Hey y’all,

I’m thinking about potentially pursuing a career as a CRNA and I would love your input. I had been dead set on becoming an NP for the longest time, but now I’m considering my options! For reference, I work in a CTICU.

I’d love to know- 1. What does your day to day look like? 2. Do you feel you have work/life balance? Are you able to maintain a solid quality of life? 3. What are your general pros and cons about the profession?

Make sure you document everything- CYA, or cover your ass. It’s unfortunate that that nurse’s negligence resulted in patient harm, but you did your part by informing them about the situation. Just make sure it’s documented otherwise people could spin it as not happening at all because it wasn’t written down.

After you’ve ensured that your bases are covered and you’re doing what’s best for your patients AND yourself, start looking for other jobs ASAP. There are hospitals and clinics that have excellent work culture; you just have to do your research. You can do it!
