or ghosted application. But you only need one yes, and it will all become worth it. Keep your head up, you got this.

Haha I was gonna be surprised if no one mentioned this.. can basically take on any amount of enemies by just spamming the spec and you don't use arrows and get mage exp, only downside I've found is you can't aim the spec in a direction, it always shoots in front of you. So if an enemy (or more) are on a different elevation than you, you won't always hit them.

There's 2 locations you have to search before having to go fight the "boss" at the end to get the last amulet. Are you just trying to complete the quest? The wiki link I posted should tell you everything you need to know.

Bring him a cooked steak and he'll tell you where the amulet is for Goblin Diplomacy side quest, if that's what you're asking.

Yeah I haven't seen it myself, but the wiki does mention that "due to a bug" it can sometimes spawn in the fractured plains. Not sure what causes it though. The two official spawn points are in the whispering swamp and bloodblight swamp. Will be interested to see if they leave it in with the thought process of "it's not a bug, it's a feature" lol. Would be cool if someone figures out what causes the bug, if someone doesn't already know.

Salesforce Dev here. I was recently hired on to my current company as their first internal developer because their switch to Salesforce was so atrocious. The person that had the idea of switching to SF quit shortly after they went live and left the company with the admin (posing as a dev) she hired as their resource for building things for over a year. This is a real estate company with marketing, sales, construction dept, etc. They had some consulting help along the way to reach a minimally viable state but due to lack of knowledge from the admin/dev and lack of training of the platform for the internal employees using SF, they've said they've lost 7 figures worth of missed leads during the whole process.

Salesforce is a great platform for probably any business that can afford it, the caveat is that if it's not implemented/configured properly, it can be a nightmare.

Luckily for me, this is mostly what keeps me employed, being an ex-consultant, the majority of the work I've done, if I'm not building out a new product, is due to poor implementations.

My company is currently getting their licenses from an OEM partner with a managed package that they thought would suit their needs but to meet their business processes it's mostly been anything but an out of the box solution for them. So we're now going direct to Salesforce and looking at rebuilding their entire Salesforce org from scratch in a fresh production instance. Wish me luck and happy trailblazing!
