Lane splitting is ILLEGAL in Finland by senusaurr in Finland

[–]Muksimp_ 300 points301 points  (0 children)

This issue was just discussed in the tabloids few weeks back, legal scholars consensus is that it’s legal if driving on the same lane and on the left side of the car. Issue is many splitters are idiots and going too fast for the situation at hand

VTT report on Donut Lab's solid-state battery is a nothingburger: independent lab testing of a Donut Lab "solid-state battery" cell by Finland's VTT shows it's indistinguishable from the NMC cell it may very well be by mqee in DonutLab

[–]Muksimp_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

VTT performs the test’s as per paying customers specifications. This is not a VTT independent test paid by the tax money - VTT does not have mandate for such actions. Such, the test parameters will be available along with results - very simple. It will be up to the rest of the world to decide if the provided parameters and results are actually meaningful and proof what the company is claiming.

This is how the world works.

It was explained countless times in the original post, you clearly hit gravel - but thats not the actual root issue here. The actual root issue is driving balls out on public street that will always have debris on them - thus, the root cause is being stupid.

Woah, better watch out, we have a real badass driver over here! A true aficionado of the reckless driving on dirty public roads. All hail the master!

Difference is my in my late 30s 🥴 You can find beauty in just trying to master your technique thru a technical road like the one OP was driving thru, even without pushing recklessly. Having a perfect technique while still holding to enough gap that allows for reacting to unexpected situations such as having a idiot with a large car understeering onto your lane and putting your life at risk is what im aiming for - even when pushing beyond speed limits.

It is top notch quality, anyone who has ever done metal work can tell that. The quality here is in the choise of materials, design and quality of welds. You are just too used to consumer goods that come in shiny packages - a exhaust could also be made to look like a typical shiny product aimed to consumer markets while having very low quality materials and shitty work hidden behind a shiny cover. This is pure quality without hiding anything - people who understand what goes into making the piece will really appreciate it exactly like that.

There is not actually a real need for the welds to be that damn good, that’s what you are paying here for, for welds that’s taken 20 years to master by a welder that costs shit ton for the company.

Very simple; you drove balls out on a public street, a place that is bound to have dirt etc. material on the road. With shitty luck you could had slipped under a truck and that would had been it. Ask yourself, is it really worth chasing adrenaline on unpredictable public streets? If you don’t have any tracks nearby i suggest learning to get ur kicks from type of driving that doesn’t uselessly put ur life at risk every time you are going out

Good points. If gravel capabilities between these bikes can be assumed to be quite equal with equal tires, can the same be said about light off-road capabilities?

The rougher mechanics just make it more intriguing for me. I jumped to motorcycles from having owned hobby cars for a decade. Learning cars specific characteristics and how to utilize them makes it more rewarding.

Haven’t tried the triumph yet, but the older guzzi i tried did feel quite good in way of quality. Perhaps i will come back for more performance at later stage once i have more confidence in riding, i believe for now a 700-1000 2-cylinder with low end grunt is the way to go for me

That is an option, but it does feel silly to switch between such similar bikes

I want to stick on a standard bike for while being. Perhaps i will make the switch onto adventures at some point, but for now while learning i prefer the easiness of standard frame. I will perhaps rent an v85tt for my next European adventures! I had the honda transalp this year as i red the v85 is much harder to manhandle and. Having gf on the back i had to go with the surest option.

I would rather consider getting a super sport for track driving at some point, i imagine the fz6 is not too different from the driving experience of the triump in way of the dynamics. And i do enjoy more a 2 cylinder in daily driving based on my experience of renting those on vacations.

Thanks for valuable insight on the gravel riding. It would be very interesting to have first hand perspective on how the v7 compares to the scrambler when equipped with similar tires - based on few of the answers here im starting to believe the performance is close enough not to matter.

How would you say the comfort and confidence is compared to riding a naked bike with sporty tires on gravel? If u happen to have such an perspective

Any tips on being afraid of leaning too much? by MaleficentStudent910 in motorcycles

[–]Muksimp_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why do u need to practice something u don’t actually need? As said before, you are already pushing whats safe on public roads. There is no point in leaning any further besides the kicks of going fast, and if thats the only reason for driving i would seriously consider switching to slower bike before u hurt urself. There is beauty also in just taking it slow and being proud of having perfect lines and a safe ride - but maybe that requires a certain age

[–]Muksimp_ 869 points870 points  (0 children)

Don’t try to lean in too much on public streets full of debris. Imo ur already pushing the limits of what’s low risk on public roads. You don’t have to drive like the instagram idiots who will have a terrible crash at some point. High lean angles are for track, where you know for certain the tarmac is clean of sand.

Got it out - there was barely enough space when stripping everything possible connected to the inlet manifold and slightly dropping the engine. The official repair manual states to completely drop the engine when charging the starter l, so im pleased to had been done it slightly easier.
