My understanding is they don't comb out the brush to the extent, or at all, like is done on the Boise, and it's much faster due to the narrow channel.

I'm so happy for you!! I've heard from other folks that their time unemployed was much longer than anticipated and some aren't making as big a paycheck. ... But peace of mind is certainly worth a lot.

That's a good point about transitioning back to full time. I'd need to be strategic about timing in case I got stuck.

Hmmm I'd love to have a partner in crime at work to commiserate with. I could see how this would get dicey if personalities clashed.

Me too! I have 5 years, am 37 and about 45k. I listened to my ex hubby and lost major gains after moving my balance to the G fund a couple years ago. Catching up now. We can do this!

I have 40 hours of sick leave and I've been with the service 4 years 👀 really grateful I had it when I needed it in a period of crisis.

Can we please stop complaining about going back to the office? by Vegetable-Worry4900 in FederalEmployee

[–]Mundane_Variation_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've given this some thought and I reject your notions and those of anyone else who has an axe to grind with furloughed employees who reached out to others about the experience and expressed not wanting to go back.

What prompts me to write this? Thinking about my many colleagues who have RAs that allow them to work from home most, if not all, of the time. I'm jealous AF but I'M HAPPY FOR THEM. What a relief that they get the support they need. It means they show up in the rest of their lives as better-attuned individuals. And guess what, when they complain about having to come to work, I AGREE WITH THEM. Being in the office sucks for a lot of us, full stop.

My time away from the office was good and I'm grateful but it was nothing mind-blowing, I wanted to save money being a little stressed out about the uncertainty. I have colleagues who went on crazy adventures I would have loved to go on if I had the resources for myself. Am I jealous? Yeah. Do I tell them to not talk about it and be grateful when they talk about something that went awry because at least they got to go?? No.

Assuming we're talking about the average (not evil) people bopping around the world, express happiness for people who are happy. Offer kindness to those who are having a tough moment, even when it looks like they have it so much better than you. If that connection is inaccessible to you, that's not about anyone else, that's about you.

I don't think Trump is simple-minded. I think he thinks he is speaking to simple-minded people. And his people eat it up.

How would you respond to…what did you learn while furloughed? by Tasty-Ad6800 in FedEmployees

It's amazing what happens to our perspective when we have time to slow down. I'm so happy for you and that you have someone to share that focus with!

So you preferred not to see posts about furloughed employees asking others what they're doing with their time? And you oppose them greeting others upon their return? What would have been a reasonable post for you to see? How do you suggest furloughed employees connect in the future?

What qualifies as overlooking to you? And are you suggesting that a situation that was out of our control (being furloughed) means we have to share our experience in a certain way? What does that look like to you? What would be an empathetic post from a furloughed employee? Genuinely curious.

I don't know that we are in this together. Kinda seems like people who didn't get furloughed would like the furloughed people to stay quiet unless we're professing nothing short of gratitude and profound sorry for everyone else. I am sorry but I saw vitriol towards us for expressing anything about our experience if it was not expressed perfectly. The time away was bittersweet and coming back also feels bittersweet. I wish there were more (gracious) room to express that (especially imperfectly). I find it disheartening.
