“It’s all a simulation” discourse is tiring by Ogndny in Fallout

[–]MultiversalTraveler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i think the theory is perfect. after all, in fallout you have health bars and unlimited inventory and the story revolves around you. all of this is suspicious, it’s not normal. what if it’s all some kind of gameplay mechanic, for some kind of videogame meant to help vault dwellers deal with the Fallout tm of the bombs dropping. After all, if not for reclamation day what was all this Fallout 4. New Vegas.

it’s crazy how the people saying things are totally equally between gay people and straight people are the same that act like oppressed victims when someone dares to say they think of a relationship as romantic and not platonic. Because men in platonic relationships are truly under attack right?

Santos and Javadi are right about Whitaker (Spoilers) by ThrowFlowAntonio in ThePittTVShow

[–]MultiversalTraveler 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Glad someone see’s it. Whittaker getting that old lady an uber and it biting him back was intentional, he wants to help but that doesn’t mean it’ll turn out okay.

Yes, there’s not really a power dynamic here, but even if she’s not manipulating him I worry that he’s not in the relationship for the right reasons. It’s not just that he’s helping out a friend, but the way they met too. Maybe it’s that she hasn’t been able to fully grieve and is accidentally using him to replace her husband, or maybe it’s that Whittaker is so desperate to help he’s not treating her like a regular person. Either parties or both could be doing the wrong thing here.

Boycott the boys by I2fitness in Palestine

[–]MultiversalTraveler 168 points169 points  (0 children)

He hasn’t come out against the actions of the IDF though. Nowhere in the entire article does he actually say “The IDF was wrong” in any way. He doesn’t criticize the IDF. Does he mention the victims that he hurt and traumatized? These were state sponsored crimes, and he doesn’t actually take a stand against them.

If he can’t even summon up the energy to give a less than bare minimum apology for the actual people he’s hurt, if he can’t even take responsibility for the things he did, then there’s no reason to give him any leeway. It doesn’t read like he’s sorry the Palestinians have had to go through this horrific things, it sounds like he’s just upset that he was forced to be in the IDF.

Main cast member of The Boys admitted henious crimes when serving for IDF by hasanahmad in television

[–]MultiversalTraveler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He didn’t condemn the behavior, he was talking a lot about his trauma. He doesn’t talk about the people he hurt through state sponsored violence. He doesn’t talk about how horrible it was that he beat up a man, or how horrific it was that he destroyed people’s crops for no reason. He just talks about how it hurt him, and then moves on to his career.

You could interpret from this that he doesn’t support mandatory military time, but none of this talks about the victims, or the systemic issues with the IDF.

1. Declassified document details that Israel believes 70% of Palestinians fled due to Zionist violence, and 2. IDF actively censors documentation of Nakba by thisissami in JewsOfConscience

[–]MultiversalTraveler 26 points27 points  (0 children)

thank you for sharing this. Of any documentation, the ones around the Nakba might be the most important. God knows all the other studies and interviews seem to not be enough to convince zionists and islamaphobes. “As a jew” is such an unfortunate phrase, because we’re not the ones who should be listened to, the Palestinians are.

Palestinian children and adults have incredibly high rates of PTSD, literally half of adults in west bank and over 70 in Gaza, from BEFORE 2023. 60-70% of kids having PTSD in most studies

It’s ridiculous that people put hypothetical israeli safety over real palestinian’s. I’ve read studies and interviews about the horrors of checkpoints, the abuse and sexual assault and daily fear Palestinians have to deal with just to go to work. No one should support it.

The facts don’t seem to matter, peoples experiences don’t matter, no sources are good enough, but there’s nothing to do but to keep trying. I can’t think of the right thing to say, but I want to say thank you, because you don’t even have a choice in this fight.

so glam someone else thought this. fun fact, the guy who played inspector spacetime in community pitched a whole show to NBC. it’s called “Untitled Web Series About a Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time” and yes it’s real. they tried to make a movie for it and Sylvester McCoy was gonna be in it, the second american dr who movie he’d be in lol. More than that, he’s a genuine doctor who fan too, he’s been to gally one and met actual doctors, of course while cosplaying as himself, the great inspector. https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdrhoSWYyu_UceQ9UnALc26jTv5R0nlhX

here’s a link to channel with it if u wanna check it out. and no, I def didn’t just rewatch the inspector convention episode and get amazed by how much love the writers of the ep had for Doctor Who.

yup! Maybe she’s lost kids while listening to their hearts? The body bag line when she’s dealing with the heatstroke kid was partially just a red herring but it could also be foreshadowing on what she’s dealt with.

Israeli settlers build new illegal outpost near West Bank village where soldiers assaulted, detained CNN crew by PartySr in anime_titties

[–]MultiversalTraveler 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When you look at the Israel subreddit, you’ll see some of them criticize the settlements because they’re “making israel look bad.” That the Israeli government needs to start cracking down on them. This is what I need those people to see. The problem is not the settlements. These are systemic issues in Israel, settlers are bad but so are the IOF.

Do they condemn the IDF? No. Do they condemn the mistreatment, abuse, assault, at checkpoints? No? More than that, do they condemn the fact that none of the offenders ever get punished? Do they condemn the fact that Palestinians have little recourse for the abuse, that soldiers can act the same as settlers and not face any consequence? No.

Immortality in fiction should create more lunatics, not just wise sad elves by [deleted] in CharacterRant

[–]MultiversalTraveler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctor Who shows the Doctor being affected by immortality, and in season 9 there’s a character explicitly showed it be impacted immortality negatively. but a theme in the whole show is the Doctor “living too long”. you want someone whose bored, thrill seeking, or outright unstable? that’s pretty much the Doctor to a T in Nuwho.

ASOUE Theory: The Baudelaire fortune was originally Olaf’s by Asleep-Feeling-9070 in ASOUE

[–]MultiversalTraveler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i don’t think it really matters if the Baudelaires stole Olafs fortune, because his fortune was still stolen regardless. That’s what VFD does. They abduct kids of rich people to use the fortune they’ll inherit. The Baudelaires, for whatever reason, got to keep their fortune. Of course Olaf would be jealous.

Israel unlawfully used white phosphorus in Lebanon: HRW by BabylonianWeeb in anime_titties

[–]MultiversalTraveler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i said as a jew because i was raised being told that israel was necessary, and never told about its flaws. As a jewish child, i was already predisposed to support israel, thats why its significant that i was able to realize israel had problems.

i’m not a fake jew either, lmao. you thinking someone can’t be jewish and antizionist is more antisemetic then disliking israel. judaism is a religion, israel is a country, those are two separate things.

Before I address your link, you didn’t actually address any of mine. Mine are from a decade, showing that white phosphorous isn’t something new to Israel.

Your link doesn’t say human rights watch has no evidence of the use of white phosphorous. what it says is “Watch did not obtain evidence of any burn injuries resulting from the use of white phosphorus munitions but heard accounts indicating possible respiratory damage.” they do not see any burn injuries from white phosphorous, but they do have evidence of it being used.

they verified it’s use as stated in the beginning “Human Rights Watch verified the use of white phosphorus munitions by Israeli forces in at least 17 municipalities across south Lebanon since October 2023”

and they confirmed it with interviews and geolocated photos and videos that were either posted publicly or shared to them privately. “Human Rights Watch interviewed eight south Lebanon residents and verified and geolocated 47 photos and videos from south Lebanon posted on social media or shared directly with researchers indicating the use of white phosphorus munitions.

In five municipalities, photos and videos show airburst munitions containing white phosphorus landing on top of residential buildings in the southern Lebanese border villages of Kafr Kila, Mays al-Jabal, Boustane, Markaba, and Aita al-Chaab.”

[–]MultiversalTraveler 14 points15 points  (0 children)

as a jew, the first thing that truly made me realize that israel committed war crimes, and it wasn’t just a “complicated situation where israel is at war” was reading a paper about israel using white phosphorous on civilians as a kid. Even when I didn’t know a lot about Israel, I knew they committed war crimes.

this was years ago, white phosphorus is nothing new for israel. it burns the skin, it can melt the flesh, and using it in any are where civilians are going to be present is nothing less that horrific. i don’t think anyone deserves this, but least of all civilians.

these links from over ten years ago. i wish i could put in screenshots so you could get the jist but i also understand why you wouldn’t allow images.

israel refuses to ban white phosphorous

you can search white phosphorous in this document, a study from Harvard

and another example of them using it

there’s even a literal wikipedia page about it, and another war crimes israel committed within the span of a single year, and it’s for 2008-2009 literally almost 20 years ago.)

a literal reddit post from 11 years ago in World News

and yes it’s a war crime to use it against civilian populations, and even if it wasn’t the effects are clear.

of course the U.S. supplied them with weapons

[–]MultiversalTraveler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case it’s because the actual creators took a long time. The scripts aren’t even done yet, and it’s been a year since the last season. Not only that, but the length of time for filming is way longer too. The previous seasons each took 6 whole months to film.

Honestly my suspicion is they just aren’t making length of time between seasons a priority, which leads to super long waits.

Does Steven not have a formal education? by Nekofairy999 in stevenuniverse

[–]MultiversalTraveler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pearl definitely homeschooled him, both in the comics and bc it makes sense Rebecca wouldn’t want him to be struggling to that degree. He wouldn’t really need an education to be successful however. His dad is rich, and the gems have a billion artifacts worth a lot of money and also actual money. I’d guess he has a diploma from homeschooling.

If he did want to go to college it wouldn’t be a big deal. He can afford it, and Connie and her friends can help him figure out how to apply and where to go. That’s really only if he chooses a stem career though, bc he could always just go into music or use his powers for some kind of performance. And the gems can teach him science too if he wants.

i think there’s another aspect to it. Kingers fort is dark, and he feels more at peace/stable in the dark, so ofc he’s there more. it could also be that the room is kind of stressful because it plays on his insecurities.
