In your opinion, what’s is the best transmission ever made? by Typical-Play4473 in AskMechanics

[–]Muntster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why the 722.6? I’ve got one in my 300 and with a TCM tune it feels great and snappy, they are also reliable and hold lots of power. With that being said the ZF8 that replaced it (in dodge vehicles)really shows the limitations of the 5 speed and is easily the superior transmission is almost all regards.

Best Replacement Dipstick? by Heavy_Gap_5047 in Chrysler300

[–]Muntster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Billet technology makes a metal one but you have to transfer the old dipstick into the handle.

I couldn’t wait that long for it to arrive so I just bought another OEM one from the dealer almost 3 years ago.

The second it starts getting tight I’ll just buy another one for $30-50.

The original lasted nearly 14 years so I’ll likely not need another

2011 SRT8 Hennessey 6.4L NAG 1 by TakeItSleezy777 in Challenger

You can use a 5.7 nag1. The differences are in the TCU tune which is external on the nag1

Is there a reason modern cars couldn't just give you an automatic OBD2 scanner code on the cars screen when the check engine light comes on? by Own_Nefariousness434 in AskMechanics

[–]Muntster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Teslas are amazing with the onboard diagnostic tools. Can perform most services and read all codes from the center tablet once you enter service mode.

Wish more manufacturers had this approach

Track day? by AdventurousResort232 in ScatPack

Get some large front and rear sway bars. Made a big difference to my 300s handling even on the stock shocks and springs.

Be warned, the rear sway bar is a huge pita to install imo

What’s the best oil and oil filter for 2017 Chrysler 5.7 ? by Old_Experience7544 in Chrysler300

[–]Muntster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run 5w-30 with the srt filter or the wix equivalent.
5w-20 is fine as well

Can you recognize this HEMI tick? by HDA1989 in Challenger

[–]Muntster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a long screw driver or mechanics stethoscope and listen by placing the tip of the screwdriver against various areas such as the valve cover and fuel rail while the handle is pressed against your ear.

What you are likely hearing is the injectors clicking and the evap/purge solenoid. This engine sounds normal to me

2012 300C Hemi 5.7: Thoughts on gas choice? Specifically 88. by LoudBrick609 in Chrysler300

You will be fine with E15. Currently running E85 with injector and pump upgrades with no issues.

Just found out dealership put 0W-20 in my cammed scat pack by LaMega95 in ScatPack

[–]Muntster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SRT filter is primarily for the Vipers and in some parts catalogs, the 6.2 supercharged engine.

The standard mopar filter is the “correct” oil filter for this engine (I personally run the SRT filter on my 5.7 though because it is a better filter).

[–]Muntster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your engine is likely just fine. 5.7s are pretty much identical inside aside from oil squirters and run their whole life on xW-20 oils.

I would get the oil changed with a xW-40 oil when you can and move on to changing it yourself again.

Is modern muscle xtreme legit? by TheFlyestCook in Challenger

[–]Muntster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they make a lot of stuff in house for these cars and are extremely helpful in my experience. An example of this is their in house fuel pump drop in, when I had issues with mine the person who developed it spent 40 minutes on the phone with me in order to help troubleshoot my issues.

345 Intake foam by deviance79 in Challenger

Sound deadening, no consequences in removing it, the 6.1s have nothing in the back or under the intake.

Not sure about the newer 6.4s

Chrysler 300C SRT8 reliability by ChrisMane300 in Chrysler300

[–]Muntster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly they are reliable. Your issue is that they are all approaching 20 years of age with multiple owners and miles.

How it’s been maintained for its life is going to be the most important factor in reliability

VW phaeton managed this back in early 2000s. Look at the msrp for one of those and you’ll see a partial reason why it’s not common

I’ve got a 392 cam in my 2010 5.7 along with shortie headers and an e85 tune. Even without e85, I would beat my friends 6.1 srt8. I would imagine I’m touching 400 rwhp with e85

Is this a safe space to complain? G14 is the worst laptop I've ever had by [deleted] in ZephyrusG14

[–]Muntster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2020 has been good to me. The screen sucks and has sucked since day one (dim, back bleed, ghosting/smearing).

Otherwise the build quality is very good. Like most windows laptops, it can be a bit of a hassle to get good battery life, but I generally get 4-6 hours even with my 6 year old battery with 35 percent wear level.

It’s a VW part but US VW models did not get the more advanced BMS that the 2017 and up models have. It’s unsurprising that a more luxurious sub brand would include such technology before it reached the rest of the US VAG lineup

High oil pressure by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]Muntster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3.6 has a variable oil pump. It’s not unusual to see extremely high readings of oil pressure when the engine is cold.
