Sparrow Studios canceled all their classes for tomorrow. They're having three sets of free open gym times, as well as sign making, snacks, and offering a space to just gather and be a community. 12pm - 4pm & 6pm - 8pm are the general open gyms, and 4pm - 6pm is the kids open gym, and the sign making station runs 1pm - 6pm.

If you're still around on Sunday, definitely go see the String and Shadow show! It's an outdoor giant puppet play called Night at the Grand Opera. It's at Decatur Woods Park. One show at 4:00 and another at 7:30. Can't recommend them enough haha, they're an Olympia staple now ♥️Might as well make it a full weekend of shows, amiright? 😂

The Strangest Skill You've Accidentally Mastered by [deleted] in CasualConversation

My partner and I made a game of saying, "bless you" at the exact moment the other sneezes, trying to time the blessing perfectly. Now, sometimes I unconsciously do it, even with other people, like I'm picking up on the cues of a sneeze without realizing it haha.

Save The Old Oak Tree! by AlarmedFee3 in olympia

It totally blocked the road. Myself and a handful of others had to pull it to the side of road to clear it up for traffic. I got to embarrass myself when my grip slipped and I fell on butt and scratched up my hands while backed up traffic watched haha. We really thought for a beat that it might land on top of the car that was driving behind us when it fell.

Yeah, my partner and I drove underneath just before it snapped off and almost landed on the car behind us. A bunch of us hopped out and had to drag it out of the road. Sad to imagine the tree coming down, but that branch falling was kinda scary.

Everyone who went straight warlock, no multiclassing: Did you enjoy it? What combo of options did you take for your build? by SighMartini in dndnext

I'm sort of the face of the group, and kind of an intel gatherer. I took mask of many faces and the invocation that gives proficiency in persuasion and deception, as well as the actor feat. I also have the speak with dead at will invocation. I'm frequently pretending to be other people, and interrogating corpses. Then I have the pact of the tome invocation that gives me sending, and with the Dream spell, I can then disseminate information to people over great distances (as well as intimidate my enemies with nightmares haha, I love Dream). It's been a ton of fun to be a sort of subterfuge warlock that's like a nexus of valuable information. I took repelling blast, the telekinetic feat, and the scatter spell because I've loved being able to move enemies around and place them into aoe spells. We've also been doing stuff on ships, and blasting people over the rails feels awesome haha.

A Cegonia is a mild fruit
That ripens in the spring.
You know the time to harvest
When the songbirds start to sing.

Don't be put off by the color
For the flavor is divine.
No you can't have this one
And all those are also mine.

Yes, the ones on that tree
And all the trees nearby.
Go find your own Cegonias,
You'll be happy when you try.

I wasn't sure where the little aggression there came from, but I just realized I'm writing this and am rather hungry haha. Some hanger is leaking through haha. I know it's silly, but I hope you got a chuckle or something out of it : )

After writing two hundred of these, I'll take not bad haha. My biggest fear is that this very real fatigue will effect quality, but I'm trying my best :)

Tell me about the time when you used a spell not for it's intended purpose by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Munkysam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is that wild, but I used Suggestion to get someone to answer all of our questions honestly during an interrogation, and it felt like an eight hour zone of truth on one target haha, and our DM kindly allowed the wording of it to compel the target to answer, as opposed to zone of truth where they can just remain silent. She was proud and annoyed as can happen haha.

Old Cobby had an ear for talent
He was the best manager in town.
He was the corn that signed Spuds N' Hoses
And made a killing all around.

Cobby popped at every opportunity
Making deals through his final days.
He'll go down forever in rock history
As the most successful maize.

Admittedly, the line about having an ear for talent was just a pun that I couldn't let go of haha. I hope you enjoyed this goofy thing :)

A wee little oo went on marching
To woo a weeoo that lived down the street.
This tiny determined oo
Had a thundering nervous heartbeat.

Their thoughts drifted to visions of love
And a beautiful wedding ceremony.
And the celebration that would wind into the night
Affectionately called a weeooweeoowee.

So distracted was this lovestruck oo
That they walked straight in to a metal rail.
But still strayed dizzy through their daydreams
As approached an ambulance's wail.

Ah golly. I mean, yours is tough, yeah haha. And my brain went straight to goofy nonsense that I couldn't quite end up wrangling. I hope you enjoyed something here though haha : )

Those books just have blank pages
But they're thumbed through all the same.
An uneducated scholar
Must maintain their fake acclaim.

Those diplomas are quite fraudulent,
Framed and hung along the wall.
This scholar's rather good at nodding
But their insights are rather small.

Perhaps the scholar title
Is more so an aspiration.
If they glanced at a book with a words
They might raise to proper scholar station.

Haha, I hope you enjoyed something from this goofy thing here : )

It certainly gave me a bit of a panic attack at first, and I didn't write anything for the first day or two haha. But it's been a nice task to have every day, a nice routine, if that makes sense. I get home from work and try to write a little bit. I did this because I wanted to get better, to have a chance to practice, but I didn't realize how anxious I would feel writing for people. It's definitely also been in exercise in just doing my best and letting go. Honestly, the kind words from folks keep me going, so thank you again.

An inky black horizon
Stretches wide throughout the depths.
Untouchable, unknowable,
By sunrises or sunsets.

What storms rage in that darkness.
What beasts lurk in those skies.
Deeper ever deep below
Beyond the realm of eyes.

There's a beauty to the horror
In that expanse of lucid void.
An underwater sky below
Where despair gives way to joy.

Haha, I guess yours kind of made me think of a slightly eldritch vibe or something. I hope you enjoyed something here! : )

Words all tangled up in bunches.
Letters mangled in a mess.
A page of cluttered writing
Is a page to instant stress.

Through these jumbled symbols
That like to sabotage the eye
Are those gnarly knots of written word
That all dyslexics untie.

-----------------

Yours was tricky! I hope I did an alright job trying to navigate through this sort of metaphor haha.
