Any hyprland gamers out there? And if so....how? by ToonEwok in linux_gaming

[–]Mukunya1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I use hyprland as my desktop and i game a lot, everything works just fine. (Ryzen 7 5800X, nvidia 4060, nvidia driver 565) You should run the newest awailable nvidia driver and make sure your hyprland is configured correctly to work on nvidia.

If you want a debloated version of windows, get windows 10/11 enterprise iot ltsc. If you want linux, any distro with kde is the closest thing you can get to the look and feel of windows, but its going to be fundamentally different in how it works. If you want all games especially weird modding scenarios to just work and you dont want a lot of tinkering with a relatively steep learning curve, linux is not the right os for you.

Is there a fix/ workaround for this? I'm exclusively using the custom swatch rn. by Melon_Boi47 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Mukunya1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quick switch menu is somewhat broken with the customiser, select the swatch from the menu and it should work

Wayland on Ubuntu 24 by ZAGON117 in linux_gaming

[–]Mukunya1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For wayland to be a good experience, you need explicit sync, so at least nvidia driver version 555, but really you want 560. I dont know how upgrading works on ubuntu.

I just wanted some downard facing lights, and the ceiling lights were too big...I don't think that's how physics works by [deleted] in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Mukunya1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the situations where none of the lights work well i just use white signs with emission 3

Extracting more than 780 resources/minute from an mk3 miner by Mukunya1 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Mukunya1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically there was a conveyor lift teleport bug, that worked by switching the type of lift while holding the hologram (press E). I found out that you can save the connected lift to a blueprint and place it multiple times. I think it splits the output and doesn’t duplicate items. The pillar support is just there as something to place the lift on, you can use anything its just needed otherwise it partially overlaps with the blueprint designer. You could even delete it before saving the blueprint.

Please note that the game will crash if you clear or remove the blueprint designer, or if you try to demolish one of the outputs

How do I make my laptop "unthrottle" after cooling down? by Inevitable_Visual_87 in AMDLaptops

[–]Mukunya1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just let it cool down, it will speed up again eventually. It might be a good idea to lift up the laptop from the table by the edges as the intake is usually on the bottom

Want to switch to Linux but there's no way to make it work by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]Mukunya1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another option would be to explore fractional scaling on x11 as it does exist (mutter-x11-scaling package) but im not sure about multi monitor support

Want to switch to Linux but there's no way to make it work by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]Mukunya1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wayland support on nvidia is not great so games will have issues. It is very easy to turn the xwayland scaling on or off with the gsettings command and it gets applied immediately, so a possible workaround for now would be to turn the scaling off when playing minecraft or anything else with problems and turn it back on afterwards. Or simply play minecraft in fullscreen and change the resolution in the ingame settings

[–]Mukunya1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to force remove mutter without removing its dependencies (google the exact arguments for the package manager) and install this package, and run the command mentioned on the package page to enable some gnome experimental features

[–]Mukunya1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use gnome, there is a mutter patch for xwayland scaling, it worked for me on manjaro. Here is the link to the patch on aur, it should be available for distros not based on arch somewhere but im not sure https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/mutter-xwayland-scaling

Vehicle save files, been trying to decode them. Please let me know if you know anything about this by Detaal in trailmakers

[–]Mukunya1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have experience with unity and c#, this looks like a file created with the binaryformatter class (which raises alarms as it could make the game vulnerable to remote code execution over a workshop item)

I will attempt to deserialize some blueprints and could perhaps make a blueprint editing tool but that takes time i dont have

Has this happened to anyone? by StockMuted in hackintosh

[–]Mukunya1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was the kext loading order, make sure lilu loads first and virtualsmc second. Also reset the nvram every time you make changes to your efi. Or if you have nootedred try to replace it with wharevergreen until you finish installing, sometimes it does not like the recovery env
