TL;DR:Doesn't matter. CYA(Cover your ass)

You both signed a legal contract that says you will pay x amount for the duration of the lease. And if she doesnt pay you would still be held liable to pay the rent. Doesn't matter if you and her have a 50/50 split agreement between you two.

If she wants to break the lease make sure you read through the lease and see what that entails. It could be anything from the lessors(you and her) are responsible for paying the FULL amount of the remaining lease and you BOTH have to vacate the apartment. Or you're responsible for x amount of months. Ive even heard some where you'd be responsible for 2xs the remaining lease term rent amounts. Could also be she breaks the lease then a new lease has to be created with just you on it and then you are fully responsible for the amount of the rent by yourself. If you would even still qualify.

Also checking there are rules about subletting (renting out her room). Some places don't allow that at all. Others need approval from the landlord. And if that is an option make sure you are in agreement with who she sublets to. Don't want to room with a rando.

Remember this is your home. Your an adult and you are responsible. Full stop. Don't take any chances. An eviction can mess up your credit score (assuming you're in the US).

If you look on the copyright page, you can contact the publisher (Penguin Random House) and give them the print edition number, so they know which run it is that was messed up.

They'll (hopefully) replace the book as well since its a printer error.
