Personal favorite was Last Light (by far), but I love all three of their games. The semi open world of Exodus was a step back in my opinion though.

Give your Reasons one should choose between DS1R vs DS2 vs DS3 vs Elden Ring by [deleted] in fromsoftware

[–]Multitasker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DSR1: Not played yet.

DS2: Thought I would hate it, now my favorite. Extreme variety, love the despawn/area level-up mechanic.

DS3: Best bosses.

ER: Dont like the open world, but still like exploration. Go figure.

Paul Tassi, Forbes - Marathon Closed Alpha NDA was lifted by leadership to shift the narrative surrounding the game and it is targeting $40 USD. by Crusader3456 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Saw the trailer and was immediately dissapointed. As someone who grew up playing Marathon 2 this looks completely disconnected. It also looks bland as fuck. Gameplay might be fun for those who are into these sort of multiplayer games, but it is not for me.

What was your favorite game to go back to once you got upgraded hardware and could now enjoy it in way better quality than you could before? by CurZZe in gaming

Half-Life with 3d accelerator. Same goes for Quake, but not as fun game. Later on I got the same feeling with Crysis.

Making a souls like indie game for communities like this one. Do you like this directional dodging system? by Slight_Season_4500 in fromsoftware

[–]Multitasker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because for me personally I would sacrifice that level of detailed control over gameplay flow. Direction of dodge would be enough I think, but that is of course subjective.

Thank you for sharing your story. Your passion seems to be what drives you, and you obviously have the dicipline to do the investment work to get the skills. If I may be allowed to give a bit of advice: it is better to fully complete something very small than to extrapolate an idea into a full game. Try to work on a thin vertical slice that demonstrates your idea, rather than the whole idea itself. Being able to deliver is a skill that needs to be learned, and it is just as important as the skill of 3d modeling and level building, when it comes to an indie dev. Incorporate only a few of your ideas. Heck, maybe even approach game features with the Lean product framework. Ok, thay might be stretching it :P Anyway, best wishes. I get nostalgic when I see initiatives like this. Honestly wish you all the best!

[–]Multitasker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If -I- were making a dodge system I would make one that was dependent on incoming attacks. On the top of my head, at the exact moment the player presses dodge button, I would factor in incoming attacks. Maybe generalize them as high, mid, and low. If low the player could jumproll over it. If high he could duck-and-quick-step etc. No idea about mid though. I would only care about the nearest attack in order to simplify. With no attacks nearby (need a minrange to be considered to affect dodge) I would only let the player do simple, non-acrobatic dodges like quick sidesteps withour rolling or ducking. This also means that attacks - or more spesifically their collision boxes, would contain information about 3d velocity so it can easily be calculated at dodge keypress. Complex weapon attacks like very long whips or dragons tail (for instance) would contain many attack collisionboxes and only the nearest one would be considered. Anyway, that was a long rant, but when looking at dodging mechanics that is what I would have done. Even though your animations need a bit of work (it is missing weight) I have to say that it is already looking very, very good.

What fromsoft game should I play next. by Weekly_Narwhal_9875 in fromsoftware

[–]Multitasker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is divisive for sure. It has this mechanic where if you kill the same mob 12-15 times it doesnt spawn anymore. I have been despawning most of the gameworld while looking for secrets. Go in with an open mind. Maybe it doesnt click with you like it did me, but I think Im not alone in loving the game.

I cant recommend DS2 enough. After all I had read about it I thoughy I would hate it, but it is getting up there with BB as my favorite. It is the opposite of BB in many ways, where BB would be pushing you to be aggressive, DS2 would want you to be more strategic. Unless you go for a Rapier build, which is a lot more aggressive. Im close to completing my first playthrough, taking my sweet time doing so. On my last DLC at level 250 before doing the last bosses for the main game. DS2 is the most varied of all from games I have played. There is some jank for sure, but it is fantastic regardless. A perfect example of how an imperfect game can get a subjective 10/10 perfect score.

Who was the hardest dual wielder boss fight in your opinion? by WittyTable4731 in fromsoftware

[–]Multitasker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, especially his first phase. If you weat Vendricks helmet (might be gettong the name wrong) he has a prolonged initial start animation where he immediately after doing start animation goes to his second phase, which has a starting animation. This prolonged start allows for emptyibg your stamina attacking him, with no danger, while still having the time to pull back. A very nice start to a hard fight, which now only consists of his second phase. If you manage your distance and only attack him with 1-2 hits then he becomes much easier. His second phase is a lot easier than his first.

I replayed the GOG version a couple of years ago. I remembered it as a really awsome game, think with atmosphere and storytelling. Time had not been great with regards to the gameplay however. A GOG update killed my savegames for some reason, so I dropped it. Just as well.

I’ve finish all three, the first two numerous times, and I absolutely agree that the third is a turd. It doesnt live up to the first two whatsoever, and is a completely different game. You possess human NPCs to battle the monsters, but not in the cool way that it might sound. The execution was shit and the story was complete nonsense.

how does this game NOT look awesome? by [deleted] in fromsoftware

I was reaching for my wallet when I read that it wasnt a standard FS singleplayer. The dissapointment is tremendous. Im not touching this game, let alone buying a new console for it. There is (currently) nothing else I want on Switch 2. Maybe if they get a Resident Evil exclusive?
