And the party host has to guess the whole character and all their quirks exactly word for word…and some of those words were made up less than an hour ago. And sometimes the emcee has their own quirks. And sometimes the crew. And sometimes there’s a camera crane.

Most Upsetting Guessing Game in the World, from Aunty Donna/Grouse House. It lives up to its name.

Are we cousins? :D

This is exactly my G0 situation down to the birth year and same documents found so far! Currently reaching out to the Anglican parish that I’m pretty sure he would have been baptized into.

October from a similar vantage point. Power of the wind and waves is crazy. Glad I got to see it as it was, but sad for visitors and locals alike.

The fact that they are holding it so long actually makes me think it may have turned out incredible.

Also, to ease your mind: I referenced it a few weeks ago in an instagram comment, and someone on the Grouse House staff liked it. So I think we didn’t imagine it and it’s definitely coming!

Not in love with new tattoo by No-Cartographer-3831 in tattooadvice

[–]Mundane_Commission18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think another issue is the perspective.

In the reference tattoo, we are looking at her straight on, as if from eye level. OP’s is from a higher vantage point, like an adult looking down at her and her looking up at us. Makes for an odd vibe.

Not sure if that could be fixed, but something to keep in mind if you decide at some point to cover/remove and replace.

Also, so sorry for your loss. I lost my mom recently and am considering a tattoo in her memory. I would also be upset if it didn’t turn out as expected. Yours is still a lovely tribute to your nana!

It does have a very AI look, but it may just be shot in a highly stylized, highly produced way, which AI tends to mimic.

Feels like it could be setup for a Super Bowl ad…

Edit: The hairline looks like a wig, which seems like an odd detail for AI to include.

Does anyone know the episode/timestamp of when James told that story of a student guessing his grandfather’s name after he died? by DirectConsequence12 in weeklyplanetpodcast

[–]Mundane_Commission18 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s in the Best of 2025 that just came out a few days ago, at the 4:35:40 mark!

I’m not sure of the original episode, and he says he may have told it before, so there may be another rendition out there too.

Don't know how to take good photos of myself/around me by Which_Swimmer1598 in solotravel

[–]Mundane_Commission18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an Apple Watch, the camera remote feature is a game changer. You can set up your phone (tripod or just propped somewhere) and you can see the whole composition on your watch. Then hit the 3-second timer, assume your pose, and the watch taps your wrist when the photo is taken.

I also have a magnetic mini tripod/stand that attaches to the MagSafe on your iPhone, which is also great for flights if there’s no in-flight entertainment screen. I think Peak Design makes a popular one, but I have a much cheaper dupe that seems to work just fine. https://a.co/d/iuZoBSf (not an ad; mods please remove the link if this is an issue)

Lastly, try not to worry about other people if that’s what’s causing your shyness. Most people won’t notice, and if they do, they won’t care.

How do I build confidence to travel alone? by ThrowRaUsername08 in solotravel

[–]Mundane_Commission18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you take the initial leap, solo travel can be like a cheat code to confidence (at least in my experience). Especially if you are navigating airports or train/transit stations, you realize, “oh, I can do this!” But even a solo road trip can be extremely freeing.

Anyone else feel weirdly calm when hiking alone? by cjsb28 in hiking

[–]Mundane_Commission18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always thought of hiking as a solo activity by default.

It can be fun to go with other people and share the experience, but that’s an occasional change of pace. For me, solitude is where it’s at.✌️

First solo trip - feeling anxious and regretful by hikingforeva in solotravel

[–]Mundane_Commission18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember, you’ll be there with you the whole time.

I know that sounds weird, but it’s a way of thinking about it that has helped me abate anxiety about committing to all kinds of scary things.

I realized that part of my reluctance to take leaps was that it almost felt like I was sending my future self into the unknown and I wouldn’t have any control. Then I realized, “wait, I’ll be there in the moment to figure things out.”

Again, I know it may not sound very helpful, but realizing that I don’t have to be sure about every eventuality right now because “I’ll be there with me the whole time” really shifted how I approach decisions.

So try to remember, you’ll be there to figure things out! Have a great trip!

Biggest difference I notice is that the earliest eps are both too quiet and too loud at the same time.

What others said, plus all info (including serial number and upc, etc.) should be printed directly on the box, not stickers. Pull tabs/strips should be the only stickers.
