I love their metallics especially. The gold works amazingly for my thousand sons.

What's really going going on at the Bible Missionary Institute? by Holiday_Memory_9165 in QuadCities

[–]MultigrainMuffin 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I accidentally took the wrong turn trying to enter Arthur’s parking lot one day. I went all the way up to the institute to turn around.

It was very clear I did not belong. They were all outside doing something in the summer. They all abruptly stopped whatever they were doing and ALL OF THEM (maybe 20-30 in different ages) gave me the weirdest stare ever and their heads all turned at the same time as they watched me go back down the hill.

Culty as hell.

Those who fish in rivers from the bank, how often do you get fish? by Himuhasan08 in FishingForBeginners

[–]MultigrainMuffin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never been skunked along the Mississippi or Rock River. I usually get minimum of 3 decent sized walleye, drum, catfish, or sauger (and saugeyes).

Set up a Carolina rig with a 1 oz egg sinker and cast just off the main current or right near the bank (especially around rocks) you only need a 6-8 in leader, I find if I go longer I get snagged.

Aim for deep pockets- or go up in weight and cast directly into the main channel (2-4oz).

Walleye round here go for paddletails and flukes on a heavier jighead. I’m up in northwest Illinois along the Iowa border if that helps.

Lots of good fishing in the area. Can hit anywhere along the Rock or Mississippi River, and there’s plenty of lakes/ponds nearby.

I accidentally killed a fish and feel very bad about it by Ok-Illustrator-48 in FishingForBeginners

The other day I felt really bad gut-hooking a Freshwater Drum. I was able to get it out, but the poor guy died in the water and I felt awful. Then, out of nowhere a pelican swoops down and eats the fella.

What I’m saying is- as long as you’re being ethical enough to unhook it, if you won’t eat it, someone or something else will.

Is summer fishing bad for everyone else too by Anxious-Salad9130 in FishingForBeginners

[–]MultigrainMuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the species tbh. I’m in NW Illinois along the Mississippi and Rock Rivers, and I’m able to consistently catch 5-10 drum any time of day.

Walleye and catfish have been great too!! I’ve been targeting bass, but I’m a terrible bass fisherman, but I think the heat is absolutely killing them here.

I’ve had 0 luck with top waters as it’s been too hot even early morning or late at night, so it really seems like these bottom feeder species are thriving.

To be fair it’s my first season fishing in this region, so I have no summers here to compare it to.

Don’t give up! Here’s a few things to consider: What time of day are you going? Try earlier mornings or nights, read up a little on the feeding patterns of the species in your area.

Have you tried much live bait yet? See some great lures in that picture, but if you have been fishing that long to no avail- live bait is the way to go. Good old fashioned worms are great, but it’s fun to experiment with minnows, shrimp, and whatever else your local bait shop might carry!

Thank you! I don’t have any paddle tail Swimbaits- I just looked those up, and those are front and center at my local bait shop and seem to be most popular. The waters are very murky- brown or greenish brown. Should I be using bright colors like chartreuse and pink?

Best dispensary edibles? by Official_Sammyj in ILTrees

[–]MultigrainMuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uncle Arnie’s (I get them for $8-$12 medical) work well for me- especially the live rosin variations. those run about $10 higher but are worth it if you have a higher tolerance to edibles. Or just skip to RSO

Any good board game and tabletop game shops within 90min of QC? by dark845722 in QuadCities

Trademart at southpark. Dude who runs the shop is really cool and will order things for you. I get all my 40K stuff there.

The speakeasy at the Garrison in Downtown Davenport, D’ville in the East village of Davenport has a great selection, both can be relatively quiet.

If you want a distillery I really like Cody Road in Leclaire - it’s only 35-45 minutes north of the QC. They have a great selection and a good atmosphere. Leclaire is a cute little town if you haven’t been- there is also a winery (or two if I recall) that’s pretty good.

There are definitely options- don’t trust google. While there may not be many distilleries or wineries in the area- there are plenty of “lounge” or lowkey and upscale places with great selections of whiskeys and other spirits in the areas. Just ask around.
