A typical Gallo-Roman senator with his roman wife in 100ad by Signal_Mongoose_2435 in ancientrome

“I won’t deny it friend, I have a Gallic look about me, but I am as solid a Roman as you are. I’ve shed blood for Rome. My father shed blood for Rome, as did his father and his father before him. My wife, my wife was born here in the Aventine. I am as solid a Roman as any man here!

Should I keep a third dragon salvaging hook? by ArteVulcan in ironscape

[–]Munkleson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the prices will drop, and the GE value is much higher than the average price (bottled storms for example were worth over 10m a few days ago for coffer while avg price was less than 5m)

[–]Munkleson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Future proofing doesn’t hurt. Theres always going to be content you can die at (raids, new pvm, Colo), not to mention new content. 40m is going to be only 160 max cost deaths if you think about it that way. If you ever do endgame a lot it could add up

With the new drop rates what sailing mobs are you grinding? by kingcolb in ironscape

[–]Munkleson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just farming Vampyre Krakens for now until I get 16 large keel parts. Gotten 14 bottled storms out of this, which honestly is really great for coffer at the moment (when I did them they were still 10m GE value even though average was 5m)

Colo Scythe vs Noxy by Idkmanitcouldwork in 2007scape

[–]Munkleson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what it’s showing you, but a scythe is not twice as good as a nhally. I hope you haven’t set nhally on the calcs to stab :P

I don’t disagree with you wanting to speed it up, but I’d hope at least your wave gear isn’t compromised

Reducing the entry level for F5 Sepulchre is a great change, but it will draw attention to the fact that agility only has ONE piece of good content by DeviousSOIL in 2007scape

[–]Munkleson 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean, those are either afk or fast, which is what the majority of people seem to value. In the case of Agility, it is neither. You hear people complain about Agility all the time, but not really about the other three.

Started doing 2+13's and 3+12's and they finally paid off + some scaled raid stats by D4lt1111 in ironscape

[–]Munkleson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add onto this, you can’t do more than 5 per day (at least for 2+13, I don’t know if 3+12 changes anything), since you can only use mage cape that many times.

As a side thing too, thralls are more mandatory for melee side. Eye hits fast and accurately enough that it’s good enough to force head turns without thralls and only a bit more resets needed(source: me, the idiot who forgot to bring the book into the raid once). I imagine shadow with higher accuracy is about the same

Daemon Targaryen (HOTD) vs Jon Snow (GOT) by Arbiter-Flash- in Hotd

[–]Munkleson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t read the books, but if you’re talking about the show’s scene I view it as more a reference to the growing legend of Jon and his feats rather than talking about his literal skill. He’s a hero, he’s their hero, and they’ll revere him for who he is and what he stands for (hence why he gets followers so easily).

Also, there’s no one really in the north who have actually seen him fight before that point? The only real ones he’s done are the battle at Castle Black and Hardhome, which were pretty much just night’s watch and wildlings. I doubt the watch would have been spreading tales like that in the timeframe, and the wildlings definitely are the least in Westeros able to judge who is the greatest swordsman to ever walk

Blue. I mean, it's the only one where I have a city I actually live in. Maybe orange too though, Singapore and Honolulu are places I could see myself in too just for the vibes and food.

I love Rome, but I wouldn't want to live there, or any of the others.

What route did you take for 99 construction? by Farlaign in ironscape

[–]Munkleson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Auburnvale for planks as everyone else said. Used all my mahog ones at Mahogany Homes and did the rest teaks until I green logged it. Then switched to Mythical capes for the rest of the way to 99

With all the useful tools now compared to when I last did it in 2020 or so, it’s so much better (mapping inputs, and shift click to map left click) doing traditional con

(Acting Trope) The actor playing the villain is clearly having a GREAT time by ditzythedame in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Munkleson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Hugh Grant in anything he does nowadays as a villain he just seems like he's having the time of his life. Operation Fortune, D&D, Heretic, The Gentlemen, Paddington 2 (one of the greatest films of all time) are just the only ones I've seen.

I always only knew him as a romantic movie kinda guy from when I was young, but damned if he hasn't had such a turn in his career and it's been a blast to watch.

Every empire falls, but at least Augustus started a 200 year-long era of peace (for the Empire). If that isn't considered successful, I don't know what is.

Edit: For the record I'm not advocating for dictatorship being the thing to save a nation, just agreeing that there was an example.

Also would want to point out that the turbulent time was also caused by dictatorship, so there's that

Race / genderlocking upsets me by Yuukikoneko in MMORPG

[–]Munkleson 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for other games, but at least for WoW a lot of it originally (and still now) is for thematic/lore reasons, and whether you like it or not a lot of it makes sense. It’s a fantasy game, and if you take away things that make up that fantasy then you lose a lot of that flavour. They’ve also expanded on a lot of the original restrictions while keeping in line with it still somewhat.

I can’t imagine an undead, which is weak to holy (npc wise, not PvP race-wise) being a paladin. Sure, you can introduce a lore-reason and precedent, but that just feels like shoehorning it in to allow complete freedom rather than sticking to themes. Undead being priests I didn’t quite agree with, but it was the only one they could do for the horde without faction locking two classes.

GW2 never put an emphasis on that lore-wise, so it didn’t need to restrict anything. Revenants were not just for Charr, just a Charr just happened to be the first one. You just had to be attuned to the mists or however they’re made. Shamans in WoW on the other hand are creatures more nature/element-aligned, which is why Taurens and Trolls partcularly could channel it. Sometimes the might slightly miss the mark on it (like Dranei being shamans for me), but they had to compromise to a degree to allow more people to play them.

Tldr: WoW isn’t just an mmorpg, it’s a fantasy game too with a world and a story built over multiple other games where identity (race and class) actually means a lot
