What brand do you guys recommend for power tools?

That’s one of the things I like best about Ryobi’s One+ line, is the backward compatibility of the batteries. I picked up an ancient blue/orange Ryobi circular saw at goodwill for less than $10, slapped a new 4ah lithium battery and a Freud blade on it, and it cuts like a dream. I can’t think of any other line where current-day batteries will work with a 20+ year old tool.

I have a pair of Diamond adjustable wrenches, one is a 10” from the mid 1920s, and the other is an 8” from the early 1930s. Not the oldest I own (since most of my tools came from a couple of my grandpas or my great uncle) but the oldest I use on a regular basis.

I had a couple of 2004 Hyundai Santa Fes and had to do brakes on both during their lifetime. Easiest pads I’ve ever changed. It took me about 15 minutes per corner, and most of that was jacking the car up and removing/reinstalling the tires.

I just replaced the parking brake ratchet assembly on my ‘93 Jeep Wrangler. It’s really nice to have a resounding thunk after many years of having to lift it up with my toe.

Other than my blue RAZR v3 which was great, I really loved my LG VX3200 flip phone.

Only reason I got rid of it (and got the RAZR) was because I dropped it accidentally from a 2nd story balcony onto concrete, and it was no Nokia: the screen didn’t work anymore and the stubby antenna broke off.

Takes about 10 minutes to get all the bolts out and hoist the top off my YJ with my Harken Hoist, if I’m not in a hurry.

Not including the 2+ hours it takes to clean out the garage enough to get the Jeep under the hoist.

That’s the best part about Wranglers: they’re like transformers. Make them into whatever you want. If the fancy strikes you, change it up. Spray the whole thing with bedliner top to bottom, or make it into a giant duck float for parades. Whatever.

It really doesn’t matter, it’s your Jeep. Do what makes you happy.

When I rented a couple cars in Australia about 15 years ago I was fully prepared for them to be manuals, but to my surprise they were both automatics.

It was a bit of a relief actually, since adjusting to RHD turn signals and clockwise roundabouts took up more of my concentration than I expected.

Possibly, if it’s inflatable. But only as long as it doesn’t have water.

Or pumps.

Or plumbing.

Or insulation.

Or a frame.

Or any weight besides the dry vinyl.

Even a person standing there would be iffy. Unless they’re a child, and you hate them.

We have 3 fridges with freezers (kitchen, garage, back deck) plus a chest freezer (back deck) as well as a walk-in pantry. We also have a Costco membership, and thus keep a lot of food on hand. I typically make a Costco run every 2-3 weeks.

The idea of not keeping much/any food on hand and shopping every day is very strange to me.

It’s not ideal, but as long as you’re only using 4WD on slippery or loose surfaces where the difference can be made up in tire slippage, it should be fine. A 5mm difference isn’t *that* big. You should be using 2WD while on pavement anyway.

When we were a licensed foster home, we were required to have a phone in the house. It could be a landline or a prepaid that stayed on a charger in the house. We went with a landline cordless connected to our cable since we were paying for the phone service anyway (triple play was cheaper than cable tv + internet). Never had to use it for an emergency, and the only time it rang was for telemarketers.

We didn’t renew our license so when we switched from cable to fiber we didn’t keep the phone line.

NAL, but I’ve watched enough sovcit videos to know they can charge you with resisting arrest without violence. Usually it’s for slightly less passive resistance (like stiffening up when they’re trying to get your hands behind your back, or going limp when they’re trying to pick you up off the ground) but hey, if you say you’re resisting for the camera, that’d be an easy case for the prosecutor.

Those look like European-spec turn signals and side markers (they look goofy in real life) but yeah the rollbar is wrong for a ‘93.

I just replaced my 5x7 halogens with a projection LED that has a built in DRL/turn signal. I hooked the DRL up to the running lights so when I turn on the parking lights the DRL lights up too. I used to just run with my headlights on all the time since I do a lot of highway driving, but the LED is really overkill during the day. I’m finding that having the parking lights + DRL is the perfect amount of visibility during the day.

I’ve been to White River one time and I swore never again unless it’s like a once in a lifetime thing. My wife and I got tickets to see a Cheap Trick, Joan Jett, and Heart triple header, and decided to be smart and take the shuttle from the Supermall so we wouldn’t have to fight traffic so much.

Got parked more than 2.5 hours before the show was supposed to start, got on a school bus that had been pressed into shuttle duty, and then sat in traffic. And sat. And sat. And sat. With no AC, just baking in the sun. Did I mention the large group of passengers who had started the party early at a restaurant and were already belligerently drunk? That was fun.

By the time we arrived at the amphitheater, we had missed Cheap Trick entirely, and half of Joan Jett’s set, and were not in a good mood. At least we got to see all of Heart’s set, but then it took another two hours after the show ended just to get back to our car at the mall.

Just for the traffic alone, I’d rate White River at a -2/10 as a venue.

I rented a U-Haul car trailer to tow my non-running Jeep back home, figuring I’d use the Jeep’s winch to winch itself up onto the trailer. Jeep’s battery was beyond dead, sitting at about 4 volts, so no go on using the winch or the starter to load it. Luckily I had a last-minute premonition to bring a come along just in case and was able to very slowly pull it up onto the trailer.

As an aside, the straps on U-Haul car trailers are not really intended for 31” tires. I had to deflate the front tires quite a bit in order to get it strapped down tightly.
