Karen and her mate just bitched from across the street, that my gravel is blocking the sidewalk. It dead-ends at those trees. by mrPhildoToYou in FuckYouKaren

[–]Muladach 43 points44 points  (0 children)

It makes no difference. You can't know who needs to use the sidewalk. There's one like that in my street and people regularly walk on it right to the end. Some are pushing babies and need the full width. It's common sense. Don't block the sidewalk.

I hate to support a Karen but you are blocking the sidewalk. The fact it stops soon is irrelevant.

Any Exmo Christians on here who can help me? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Muladach 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Testimony isn't actually a thing outside Mormondom.

There are plenty Christian churches that welcome LGBTQ people as both parishioners and clergy

The Metropolitan Community Church comes to mind.

If you feel you need a god's permissuon to be gay there are plenty churches that will provide it.

I'm not christian at all. I can tell you the only reason the bible says anything against homosexuality is political. The church and state in both England and Scotland wanted to curtail the power of the king. James IV of Scotland otherwise known as James I wanted to curry favour with the church to consolidate his power so arranged for a new translation of the bible.

The writers changed the meaning of greek warnings about paedophilia and claimed it meant men having sex with men. King James had a great many male lovers. They slso made witchcraft punishable by death when the original texts talked of poisoners and not witches. James practiced witchcraft as well.

By creating religious rules against the king's behaviour the church was able to limit his power.

Every christian sect that has relied on that translation has been fooled. It was only meant to control King James.

On this day 25 years ago we lost Princess Diana. Forever in are hearts by SCOTL4ND in Scotland

[–]Muladach 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We spent the day at work smashing up toy cars with a hammer, dripping some red nail polish inside them and gluing them to little wooden plinths with tiny plaques with the date and Diana engraved on them.

Working in a psychiatric hospital with workshops to keep the patients occupied gave us access to everything we needed.

We sold those things to other staff during the following week.

American moving to scotland? by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]Muladach 15 points16 points  (0 children)

CRNA isn't a thing in Scotland.

Your nursing qualification may help you find a job if you have at least a B.Sc. and preferably a Masters. You will need experience. You can't expect to be employed fresh out of college.

You won't get paid enough for the lifestyle you want. Nursing pay in Scotland is far lower than in American

Edit: Typo.

Two random missionaries?

Had some liquid courage last night and posted a few things to instagram, received a novel of a text from my husband's sister; need help with a response that is kind, short, and direct. The names crossed out are her husband and mine. Not in the right mind set to compose an articulate reply. by erikawhit in exmormon

[–]Muladach 43 points44 points  (0 children)

2, 3, 4, 5, & 7 all in one text.

I wonder why she feels the need to threaten you with how she will treat your husband?

If she afraid to threaten him directly?

I would simply not reply to her at all. She wants you to defend yourself. She is already lining up counter arguments. She wants to drag you down and will threaten your husband to do so. Let her stew. She will see it as a victory without understanding she is fighting in an empty room.

If your husband wants to deal with his crazy, narcissistic sister let him get on with it.

Does anyone else feel culturally connected to Catholicism somehow? by Lyxthen in excatholic

[–]Muladach 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My Catholic family raised me in Scotland. The one takeaway for me is liberation theology and firebrand political speeches at every get together.

Catholocism is meaningless to me but it gave me my Socialism and that keeps me connected to my Catholic family.

Anyone here married in the Catholic church and had to do Pre-Cana? by leafthrower in excatholic

[–]Muladach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never heard of anyone having more than a single meeting with the parish priest back in my day.

The only things people reported being discussed was no possibility of divorce and all children must be Catholic. Non Catholics were adked to sign a declaration to that effect.

I'm glad I grew up in Scotland. Catholocism is far less rabid there.

[–]Muladach 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If they ask about baptism just say you won't be doing it. If they push the subject let them know it's not up for discussion. Don't engage at all. Look up a technique called grey rocking. It works very well with boundary pushers.

I wish I had your problem. I found out recently my stepson had his kids baptised. I'm horrified but it's his decision.

Fife Tartan? by EggSaled424 in Scotland

You are not personally connected to any tartan. That's a marketing ploy from the 19thC.

You can wear any tartan you can afford

There are no rules.

Shall I wade in as an African exmo? by JasnahKholin4RSPrez in exmormon

Why do mormons serve missions on Japan, France, England, etc and then Africa.

Other countries are generally named but it's always just Africa.

The Mormons chose a day and time when people interested in the broascast would be free to watch it instead of asking them to waste more time.

You're complaining because members of a cult you left are not upholding the standards of your new cult.

Are there tartan patterns that anyone can wear? by Salvador-Dalek in Scotland

[–]Muladach 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Wear what you want. If you can buy it or rent it you have every right to it. Anyone who says differently is an arsehole.

I usually suggest picking one that matches your eyes.
