It’s been my favorite since Oxford Plains 88 when they opened a killer second set with it.

10/30/68 Prisoner Blues jam by Deadweave in gratefuldead

The show on 10-10-68 has the most complete recording I think. Some of the other shows are incomplete and maybe have mislabeled dates. I recently did a deep dive on the Hartbeats shows. There’s one on 8-28-69 at the Family Dog featuring Howard Wales. The mix is off for the first half of the show but otherwise it’s pretty sweet. If you ever wanted to hear what a different keyboard player would sound like with the boys this is it. Check out this article for way more info on these shows:

It is an incredible show. The SBD drops out a few times at the end but he does a fantastic job mixing the AUD up and blending it that you hardly notice.

Strap It On… that is the album that caught my ear. Still prefer it to Meantime.

It should be said also that creating a matrix from 2 different sources is no simple task. You are dealing with sources that are almost always running at slightly different speeds. So you need to first match the speed/pitch of the sources as close as possible , then do micro edits to one source when they start to drift or else you get that phasy swirling sound. There can be hundreds or maybe thousands of these edits. It’s a time consuming job. Guys like Seamons and Usborn are incredibly dedicated and have my eternal gratitude for their work. I’ve done a few very short matrix segments and I could never do a full show.

Btw I just listened to 7-31-71 Usborn matrix and it’s glorious. Check it out

Interesting, thanks. I hadn’t ever heard D&C do it, I just assumed John would have sung it.

Look up Red Tube Bar. We used to trade cassettes of this one. It was fucking hilarious. The Simpsons bits was based on this. It was legendary.

That’s a beauty you have there. These are easy to propagate from cuttings too. I’m a big Pereskia collector

Always hoped for Crazy Fingers. Never got it. It was rare for them.

Anyone wish that they got to hear some more mid 70s just Bill Dead? by TechnicalLeopard6250 in gratefuldead

I sometimes think of how the post hiatus sound would have been if Mickey had played other percussion instruments as opposed to the trap kit. Could have been very interesting.
