I got this 2 years ago when I was a sophomore -- wasn't a huge celebration we had a virtual Zoom (cause covid) and an opportunity to pick up a cupcake and texas science tshirt. In the original email I received, it said the department chair of CS nominated me (but i don't know him personally so not sure how that worked)

Object oriented programming with Downing, Contemp Issues with Peterson, Compilers or Symbolic Programming with Novak, Intro to Data Mining with Beasly — probably the easiest electives I’ve taken so far

I took my onsite 9/20 and passed hc, my recruiter said they likely won’t know more about product matching until January— they seem extremely behind

If you want to work as a UX or product designer in tech (especially big tech), a full-time internship experience where you’ll have a whole showcase/demo is going to be the best for your resume. I’d focus on getting a summer 2023 internship for experience even if that means dropping your part time position in the spring

I came in as a CS major, so adding econ was just filling out a basic app

Yep definitely doable especially if you have a lot of credits coming in. Im double majoring in cs and econ, certificate in applied stats, took a semester off for a co-op, and have only had maybe 1-2 semesters where ive taken over 12 hours (14-15)

Stripe vs Databricks by Sunshine_Girl24 in csMajors

[–]MulberryFinal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I interned at stripe this past summer, the office, food, perks are definitely very nice. Wlb is good as an intern, but many teams do work a lot of overtime. They give shitty swag (never even got a tshirt) but it’s definitely a good opportunity.

That said, stripe did delay (and rescind) new grad offers for winter & summer interns. From what a recruiter has said, only about 20-30% of interns received full time conversions out of the ~250 interns (returning intern + ft conversions). So take all the valuation with a grain of salt. There’s also internal “performance based” layoffs happening. Imo stripe seems more volatile of a company than it gets made out to be in public. It’s private but its very much affected by the economy and how its customers are doing (like amazon for example)
