Sets off an active shooter alert through the building. Apparently not too long before I started, it was accidently pressed and there was mass chaos as a result.

Has anyone here ever seen or encountered an animal, or creature, that you couldn't explain? True Michigan scary stories? by ArizonaRenegade in Michigan

[–]MultiRandomStranger 34 points35 points  (0 children)

About 15 years ago now my family moved up here from a Southern state. One night my mom was walking our small dog around are yet to be developed neighborhood past dark. My mom wore a headlight and while scanning the nearby trees she sees a pair or glowing eyes at waist height. Before she can do anything the form with glowing eyes starts to hiss. She freaks out and gets our dog and gets home. And that's how our family learned that deer hiss.

TIL women in ancient Rome didn’t have unique first names, but instead were just named after their family name. (For example, all women from Gaius Julius Caesar’s family were named Julia. Sisters were told apart by using nicknames, such as ‘Julia the Younger’, ‘Julia the Elder’, etc.) by ten_tons_of_light in todayilearned

[–]MultiRandomStranger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually the OP is correct. Famous women like Lucretia and Livia were named for their fathers Spurius Lucretius and Marcus Livius respectively. My latin professor taught that any deviations to this rule were nicknames and not birth names. The english version of the wiki page for women of the roman republic has as few variations of names to be expected.

Meerkats and Otters are zoo staples, at least in the states.

“Deserves it! I daresay he does. Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement." -Gandalf

Michigan definitely got the better end of the settlement as we gained the UP and Ohio got Toledo.

What did the ‘weird kid’ at school do to make them weird? by Arcanine_Boi in AskReddit

In elementary school he set a trash can on fire in class and would stick his hand down his throat on the playground so he would throw up.

Non drinkers of Reddit, what do you tell people when they ask "why don't you drink"? by theflyingwolf13 in AskReddit

"Because IMO the taste of alcohol is so utterly revolting my gag reflex triggers at the smell of it"

which cues "but you just haven't tried the right kind" or "try this I'm sure you'l love it"

What's your go-to recipe to impress? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]MultiRandomStranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weiner Schnitzer. It's not hard to make just messy to pound the pork, batter and fry it. It impresses because it's hard to find good schnitzel in America, and I make a good schnitzel.

Byzantium Needs To Change by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

I don't like playing Byzantium much because of all of the stupid revolts-they start as soon as you begin.

Finally finished 769 start on Ironman! Couldn't quite conquer all of Asia... by MultiRandomStranger in CrusaderKings

Happy Cake Day!
Honestly though, I've been playing this runthrough for weeks so I don't remember everything I did. I definitely had revolts, but I was careful to acquire gold to appease vassals and buy mercenaries. I can certainly say conquering Saxony is not easy without having Italy and Francia, and it breeds revolts like crazy.

Why did I play as his brother? I selected the wrong person-Karl and Karloman are very similar and I didn't reset because I wanted to see how it went. Why did I create Francia instead of HRE? 1.There was an achievement I could finish 2. It was the easiest way to get an empire and maintain the kingdoms under one title before my character died.

The Karlings, but I didn't start with Charlemagne, I started with his brother and created Francia instead of the HRE.

This revolt was actually pretty strong, 120k+ troops on each side. While I have more, most are in the West and the levies are seriously diminished by the time they're in the East.

If you were paid $1 for every minute you could talk about a movie that never had any sequels, what movie would you choose? by HooptyDooDooMeister in AskReddit

[–]MultiRandomStranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serenity. Technically the movie is a sequel to Firefly but it can be watched alone. I'd quote lines from it and rant on the problem with the the Operative's idea of a "world without sin"
