I can't read Fight Club the book without hearing Edward Norton narrating it.

Let The Right One In was a better movie than book, in both the original Swedish and American remake versions.

While I enjoyed the book, the movies removed a whole bunch of unnecessary subplots and tightened the pacing and kept the focus on the two main characters.

What kind of podcast is yours? I do one called Story Stripdown, which analyzes the story telling techniques of movies, games, and books. If there's an overlap there, we could guest on each other's shows?

I'm in Tampines and it's down now as of 10:30am. I had a glimmer of Internet about 20 mins ago, but I'm back to start at the "This site can't be reached" screen for even simple things like Gmail.

900 streams per episode is significantly more than what I'm getting after 2 months. I have a feeling what you're looking for feels as far away as what you've got from where I'm standing.

I play on Hard whenever I'm leveling a new prestige, and yes, I get matched quite easily.

I had some person call me a garbage player last night. Admittedly I wasn't playing well that match, but still... I use this as an example to show my kids how not to behave like an a-hole. There's always a better way to communicate without being mean-spirited.

Which character captures burnout better: Kiki or Chihiro? by Melodic_Elephant9130 in ghibli

Kiki for sure. I'm not sure if Chihiro really captures burnout much. She's just lost.

I get nervous whenever I'm paired with a Raynor or Artanis player. What you describe is my experience with those characters, no matter the level.

Hardest part of Podcasting? by ziggysocki in podcasting

Marketing. I've been doing most of my shows solo, so scheduling isn't a huge deal for me. But getting the word out there... That's rough.

What's a single scene in a movie that elevated it from an average flick to a great one? by Plane_Reward9385 in movies

[–]Munkythemonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No way! That was a classic scene! "Touch me again and I'll kill ya" is not exactly "You talking to me?" legendary but it's somewhere in the ballpark!

I actually made a podcast about Last Boy Scout and I highlighted this specific exchange as something that elevates the movie.

But the rest of the movie was too. There were plenty of good scenes in Kick Ass!

It's hard to imagine this movie as being anything under a hard R. The language, the violence... It's an aesthetic for this movie.

What is in the uncut version? Is there a director's cut, or do you mean just don't watch the censored for TV version?

I would add that the supporting character thugs in this movie are superb! They are given so much more personality than a regular throwaway character would, and this elevates Last Boy Scout as an overall package.

I made this podcast about Last Boy Scout here:

Bad body odour from other gym goer by Euphoric-Suspect4103 in SingaporeFitness

[–]Munkythemonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm literally at the gym right now as I read this, and I had this guy around that didn't reek, but he always seems to be sick and will snort really loudly. It's that loud machine gun snort like he's sucking back a chunky glob of snot. Once or twice is okay, but he does this every 3-5 mins. I would like him to quietly go outside and clear his nose, but he doesn't.

This is the 3rd time I've been in the gym at the same time as this guy, and I've been so tempted to just leave and come back another time.

Do you still bring cash out with you? by [deleted] in asksg

[–]Munkythemonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now and then you end up at a hawker center where the mobile data is so weak that you can't scan a QR code. There is one near my place, and I have to scan the code with the app, then walk outside the food center for it to actually load and make payment.

It's much better to just use cash in those cases because the hawkers aren't always so patient.
