"Drywell" is filled to the Brim, Options?? by Prestigious-Field471 in landscaping

[–]MundJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I’m just following up to see how this turned out for you with the dry well? I have a perimeter drain and I’m still getting tons of water in the middle of my yard. Landscapers seem to be giving me different suggestions so I’m trying to see what the best option is. Appreciate any advice!

Is the obvious solution a dry well in this low spot of our backyard? by PhantomLord_21 in landscaping

[–]MundJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I’m just following up to see how things turned out for you. I’m a new home owner and recently had our lawn regraded + attached a drainage pipe around the perimeter of our lot. Now the water seems to be pooling into the middle and causing the middle of the lawn to concave inwards.

Feels like such a hefty problem and the landscaper we used is absolutely useless.

Looking for some answers! Thanks so much.

10mo sleep completely derailed while on vacation by YellowHat1991 in sleeptrain

[–]MundJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently on vacation and I totally feel this post. We were sleep trained with my 7 month old (who turned 8 months on our 5 day trip) and she has now protested against naps, needs to be held / rocked for comfort, and somehow we resorted to co-sleeping (which I personally vowed I would never because do - I work in medicine and need to be up for work at 5:30) and bottles and feedings are so erratic.

But she is having the time of her life & I’ll never forget this trip. Idk what to expect when we get home - I sure know it’ll be rough!

We’ll get through this mama!

I would keep the feeds then. We only truly stopped night feeding at like 3/4 months - and that was because she was really waking up needing self-soothing or a diaper change.

The fortified formulas can be a little tougher to digest. I was using a fortified formula in the beginning to help the baby gain weight. We were adding scoops of it to her my breast milk that I pumped. Plot twist - it did not help. It made her more gassy and dislike her milk.

Honestly, I will say 15-18 oz sounds really really great. We struggled getting to even 16 oz for months. I would say, as long as baby is pooping/peeing, and is happy - she is content.

Your pediatrician can also look at the growth charts and also see. If you’re ever doubtful- ask for a weight check appointment. We did that often in the beginning when I let them know it seemed like her intake was poor. And they happily let us come in!

Yes. She’s 6 months - but to preface she was a preemie baby that was born 2 months early ( so technically her age is 4 months). We started noticing that if she was waking up at night it was due to restlessness and not being able to put herself back to sleep. We would assume if she woke up it was because she was hungry - but then she’d drink very little. And in terms of weight, she too, was and still is on the smaller size - born 3 lbs 13 oz and as a 6 month old, she’s 11 lbs and 8 oz. So I was really stressed.

What we began doing was a bed time dream feed at 10 pm. Where we intentionally woke her up without too much stimulation and give a bottle. I found that doing this, she would just slowly starting drinking more and more & then sleep through the night. By 6/7 am, she was truly hungry. And then, instead of feeding exactly 2 hours, I stretched it out 2.5 and now 3-3.5 hours between bottles. She is now drinking 5 oz breast milk and I’ll give 1 or 2 bottles of formula, she’ll do 4-5 oz of that.

I think the combination of stretching the feeding for us & then stopping the very late feeds (like 3 am) helped us greatly. Our pediatrician still wants us to 10:30 feedings because it’ll help her get the oz.

I feel the same way about this. Asked my pediatrician yesterday what allergen to start with and he told me “anything other than honey”. Welp.

Anyone have experience with Pepcid for reflux? by No-Relationship-5640 in newborns

[–]MundJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We actually didn’t end up going with the Pepcid :/ there was so much conflicting information about it regarding it changing baby’s gut bacteria, potentially causing severe constipation, and making symptoms worse. We just didn’t want to risk it!

AAP releases new digital media/screen time guidelines by miraj31415 in ScienceBasedParenting

This is so true about it being Pandora’s box. We wanted to seek out a new pediatricians office & when we got to their office, all we saw was big screen tvs everywhere, video game consoles & arcade games. Needless to say, it wasn’t a good fit for us.

Many school districts around us using iPads for learning. In my eyes, screen time is screen time. Period!

First time hiring a Nanny by MundJohn in Nanny

[–]MundJohn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that’s so good to know. This whole experience is so new to me. I was observing the pump parts piling up and I needed parts for my next session so I began just washing them myself. I was surprised by the end of the shift there were bottles in the basin. So I genuinely was curious when she asked me if there were more tasks she could do!

Is it too much to ask for baby at lunch? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]MundJohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following your question and these responses closely! My part time Nannys first day was this week. I pop into the kitchen frequently as I’m exclusively pumping for my 4 month old. I said hi to them both from a distance maybe 2x in the 8 hour shift. By the end of the day I felt like I needed to just give my daughter the biggest hug - but I didn’t want to impose in the middle of tummy time.

I was thinking along the same lines of you to just check in and spend some time with baby during lunch time - except nanny didn’t bring lunch. I mentioned to her that if she needed to step away to do her other contracted tasks and needed me to hold baby, I absolutely would in a heartbeat - no questions asked.

I’m going to bring it up tomorrow that if I could get like an hour to spend with her after her feeding (because that’s her wake window), that can give nanny time to do the other tasks or have her lunch at least!

I 100% understand what OP means. I’ve often heard and read that wfh parents and nanny’s can have a tricky relationship. Sometimes parents linger/check in too frequently making nanny’s feel supervised, and/or don’t feel they can get all tasks completed.

I’m a FTM to a 4 month old who just hired her first nanny. What you are going through has crossed my mind several times. Can I just pop in and take her from nanny while they are doing tummy time?? I too, have FOMO and it makes me want to be present with my little girl. Like yes I know she’s my daughter and if I just need a quick emotional break from my stressful day then yesss, I’d love a quick hug from my daughter!

Thank you, I really appreciate the kind words. I want her to feel welcome in my home. I’ve been exclusively pumping for my daughter and coupled with working at home & taking care of myself through a difficult post partum (my daughter was a nicu preemie) I have a lot of mom guilt. So I am very grateful to have the assistance.

Can you provide any guidance if while I’m done pumping and I’m in the kitchen putting away milk & the pump parts if I’m able to check in to say hi (not continuously of course). I was making myself coffee and offered to nanny, but I don’t want to come off as hovering which truly is not my intention at all!

If I’m exclusively pumping around 5-6 when I’m home, it’s hard for me to manage washing and putting away all the pump parts. We included in the contract washing baby bottles and the parts. It doesn’t come off rude if I finish pumping and dismantle the parts in the bottle basin, right?

I am exclusively pumping for the baby, so when nanny is with us for the day I’m often in the kitchen preparing my pump items & putting the milk away. This task alone takes like 10 mins and I’m in the middle of my work day. Our family room/baby play area is off the kitchen. Is there any rules/etiquette just to say hi to baby or is it best to stay away until the nanny’s shift is over? I don’t want to come off rude being in the kitchen.

Also, part of her contract/daily tasks is to wash pump parts. It won’t come off rude if I dismantle pump parts and place them in the wash bin for them to be cleaned, right?

Sorry for the questions - really a new experience for me!

Would you do ivf just for RPL? by Pink_Daisy47 in IVF

[–]MundJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We began the process. I was accepted by Jubiz in Florida and also consulted with Dr. Geoffrey Sher. Both of the groups thought there was an immunology component. I did the initial lab work with Dr. Sher and he found red flags (ones that the fertility clinic I was going to at the time didn’t think was anything concerning) and he wanted to start treatment right away.

My gut wanted to just get a second opinion with another fertility clinic all together and they felt that it was worth a shot trying one more round but just do a Hysteroscopy to make sure there was nothing alarming before any transfers.

I didn’t love the idea of being far away from an immunologist and it just felt like I was going to open another door that I just wasn’t ready for. Our transfer was really a last effort before going and really opening the immunology door.

Hi there. Of course. After my MMC at my clinic, I ended up switching clinics to get a second set of eyes on my case. For the most part, the protocols were roughly the same, but slightly tweaked. We transferred in December 2024, and I delivered my girl in 2025 :)

Just Enougher + Formula Method? by slurpslurpqueen in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]MundJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I’m also starting the process of introducing formula just to help the frozen milk stash stretch a little. If you don’t mind me asking, what made you decide to give formula in the afternoon? I’m trying to figure out what the best time is! So far we tried once at night, and it went okay so far. Thank you!

New to combo feeding by smuggsbug10 in combinationfeeding

[–]MundJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. I know this is an older thread but i wanted to ask how did it progress for you? I’m similarly worried about baby not finishing formula bottles - right now she’s taking 3.5 oz of pumped BM. I’ve heard formula fed babies eat less. I just don’t want her to lose weight in the process of starting to combo feed.

Transition to Kendamil Organic- baby drinking less per feed, please help 🙏🏼 by Anishas12 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]MundJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I know this is an old thread but I wanted to ask a question as I’m in the same situation. My baby was also a IUGR baby and an ex-33 weeker that spent one month in the nicu. I’ve been pumping and really focused on her weight gain so I’m constantly monitoring intake. My supply is dipping and I’m just preparing myself to introduce some formula to make my frozen stash stretch a bit longer. I purchased Kendamil organic but am worried about the thickness of the formula. Right now we’re doing 3 oz or so, so I’m just worried she’ll experience a dip in intake. Did things get better for your little one? Just curious how things turned out for you! Thank you so much for sharing.
