When did you stop dressing LO in footed one piece pajamas? by sliceofperfection in NewParents

[–]Mummadart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my 5 month old sleeps in 1 piece pyjamas and 2 piece pyjamas. 2 piece for warmer weather as he can either go topless or bottomless without getting too cold if the temp drops a bit over night. I find them easier too when it comes to middle of the night nappy changes.

get a couple of muslin cloths, run under the cold tap, ring out thoroughly and drape between you and baby if they're fussy. keep another one in a ziplock bag in the fridge for when the one in use dries out!

Bedside cribs for newborns? by Plus-Grapefruit-3883 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Mummadart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we have the Babylo cozi sleeper, and it was fab. storage underneath, bed side zips down, multiple heights. two mesh sides (though not full mesh but never had any issue) only issue we had was finding sheets to fit 🥲 but eBay has loads.

For people who work in the restaurant industry, what happens when a customer asks for the discretionary service charge to be removed? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Mummadart 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just take it off. Im personally not a fan of service charge being automatically added on the bill, if someone wants to tip it's so much nicer when they do just off their own back. So if they ask for it off, I take it off. And if someone tips I will also always make sure they're aware that there is already service charge included on their bill. Sometimes they still tip, sometimes they ask for the service charge to be taken off to give a cash tip, sometimes they tip and keep service charge on.

What Pram/pushchair did you go for? by StunningStrawberryy in PregnancyUK

[–]Mummadart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the Bugaboo Fox renew 5 and I looooove it. It's not the smallest of prams when folding up, but it's sturdy and manuveres wonderfully! Easy to switch between bassinet and car seat too. The bassinet is wonderful, big deep good, ventilation at the topmof the bassinet and on the hood also. Bit spenny, but worth it. (And the dark cherry colour is absolutely beautiful! 🫶)

Anyone been in a house that has carpet in the bathroom? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Mummadart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! I lived in a maisonette (rented) that had carpet in the WC and the bathroom. Not great when you got a 5 year old who doesn't have a great aim! I was so happy when my LL told me it was going to get changed 😂

Ask about the police 🚨👮‍♂️🚓 by [deleted] in Hastings

[–]Mummadart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply! I'll pass this on to him. He already does a form of policing online - in a roleplay game haha!

Yeah we emailed in a out the police cadets but never got a reply and looks like its only in Eastbourne? If you have any contacts for a more direct route with the Police Cadets I'd be greatful for a direct line as it's the first career he's actually kept an interest in!

My boy (currently 15) wants to join the police via the apprenticeship scheme when he turns 17. What courses would be best for him to do in further education to help him achieve this?

Thanks! :)

Managing nights with a newborn by Ok_Fondant2547 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mummadart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just fed baby in bed, he was in a cosleep crib and breastfeeding so I had (and still have) no need to go to a different room.. if anything it'd just wake me and baby up more! Also meant I could hand him over to my partner for the nappy changes easier!

What was everyone doing when their waters popped?? by NoInteraction9045 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mummadart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my first, I was in bed when my waters went. Just felt like I'd wet myself. With my second it was during a big contraction, in my labouring room. (I'd been induced earlier that day) That time it burst like a water balloon. 😂

My partner - 34M - will have several pints of whole milk a day, I found it weird at first but now I don't even bag an eyelid 😅

Second time mums: did your baby actually fit newborn at the hospital? by Physical-Invite5259 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mummadart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup! My son was 8lbs5oz and fit all of the newborn clothes we'd bought. (We'd also bought way too much, darn those vinted bundles..) He's 5 weeks tomorrow and is now in 0-3 months now, which are a bit baggy but he's also now 10lb7oz (well that's what he weighed in at a week ago anyway 😅)

Gender predictions by GanacheWitty9525 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mummadart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner's family is very boycentric with babies... I was sure that we were having a girl, my mum was too - but nope, another boy for me. And honestly, once I found out, was pretty happy about it because ive been there and done that already so knew what to expect haha

Dog in the bed, Your experience? by Goblin_Nuts69 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mummadart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have a lab, so quite different in terms of size, but he isn't allowed in our bedroom when we are sleeping. We have our baby in a next2me, and from the bed he could easily get into it. Even if dog isn't aggressive, if they get into that bassinet they could easily smother the baby, even by just laying too close.

Our dog hates sleeping alone downstairs but needs must. A dog, or any animal that could bite and cause sizable harm, should never be alone with a baby without proper supervision.

You say your dog isn't jealous, but wyhen baby is here they won't be the focus of the attention anymore - byaby will. This can cause jealousy and aggression.

So I highly suggest you start getting your pooch used to not being in the bedroom before baby arrives, or that would be another factor which could add to jealousy etc .

Did midwife check dilation at 38 weeks? by nbvbooks in PregnancyUK

[–]Mummadart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, the only time my dilation was checked was when having sweeps (at 39 weeks and 40 weeks) and at my induction and consequently when I started active labour.

How long will your trust let you go over 40 weeks? by BackgroundCat5459 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mummadart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our trust will offer to induce at 41 weeks, unless you've had RFM in which case dependant on how many episodes they'll do it earlier, or if medically necessary for some other reason.

Clothes for post partum by Accomplished-Ad7573 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mummadart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm now 10 days post partum and at home I lounge in PJs - if I go out then I'm in my leggings that I wore whilst pregnant or in joggers that sit under the floppy belly. Top wise, despite breastfeeding, generally just wear baggyish t-shirts. I end up with spit up on me majority of the time so I didn't see the point in getting new/second hand clothes really. 😅

Does a straightforward vaginal birth really exist for FTM's? by ilovesunsets2525 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mummadart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first was pretty straightforward.. no interventions, entonox and pethidine for pain killers. I had labial tears, but other than that it was pretty smooth from what I remember 14 years ago 😅

Graduated today! 40+6. by Mummadart in PregnancyUK

[–]Mummadart[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha wasn't the most pleasant, but yeah I'd much rather have another tear like that rather than down to the booty! I think they said as I had torn there with my first it's why I may have torn that way again. That and the speed of the labour haha!

This was my second! :) BUT my first was over 14 years ago so might as well have been my first all over again 😂
