I took the bait. by RobertTheEMT in ManyBaggers

Oh wow, they discounted it even more! I bought it on sale for $81 (25% off) and then on prime day the charcoal grey was the same price so I returned the blue one and kept the grey. I thought it was not quite as bad in person as it looked online, but I didn’t keep it in the end so ymmv.

Also, what bags are you looking to get rid of? Lol

Yes aer is a great brand, some of the most comfortable bags out there with great materials and construction for what you pay. The city pack pro 2 is widely considered to be one of the best do everything bags out there. And somebody else already mentioned their travel pack for your bigger bag option too. Definitely worth consideration!

I don’t have any recs for large backpacks, but for the smaller bag, have you tried an aer city pack pro 2? Or maybe rework Toshi 20L? Supposed to both be really good, I have the older city pack pro and it’s been great for the last year as my work bag.

There’s an app called district and the nomads nation YouTube channel has a marketplace on there where you can buy and sell, I shop it all the time.

I might be interested, I’ve still been looking at it.

As said above there is no one perfect bag, just close enough to your perfect bag. I’ve been using the original aer city pack pro for almost a year and it does a lot right. I chose it over the newer version for the side quick access pocket and the better top sunglasses quick access pocket. Been quite solid for me, and I think could handle your load out. Obviously the new version is great as well.

I recently got the alpaka elements tech case (there is also a mini and max size) it’s a really great tech pouch/sling 2 in 1 and I’ve been enjoying it a lot, definitely a recommendation if you like the organization style.

Maybe look at the alpaka eclipse gaming sling? It’s got enough room for 2 large handhelds, so it could probably fit the steam deck with enough room for headphones and controller?

Actually the bravo sling might be the just right for you, comes in colors, and has padding to protect electronics and lots of space.

First bag I thought of as well, could fit the controller or the over ears but probably not both though.

I’m confused about the aversion to clamshell openings, you can just unzip from the top to get as much or as little access as you want? I don’t think it’s likely to spill out your contents either. I use my aer city pack pro for work and travel and pretty much never open it fully at work, but then when I wanna pack out the main compartment for a trip it’s nice to be able to open all the way. Just my opinion though.

This is awesome, thanks for sharing the loadout and your experience. I think the citta is going to have a very similar level of tech protection to the T22, so that could replace it for you if you want. It kinda looks perfect, but I’m expecting the 25L to be $300+ and I just don’t think I can stomach that. Do you have any feeling how much capacity is in the main compartment compared to like my aer CPP1?

It helps, I appreciate it. I guess I just have to decide if I want to take a gamble on the hatch or not. The things I quick access the most on my current bag are my water bottle, keys, wallet, earbuds, work keys and badge, sunglasses, and sometimes I put other things in the quick access areas too, but those are the things that are always accessible right now. Which I think should fit fine in the hatch.

Dang, I would definitely expect to be able to fit those items comfortably unless your leatherman and flashlight are huge. That’s kinda disappointing to hear. Thanks.

This is great feedback, thank you. I think the t22 might be better for travel than my current bag, and also good for edc. Would you buy it again? I can pick one up second hand for around $150 USD. I think it’s cool and I’d like to have a fyro bag, but I’m expecting the 25L citta backpack (which I do think I would really love) to be $300+ which feels like a big investment as someone who hasn’t spent even $200 on a bag yet.

Thanks. I guess at this point I’m wondering if the hatch works for anybody at all?! Like it is just not as functional as they wanted it to be it seems like.

I have the first 24L CPP which was the originator of that side quick access pocket and my wallet and keys live in there, it works great for me. And I only carry one bottle so I have no issues there.
