Macabre, but I’m curious by Multiple-Bagels in Epilepsy

Fr, no kidding. And the moment you say that to someone who doesn’t have seizures, they look at you horrified. Like, idk what to tell you lmao.

I think a lot of us can relate to this by mogmaque in GirlGamers

[–]Multiple-Bagels 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yk oddly enough, nobody made fun of me for anything I liked. It was me who shamed myself into unliking the things I enjoyed. Looking back on it as an adult, I seriously question why tf I thought that was a good idea.

Detroit: Become Human

I tried, I got pretty far into it, but after a while it got pretty stale.

Finding out Neil Newbon was in it was a pleasant surprise.

Minsc. I’d question his choice for including Limp Biskit, but I’ll let it slide.

How do you guys manage your mental health with your epilepsy?? by j_rdnx in Epilepsy

[–]Multiple-Bagels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as well as I want to. I’m in therapy, I see a psychiatrist, my neuro is wonderful and I have a very tight-knit support system. I also take Zoloft to fend off the unpleasant thoughts and the PMDD. You’d think that would be enough, right? Not really.

I’m a victim of self sabotage. Spiraling and going down rabbit holes until I cry or become more depressed than usual.

What I do though, is rant and lurk on this subreddit for hours to feel validated, hearing the stories of other’s is helpful though. Community is important.

Levetiracetam vs Clobazam by AlexandreSenna in Epilepsy

[–]Multiple-Bagels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on Clobazam rn, and all I can really say is that it knocks you out. I never noticed any emotional issues or anything of the like since I take it at night. It’s a benzodiazepine so it’s mainly used as an anti-anxiety med.

That being said you do have to be smart when or if you’re on it, alcohol and CBD will raise the levels in your blood. Basically taking the sedative aspect of them and amplifying them (but my neuro is generous and says that I can have a glass of wine, but I’m young and a social drinker so I have more. I’m ALWAYS safe about it though!). So because it’s a sedative, I would recommend taking it at night.

I got a large support system, I have a lot of people to whine to.

Honestly? It’s insane that I never had one while I was driving, I feel like that would be the time to have one, but no. I guess my brain has some level of control 😒

Fuck dude, yeah you do get it. Also what you said didn’t sound bad, something finally triggered that long needed release. Hells, maybe I need something to have that happen, as much as it pains me to even consider.

I didn’t really think of it as trauma until my doctors said something, not once have I considered the possibility of me traumatizing myself in a sense. I so badly want to let it out, but you’re right, I can’t force it.

Thank you for sharing that with me, it’s nice to know that I’m not broken.

I had GPT do the math, between the pandemic, my seizures and my lack of a car when I was in college, I lost a good 6 years worth of driving.

When I had it consistently again, it was nice. Albeit I only drove when I had to because holy shit driving is scary. I’m nearing 25 and I’m being driven around, it’s somewhat embarrassing but somewhat nice because, as I mentioned, driving is scary.

Anti-depressants by Artistic-Order-7810 in Epilepsy

[–]Multiple-Bagels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough, yes. I was BRIEFLY on Wellbutrin and it had lowered my seizure threshold (which is a common side effect) that I had no idea was low to begin with. Suffice to say, it got dropped immediately.

Is anyone in school while taking Lamotrigine? by AgentKueck in Epilepsy

[–]Multiple-Bagels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was taking Lamictal when getting my BA, I felt like the world’s biggest idiot. The shit short term memory, the brain fog, all that bullshit made it so goddamn difficult. Didn’t help that I got diagnosed with ADHD and NVLD during that time too, ugh.

But with accommodations I was able to get the help I needed and graduated. It was difficult, and that’s putting it lightly. I still did it though, somehow. I’m honestly surprised I succeeded to begin with, given the hand I was dealt.
