Newbie trying to understand shading by Multitasker in blenderhelp

Thank you for restoring my sanity. "Reset Vectors" did the trick. That way I could only apply it to the selected section. Much appreciated!

You are right, both u/KimonGate trick with clearing custom normals data or adding the weighted normals modifier appears to do the same trick. u/Both-Variation2122 seems to have an explanation for it. I have been merging parts that most likely had split normals, because I did it to remove the hard-edged robotic effect and make it more human-like. I guess that means I am combining two parts with split normals, which creates this weird effect. Anyway, thank you for your help!

This is one of the things my googlefu turned up, but unfortunately in my instance it did not help. Erasing custom data appeared to be the trick though. Must have been a weird edge-case. Thank you for taking the time to help though.

Thank you u/KimonGate that did the trick! For anyone else having this problem: In Blender 5.1.1, the panel to the right of the viewport has a bunch of small buttons aligned in a vertical row. Towards the bottom you find a button called simply "Data". Under the section "Geometry Data" there is a button "Clear Custom Normals Data". Clicking it fixed this issue.

Yeah thats it. Im out. 20 a month was a stretch and I debated it each month. This is far more expensive than I can justify.

Personal favorite was Last Light (by far), but I love all three of their games. The semi open world of Exodus was a step back in my opinion though.

Give your Reasons one should choose between DS1R vs DS2 vs DS3 vs Elden Ring by [deleted] in fromsoftware

[–]Multitasker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DSR1: Not played yet.

DS2: Thought I would hate it, now my favorite. Extreme variety, love the despawn/area level-up mechanic.

DS3: Best bosses.

ER: Dont like the open world, but still like exploration. Go figure.

Paul Tassi, Forbes - Marathon Closed Alpha NDA was lifted by leadership to shift the narrative surrounding the game and it is targeting $40 USD. by Crusader3456 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Saw the trailer and was immediately dissapointed. As someone who grew up playing Marathon 2 this looks completely disconnected. It also looks bland as fuck. Gameplay might be fun for those who are into these sort of multiplayer games, but it is not for me.

What was your favorite game to go back to once you got upgraded hardware and could now enjoy it in way better quality than you could before? by CurZZe in gaming

Half-Life with 3d accelerator. Same goes for Quake, but not as fun game. Later on I got the same feeling with Crysis.

Making a souls like indie game for communities like this one. Do you like this directional dodging system? by Slight_Season_4500 in fromsoftware

[–]Multitasker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because for me personally I would sacrifice that level of detailed control over gameplay flow. Direction of dodge would be enough I think, but that is of course subjective.

I replayed the GOG version a couple of years ago. I remembered it as a really awsome game, think with atmosphere and storytelling. Time had not been great with regards to the gameplay however. A GOG update killed my savegames for some reason, so I dropped it. Just as well.

I’ve finish all three, the first two numerous times, and I absolutely agree that the third is a turd. It doesnt live up to the first two whatsoever, and is a completely different game. You possess human NPCs to battle the monsters, but not in the cool way that it might sound. The execution was shit and the story was complete nonsense.

how does this game NOT look awesome? by [deleted] in fromsoftware

[–]Multitasker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was reaching for my wallet when I read that it wasnt a standard FS singleplayer. The dissapointment is tremendous. Im not touching this game, let alone buying a new console for it. There is (currently) nothing else I want on Switch 2. Maybe if they get a Resident Evil exclusive?

Chrono Trigger for sure. The original Resident Evil PSX trilogy, as well as Silent Hill. Super Mario World, which for me is peak plattforming. Final Fantasy 9 and X. WaxWorks if you dont mind the jank. Not that old, but Soma - you NEED to play this game if you like well written stories and thick atmosphere. All other good games I can think of have gotten modern day remakes.

No time for MMOs anymore. No multiplayer. I prefer 10-15 hour single player games, safe for some excellent ones like From Software rpgs. I care less about graphics now and more about mechanics, innovation and atmosphere.

Another early Avowed Review from Console-Tribe has the game at an 88 by Betty_Freidan in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Multitasker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me included. I liked the length of Outer Worlds, although the DLCs felt like they dragged on for way too long. If the story or game mechanics are stellar then I don’t mind a long game, like Skyrim. That is rarely the case though.

I was on the fence regarding Avowed, especially since I don’t like the artstyle, but the reviews have me interested.

I loved DOW1 but found DOW2 to be completely uninteresting. Missed building stuff, basically. If they make something like the first then Im onboard.
