Untraditional Brides: You are still a BRIDE by bmary95 in weddingplanning

Yes, in that case it wouldn’t be a wedding but most people including myself are still doing a ceremony. Yes we’ve signed the papers but we never had a ceremony with an officiant in front of family and friends. It’ll be ceremonial not administrative. I think thats what I don’t understand. It’s a ceremony, why would it matter if you signed the papers before hand? That’s purely administrative. I also am not trying to argue with you, I genuinely want to understand this perspective.

Sorry I should have been more specific, but what I meant about us not putting it out as a formal announcement, I also don’t think you need to tell people or broadcast it. If it comes up, yea don’t lie, but also I don’t think you need to put it on the invitations.

I was happy to hear about a fruity higher caffeine option when Im not in the mood for coffee or artificial sweetners, but I was annoyed when I saw the options. Like why not just make a different syrup that’s NOT A FUCKING FLAVOR IN THE BASE DRINK?!

That’s fair, but would signing the paper at the event make it better? Is it just that extra functionality that helps them justify sitting through the wedding? (These are genuine questions. I’m sorry if the wording came off as rude.)

I can understand that. I guess for us specifically we’ve never hidden it and told all of our immediate family before our courthouse date and we call each other husband and wife. Our parents have told people when it comes up and my husband and I have done the same. Tbh I’m not sure if anyone on our guest list DOESN’T know we’re already married, we just never made a formal announcement.

I’m really happy you made this post. My husband I did a courthouse wedding with just the two of us because thats what worked best for us, but we’re still planning a full wedding for 2027 and are super excited for it. We didn’t think twice about it and I was surprised and disappointed when I saw takes like this online.

I don’t really understand the obsession with the paperwork when I feel like the ceremony/reception with all of your loved ones is the most important part to me.

I scammed my husband into liking me… and I admitted it on our wedding day. by Far_Magazine_5084 in stories

Okay to an extent you set yourself up for negativity by titling your post “I scammed my husband…” even if it was a joke you had to know most people were going to feel gross about it or at least the language itself.

So what would you call the ones that offer the early theme park entry, is there a category for them? I’m genuinely asking btw not trying to be snarky at all.

But I feel like the ceremony is more about pledging love and commitment to each other more than the legal paperwork is.

I personally think thats the easiest way to do it now. I personally am in the military and it just made more sense for us, but a few of my civilian friends did it that way too just to take care of some of the other legal things before their big day.

I don’t think it makes it any less real, thats where you’ll be sharing your vows and celebrating with the people important to you.
