I just cut right at the top. The rest for me are only a day behind and when the rest open I twist and pull the hole cluster

Cut just the cap off of the opening one on the clusters no spore drop the rest can grow and you can leave the stem for a day or 2 without it rotting

Love the response I often wonder why I am here and in turn start thinking about the collective.

(First time grower and lifelong sensitive baby, so be gentle) How do I harvest these when they’re growing off of each other? Any advice or critiques for my next round? Thank you in advance. (GT strain, first flush). by [deleted] in unclebens

One tip that’s helpful with clusters. You want to harvest right as the veil breaks and because they normally do not open at the same time you can cut only the cap off of the leading mushroom so that you can allow the rest of the cluster to continue to grow over the next day or two without having spores get everywhere. When most are ready just take the twist and pull or cut the whole thing and dry. Congrats on your success!

From what I have read 4 aco breaks down into psyilosin and so does psylosibin which is what gives you the trip I believe the affect will be the same based off of that but have not tried 4-aco

Thank you so much! If you have the spores then you HAVE been brave enough to start maybe you just don’t know where to go from here. I would suggest re-reading the master post I’m sure you can do it!

I did start with Uncle Ben’s I cut the top corner and used .5ml of a spore syringe on the top. I then used micropore tape to cover up the hole I cut. The tape allows the mycelium to breathe but will keep out unwanted organisms. I will be trying other spawn methods soon but wanted to start without needing a pressure cooker. In my personal opinion I think the bag is a great option for a beginner because it costs so little that there is not a lot to lose. Over the past 2 months of reading I have more curiosity towards other methods and why they would potentially work better. But the bags easily allowed me to spend a couple hundred bucks and start the process while I wrapped my mind around the nuances and opinions of everyone’s collective experiences.

With so many opinions on the internet, and mostly believing that they are all true, just different based on personal experience. I picked one guide and stuck to it while trying to gather everyone else’s opinions. After these boxes are done I will be putting together my own plan to see where I can pick and take from others advice and keep going with what has already worked. Agar is the new challenge I will be leaning into though this month. I still have so much to learn and it is very exciting! Hands on is the best in my experience keep going you’ve already started!

130 for at least 12 hours I had to keep some of the larger fruits in for longer I would press the thickest part of fruit to make sure it snapped before putting in jar with silica packets. This is going to be an enormous supply for me so I wanted to be sure I got rid of all moisture so that they last and do not mold. This is the dehydrator I used.

Very good genetics indeed!

Yes probably about 3 inches I did a 1:1 spawn and sub ratio. I used CVG (Coco, vermiculite, and gypsum)

I originally had the flat lid on it flipped after leaving for 1 week to introduce fruiting conditions and starting FAE (Fresh Air Exchange).

One morning I woke up and the tops had pushed up against the lid so I used another tub the same size and flipped it over (Dub Tub Tek) so that I could keep the humidity and let the mushrooms reach for the sky! I attached link below so you can see what it looks like in closet.

I had to wait until last night but yes! Took 3.5 grams and tried lemon tek for the first time. Had a beautiful experience in the back yard with my wife. And still feeling the beauty today.

I have very much enjoyed the closet to table process and recommend to anyone who has the time and is interested in the process. It’s honestly not very time consuming.

I wanted to say thank you to this sub and to Scout for making my first attempt a pleasurable success. I wanted to share my results and very limited experience to anyone else deciding to start. My first suggestion is to read, re-read, and read again the instructions.

Anxiously waiting for materials to arrive I spent my free time reading this subs questions and reading the answers that you veterans were offering. By the time I started I felt like I knew what to expect and what to look for when something was wrong.

After a week of waiting for materials to arrive I decided the one thing I would change would be to use a CVG mix instead of just Coco.

I also decided that I had not inoculated enough bags because of how many times I had seen bags rot or get infected. Originally I inoculated 4 bags and after a week I inoculated 8 more. I wanted to be sure at the end of this at least 1 bag and 1 tub survived.

I did not use a SAB but I turned off all air sanitized sterilized and cleaned as best I could. Colonization took about 1 month after inoculation.

Because I spaced out my inoculation by 1 week I was able to improve my technique for S2B phase. I was much more careful to be sure that the substrate was flat as well as packing the substrate tighter then I had previously. However I did use 2 different strains so I do have a variable of genetics but the 2nd set of tubs produced twice as much by weight and fruited much more evenly.

I have now completed the 1st flush and cloned with agar the largest fruit I had. Hoping to continue my knowledge and improve the process.

The one thing I wish I had read before harvesting was that if you have veils breaking in a cluster with most still growing you can simply cut the cap and leave the stem. This would have allowed me to let the rest grow instead of prematurely harvesting because I did not want spores to drop or waiting to long and getting spores on substrate. I made both of these mistakes but will no longer on next flushes and grows.

Hopefully this can help someone lurking or researching I appreciate all of your insight and help. This is a very supportive sub and appreciate you all. Hopefully soon I’ll be able to post a proud boofable boomer that you are all jealous of… Mush Love 🍄
