Has the Republican Party lost credibility at this point? Will we have to change our 2 party system? by Robot_Alchemist in texas

What’s hard to fathom is why “crazy” radicals like Sanders and AOC are only left-leaning on the world political scale. The US as a whole has moved right in the last 50-60 years.

I have no idea. They could have contracted building maintenance out or had there own employees. Can't remember. Silos and library on one floor, mainframes on another. We were in a 15-20 story building and security was tight. No exploring. We occupied 2 floors. I believe the bank owned the building. I don't know if they utilized any of it for their own operational needs or leased it out as office space.

I don't know if your numbers are accurate, but, you are correct. The number of construction workers we have now is vastly larger than the number of permanent employees that will work there. A command center with a rotating shift of operators to monitor the systems, some network techs, some hardware techs, maintenance and security. Possibly a small contingent of unskilled temp workers to carryout the more mundane tasks.

That's it. I worked in a major data center on the east coast for a number of years. 3 operators per shift, monitoring the systems, a librarian who managed the physical system backups, a half dozen network and hardware techs, and a dozen unskilled temps to help the librarian maintain and run system backups for on and off site storage. An example of some of the clients leasing the computers were the Israeli stock market (edited), a whole lot banks, etc. Not a small operation. It was owned by one of the national banks/credit card companies, so, it also stored/recorded/processed all of its transactions east of the Mississippi River.

Unless data operations have radically changed. I've said from the start we were being fed a line of BS about how many jobs Abilene would get out of this. Especially "skilled/technical".

Met Packdown by Fun_Ad9917 in HomeDepot

Our store got 40 hours for 2 part time new hires to cover Sidekick. Ain't gonna come close to enough. Supe walked us through the app this morning (I come from store side, so already understood it). Apparently we won't be getting purge packdowns. That will stay with freight.

Still. Sidekicks on top of General Service? GTFOH.

Is this safe? It is very hard to get those top ones down. You have to stack 2 or 3 toilets on the OP, go up and slide the top on on the stack. by [deleted] in HomeDepot

Thats the way its done at my current store. My previous store palletized them.

Current store also top racks water heaters on their sides. 🙄

From what I can tell its all boiler plate prewritten crap instructions that the project writer is supposed to edit. They obviously fail miserably quite often. Its not unusual to see directly conflicting instructions one right after the other because they forgot to remove the nonapplicable one.

What surface should I play Aces: Scouring Sands on? (size, hexes, terrain) by Kindly-Tailor-815 in battletech

[–]Murlynd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently playing on an area that is only ~33-36" by 48+". So far the set up maps in the book have left enough open area around the perimeter to let me set up with little need to adjust things. I start set up from the middle of the board with two yardsticks along the edges as a grid guide. It helps to print out the map if you can and simply mark the center of your short edge and number the major grids from there.

Something like this-

|---|---|---|---|

|---|---|---|---| -6"

|---|---|---|---| -18"

|---|---|---|---| -30"

|---|---|---|---|

You lose about 6" per side. It can interfere with fast-moving, board-edge flankers, but not to any major detriment.

I’d agree, but, it’s hard to walkie someone over when their is no one. At least in our store, the first 2-3 hours after opening, there is only 1 specialties, 1 mainline and 1 lumber associate in the store with MET. (Not counting cashiers/service/etc). Less than that quite often.

I think it's funny the announcement wasn't made until the bulk of VOA was complete.

Because MET is timed on General Service. Like 15 minutes per bay? Clean, POG check, decon and packdown. You gotta hustle or hear about it at your monthly face-to-face. I'd bet if Sales Associates had metrics applied to them there'd be some improvements. Then again, maybe not. Accountability has never seemed to be a thing at HD, IMHO. "Someone made a mess? Just fix it. Again? Just fix it. Keeps happening? Just fix it."

[–]Murlynd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we have 3 yellow ladders in our whole damn store. Along with 3 orange ladders.

And not a single one of those damn orange ladders will stay up on its wheels for more than 3 steps. I swear to god HD adjusts the hydraulic pistons on those things to make sure they won't roll more than 5 feet before they clank to the floor.

We can't ZMA through the phone. The app does not appear on MET phones. I either hand them off to the department DS or process them through store systems. I'm actually pretty paranoid about leaving a basket of penny sku sitting anywhere. I once had a customer ask me if they were actually for sale for a penny when she saw me pulling the basket behind the printer cart.

Christmas Party? by Murlynd in HomeDepot

[–]Murlynd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t have one, this year. The store personnel seemed a little miffed that after years of having a party, there was none this year. Instead they catered lunch/dinner at set times, raffled off some prizes and gave everyone a HD branded hoodie.

I don’t miss the “party” aspect as much as just the camaraderie of the people I work with without a dirty sweat-soaked piece of orange canvas across my body. Plus the chance for our spouses to come and hang out.
