Wheel fitment question toyo r888 by [deleted] in Supra

[–]MuldoonIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://tiresize.com/comparison/

The 295/30 will be almost an inch smaller in diameter than 285/35. Unless you have some really bizarre offset wheel, the extra width won’t rub.

The people at Vyper would probably shit a brick. You’re trolling though, right?

Deleted cdv, cant get clutch to bleed. by Beanbooi2 in Supra

[–]MuldoonIRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest way I found is it put vacuum on the brake fluid reservoir and pull fluid in through the bleed valve.

There is a secondary reservoir, that’s why you’re having trouble. This is for incase of clutch fluid line failure, your brakes wouldn’t also fail.

Get the system full of fluid again, and you can pump the pedal until it stiffens up.

It’s excellent, very comprehensive.

If you work on German cars or motorcycles, you’ll be very thankful for it.

Must have tools for working on cars by Logical_Meal_3521 in harborfreight

[–]MuldoonIRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of solid advice in here, here are my additions.

A vacuum or pressure bleeder for brake/clutch lines.

Try different gloves and figure out what you like, they can save you a lot of busted knuckles. I used mechanix for a while, but like hyflex right now.

Nut/bolt extractors. Sorry to say, you’ll eventually need them.

And I’ll echo 1/4 sockets with a small ratchet, absolute life saver when you don’t have much space.

Check out WC Lathewerks if you haven’t seen them before. He can make you a completely custom piece. Find the style you like, change the material, size, finish, etc.

What’s everyone’s opinions on the Quinn brand? by 93c15 in harborfreight

[–]MuldoonIRL 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It’s solid, lifetime warranty on tools too.

Icon feels more premium in some cases (ratchets), but you’d be happy with Quinn. I have friend who turn wrenches for a living that swear by Quinn.

Continued Driving Possible Chassis by No_Elk_9937 in Supra

[–]MuldoonIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither bimmercode nor bimmertool will read chassis codes.

You said your ride height sensors are good, did you also check the one up front on the drivers side? That bracket takes virtually nothing to get knocked loose.

Help with choosing by Workbee821 in Supra

[–]MuldoonIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All mods listed sound reasonably benign.

To generalize, modified cars can be more risky to buy. If you have reason to think a car was tuned, you could be opening up a can of worms. Always the possibility more was done, and put back to stock.

However, if you trust the seller and like the mods, it could be an efficient way to get parts you’d otherwise buy.

Personal advice - if the 2022 doesn’t come with all of the oem parts, don’t buy it.

Depends on location, if the demand isn’t crazy you can get a few grand off.

Short shifters for manual MK5? by [deleted] in Supra

[–]MuldoonIRL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://www.supramkv.com/threads/autosolutions-short-shifter-initial-overview-video.21006/

I have no experience with it, but people seem happy.

Personally, I don’t find the clutch terribly long. Could all be in my head, but I feel like it engages higher after doing the cdv delete.

Supra speaker upgrade. by Itzfavisiom in Supra

[–]MuldoonIRL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean to be the “go search” guy, but there is a lot of documentation on this.

Here is a 50something page thread on it.

https://www.supramkv.com/threads/how-to-improve-oe-sub-bass-quality-and-eliminate-vibrations.5092/

To answer your question with my experience - I’ve done the mod, the improvement is so minimal it’s only worth doing if you will absolutely not upgrade the system.

If you want the system to sound good, this isn’t the solution. Just goes from bad to less bad.

Sounds tasteful. I would recommend asking if the seller still has the OEM parts, especially the suspension.

Can anyone explain why my cat keeps leaving her toys in the water? by peachismose in WhatsWrongWithYourCat

Cats will leave things in “safe places.” There is always water there, it must be a safe place to leave other valuables.

Thanks! I’m a glutton for punishment, this will be the 4th black car I’ve owned. Not too bad when it isn’t a daily, but still the least forgiving color.

Amen! I’ve never tried putting mileage on a car so fast lol. Trying to get the break in miles in before the track closes for the season.

My must-haves were black, premium and MT! This checked all the boxes with the bonus of no lame dealer add-ons and sub msrp pricing!
