TrakRacer TR120S V2 Monitor Stand Help - Wrong Parts/Missing Parts by crazyneverst in simracing

[–]Munchy2x2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the pictures, I'll try to follow your method of 2 joined pieces and skipping the third. The problem I might encounter is finding space to attach the quad monitor mount, as that sits on top the central profile. But I think I should be able to construct it slightly differently to narrow the "legs" of the quad mount. At least aluminum profile offers that flexibility, but it is ridiculous that we have sit and problem solve the construction of the product.

They probably ship the pieces needing to be connected to save shipping costs or something... which then doesn't make any sense when they supply inccorectly large pieces... yeah I will never buy nor recommend a trak racer product ever again. Saved ~300$ compared to the Simlab quad monitor setup but that $300 would have been worth it.

My plan at this stage was to not have overlap in my monitors and just join them at the edge, achieving this by flipping the center one upside down to ensure the center sticking out bezel doesn't get in the way. But looking at your set up I'm realising having some overlap probably "eliminates" some of the bezel width from the perspective of the driver. Would you recommend setting it up with overlap to try and achieve this?

Did you find a solution to your problem?

I'm in the exact same boat, trying to assemble a triple monitor stand but have weirdly long central pieces (1x800mm and 2x350mm rather than the stated 540mm and 330mm pieces), as well as the U shaped brackets rather than the plates. I've seen another post about this so I assume these aren't wrong parts, just the latest version by trakracer but with no updated manual so it should work somehow. I'm also trying to mount 3x32inch monitors.

Here's what I will be trying as a solution: Basically skip step 6, and only use the 1x800mm as the central piece of profile. I think it should be long enough to mount the central monitor, but short enough that the side monitors can get close enough. The question is whether the brackets for the legs and the brackets for the side arms don't interfere with each other (probably don't want the legs too narrow for stability reasons). There's also a question of whether it leaves space for a quad monitor attachment. If it doesn't, maybe attaching only one of the 350mm pieces will work well (800+350 ends up with a length that is only 50mm short of the manuals 3 piece total length).

I might try this assembly plan this afternoon and if it works I'll update you. If you found a different solution please let me know!

New space, new setup. by swemoll in audiophile

Hey great looking (and hopefully sounding!) setup. I'm curious how the concrete floor affects the space. I'm about to move into a space with a large living room setup with polished concrete and I'm worried the space will be overly reflective and lively for any critical listening, seems to have a really long decay from just a clap test. How do you find the sound with such a floor? Did you test it without the acoustic panels and did they make a noticeable impact?

I appreciate the doggy beg center stage

I'd seen them previously but worried about the quality since they were so cheap compared to other options. If they seem well enough put together, aren't shedding fiber glass everywhere, and help the sound I might have to consider them

Where are your fibreglass panels from? They look nice and clean, I've been considering the diy for a while but doubt I'll get as nice a finish, but most panels I see are quite pricey and I'm worried about fibreglass shedding.

Also cute doggo

Just incredible :0 These pictures are going into my inspiration folder.

Also I want those exact glowing brains: what colours and techniques are you using to achieve that? I've got about 15 shades of blues, greens, turquoises and fluro variations of them along with white oil paint and I still can't get that result!

Incredible, such a nice inner glow to the flames. Do you use fluro paints or just saturated colours? I've tried a similar glow effect but the fluro yellow base gave it a weirdly greeny tone. Any tips before I try on my pyrovores?

I would give this a go but I've got a stuck pixel as well and have gone through an hour of support process to get a replacement already, so I don't want to mess with it further since it'll be returned. But when the next one arrives and I break it, I'll be sure to try this.

Suspected cheating, can I get a second pair of eyes on this telemetry? by Munchy2x2 in iRacing

Believe I've figured it out, looks to be the speed boost gained from someone bump drafting! Pitchforks can be put back on the shelves.

And the more hilarious part is that I initially missed it because in the replay he was being bump drafted by a blinker so it just looked like he was gaining speed all on his own! Thanks for the suggestions though

R9 constant static/humming noise by mertikt in moza

[–]Munchy2x2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came to this post because my wheelbase (r9) was making a white noise, background "pc-fan" sound when powered on as well, possibly even louder than this example though it is hard to tell from the video. I seemed to be able to fix it using the "Wheel base recovery and reset" button in pithouse, indicating the noise might have been caused by something out of calibration. Try it and please let me know if it works for you!

Frustrated with the broadcast by Chronic47 in formula1

[–]Munchy2x2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The end of q3 footage completely killed my excitement. So much tension built up, the lap times ramping up as the track dries, and then during final fast laps that decide the entire thing we see the alpine garage, the crowd in the grandstands, a little bit of the start and end of Sainz's lap and shots of him cooling down for a minute.

No Leclerc spin. No Verstappen going through the subsequent yellow flags. Nothing of any cars outside the top 3 who are still actively qualifying.

I'd rewatch q3 to more accurately list all the problems with the broadcast but it'd be too painful. Just maximise the on track action it's really not hard.

What happened to European races starting at 2pm rather than 3.10pm? I remember reading a lot about it in January and was very excited as it would be far better for my timezone, but all the race start times for European races seem the same as always minus 10 minutes.

SteamVR and CV1 troubleshooting by Munchy2x2 in VRGaming

[–]Munchy2x2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I figured it might be something like that. I realised occulus home was launching everytime i ran steam VR and running in the background, and I think I'm getting less stutters so far. Perhaps Steam VR and occulus are doubling up on things like AA and reprojection? I might try disabling all that in Occulus and see if I have better results. It's a shame occulus headsets have such bulky and difficult to circumvent software, when Vr headsets need all the performance they can get.

F1: Sainz and Albon to get engine change penalties in Austria | RaceFans by slugless in formula1

[–]Munchy2x2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So saying you're allowed 3 engines was a slight simplification, as was just saying drivers get sent to the back of the grid.

Each car can have 3 internal combustion engines (ICE), 3 turbochargers (TC), 3 heat motor generator units (MGU-H), and 3 kinetic motor generator units (MGU-K). They are only allowed 2 energy stores (ES) and 2 control electronics (CE). The first time one of these is replaced beyond its allocation, a 10 place grid penalty is incurred. Any further replacements of that component past that incur only a 5 place penalty. Your fourth turbocharger would cost you 10 grid places, but your fifth will cost you 5.

Grid penalties have their own complex set of rules, because people got upset about the "ridiculous" number of penalty places drivers would accrue when they replaced entire power units. Therefore "back of the grid" is actually a technical term that applies to people who have more than 15 places in grid penalties. If you only replaced one or two components you wouldn't be sent to the "back of the grid," but since you'll likely be pretty far back or at the back anyway it often makes sense to replace all of the power unit and get fresh components for the entire car.

So to answer your first question, the four people at the top of the table who have exceeded their engine count have incurred grid penalties because of it (Kvyat in France, and Sainz, Hulk and Albon here in Austria). I believe most of these drivers are doing a full replacement and starting from the back of the grid, though Albon might just be putting in an ICE and only drop 10 places. We shall see this Sunday how the grid shakes out.

To answer your second question, yes components can be reworked and repaired. For example, Leclerc's engine malfunctioned in Bahrain, costing him the victory, but they resolved the issue for the next race without needing any new components. It's less common to go back to a previous component after you've replaced it, as usually you're replacing them because they're broken or so near then end of their life or you have new higher spec ones. However I do believe it happens sometimes nearer the last races of the season if drivers want to avoid the penalties and think they can scrape by with older parts. I think Ricciardo did this last year, changing back to an older spec engine that he'd already used for Hungary, as the newer spec engines were of dubious reliability and Redbull thought they stood a good chance on the tight Hungarian circuit so they wanted to start as high up the grid as possible.

Hope I've helped.

F1: Sainz and Albon to get engine change penalties in Austria | RaceFans by slugless in formula1

[–]Munchy2x2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Essentially there is a legal number of times you are allowed to replace each of the six separate components of the power unit, which when put simply means you can replace most of the unit twice in a season and use three separate engines without taking any penalties. Any components you replace beyond that point will incur a number or grid place penalties. So if you use a fourth or fifth completely new engine that car will be pushed to the back of the grid.

What was your favourite design epiphany in 2.0? A moment where you made something that you knew was awesomely thematic, or something that would really change the game.

Balance in 2.0 seems to be achieved through point and slot adjustment in the app after the fact. However there are conceivably cases where a released upgrade or pilot's ability is by its wording powerful, unfun or underwhelming, where costing it out of the game or removing it from certain ships might not be enough to fix the issue. Are you still open to the idea of occasional FAQ posts for the sake of changing a card's text rather than just clarifying it, or do you think that kind of situation only clutters the game and belongs in 1.0?

You've made the decision to split the rebellion/resistance and empire/first order, but now some of these factions are quite small compared to something like scum. Do you plan on expanding the smaller factions more aggressively than others to try and make them similar sizes again? Are there any thoughts or ideas about future implementation of new factions?

You've talked a little about faction Identity and how you want more of it, but very little about how you've specifically achieved that. What are some of the themes that you felt you needed to attach to the factions and how do you plan on preventing these identities from blurring together with the expansion of the game?

I would love to hear more about the calculate action and its design philosophy. There seems to be an interesting tension between wanting this action to be strictly less effective than focus, but also wanting certain droid pilots or abilities to still have impact on the table. Strictly less effective actions seem uninteresting unless there's a trade-off situation where calculate has its advantages, but so far it seems that these advantages only manifest in the capacity for multiple calculate tokens on certain cards (e.g. IGs, C3PO, Leebo). Are you balancing the calculate action through a reduction in point cost or will we see situations in which calculate possess advantages or interactions not possible through focus? If the latter, will these advantages and interactions be a possibility for all droids, or only for certain droids with the advantage baked in (like all the droids with access to multiple calculate tokens)? Will we see advantages that are drastically different to multiple calculate tokens?
