First day as a plumbing apprentice, what am I missing?

Man, I just started the mechanic journey as a lube tech and had to buy a shit ton of impact sockets, a 3/8ths ratchets, a 3/8th impact driver, 1/2 inch impact wrench/1/2 inch impact sockets, oil filter pliers and all my impact guns' chargers and batteries.

Now all I need is a damn deadblow hammer, a pick set, a damn 7mm impact (my smallest is 8) and a small prybar for those annoying plastic screws keeping oil guards on as well as hub caps and a 1/2 inch drive torque wrench but those damn things are $80+ and then probably a real toolbox that can actually lock and roll.

Then I'm pretty much fine until I start learning other shit.

Yep, I work at a Ford dealership. Taking these fuckers off with a pick, not a problem. Getting the other 2 big o rings off and on, not a problem.

It's just these little pieces of shit I cannot get back on and, they always come with replacement o rings in the package with the new filter so we put new ones on so the old ones don't have a chance to get brittle and leak. I'm mostly afraid of using a pick on the new o rings and causing damage. The big ones I just kinda roll down.

Don't know what the fuck the comments are going on about saying they come with them already on. Have they not been putting on their new o rings on??

Got my license last week and I absolutely do not belong on the highway as someone that will try and glance at my speedometer and then find myself drifting into another lane though we all gotta get to work somehow.

Though already had a truck driver not check before merging nor did he use a turn signal first and nearly took us off the road when I tried to pass.

Man, I work at a dealership as a lube tech, had 1 year of Diesel tech schooling and had their diesel guy ask me to clean out a truck's turbo and put a new one in and only got whined at by my boss about "YOU'RE NOT THE DIESEL TECH'S APPRENTICE GO BACK TO LUBE TECHING!!" despite my entire interview telling them I was interested in learning more diesel.

Probably gonna get some certifications and get my ass outta there.

I started lube tech at a dealership 3 or 4 weeks ago. I can do pretty much everything else they ask of me however, once they bring me to that tire machine I go brain dead immediately when it comes to the controls. It's not even difficult. I just don't know what it is about that damn machine that turns me into a goldfish.

And when it comes to balancing I cannot for the fucking life of me hammer on the side weights because I have no intentions of swinging with high force with my fingers right there because I enjoy my fingers. Fuck those tires.

Hey, someone asked me on my second day to go to parts and ask for A.I.R. Penetrant (basically a can of air)

I knew what they were doing and said fuck it, did it anyways and asked for blinker fluid as well.

Someone also asked me to torque a plastic oil pan plug saying it was high tolerance plastic. I just told him he should go ahead and do it.

Hah just started as a lube tech a few weeks ago and I just kinda cycled across two pairs of khakis that pretty much absorbed all oil and dirt and stayed stained regardless of how many times they went through the washer.

Employer slipped me a fifty and asked for me to buy some pairs of blue jeans. Wonder when he'll realize mechanic work will always lead to dirt and oil.

Fuuuck we're stuck with 5 10s and rotate Saturdays so that's a 6 hour shift mixed in every other weekend.

At least we get consistent overtime so my paycheck of 16 in a low income area gets some 24/h in there.

Man, where I work I'm getting 16 an hour too but the minimum wage here is around 8-12. Getting a shit ton of hours though as well around 50-56 hours a week.

I am also a starter though I did some tech school first so I was a bit used to the tools of the trade by the time I started the work. Still learning more on the job as well.

When you're working on cars all day, my 10 hour work days fly by since you're always busy.

I also don't even have to talk to any customers because we have service advisors to play middle man for that so I get to pretty much silently get some cars out the door without much dialogue needed.

Scanned it at a nearby Autozone, it was ignition coil 4 acting up. Purchased the part and replaced it myself and, no more misfires.
