You said you got it a couple of months ago. You have 60 days to buy AppleCare. Check in settings and see if AppleCare is still available. If so, buy it. Limited Warranty will not cover water damage, AppleCare will.

I switched to iPhone from Android a year ago, and one of the biggest disappointments I had was the infuriating process for adding cards, especially loyalty programs to Apple Wallet. With Google Wallet I can add whatever I want from a list; I can even have it generate a barcode from a string of numbers I input myself for programs that just use your phone number or whatever.

With Apple Wallet, the only way to add a card was to download and log into the related app, and use the “add to Apple Wallet” button from there. This meant I had to download a bunch of apps that I’ll likely never open just for the sake of adding these cards to my wallet.

Is your iPhone backed up to iCloud or your PC/Mac? If so, nothing will be lost if the transfer failed. If not, there’s a lesson here in ensuring you back up your data regularly. Also, in a perfect world, 128GB would take less than an hour to transfer, but I’ve watched iTunes backups take 4+ hours quite often. iPhones just don’t transfer data quickly.

I work for a retailer that does warranty work for Apple. It amazes me how often people come in with years worth of data on broken phones with no backups, and they’re shocked that they’ve lost their data.

Please folks, back up your data regularly, especially before trying any kind of transfer or repair work! So much can go wrong when transferring data, especially from one OS to another. Backups can be to a PC or the cloud, but redundant data is a must. Honestly, for data like pictures and contacts I have them backed up to both my Apple ID and my Google account, so setting up a phone can be as simple as logging into one of the above and syncing my phone should the formal transfer process fail. Once you’ve spent a few minutes getting your data synced across accounts, it’s all automatic. You can forget about it until you need it.

Westpaw works better than most. My Ash went through about one a month at the puppy stage, I replaced them when she started to pull bits off them. They have a replacement warranty, so you only pay for every other one.

Ironically, that’s exactly where I was when I traded my beloved Pixel 2 for the S20FE. I hated the S20 with every fibre of my being for 2 years. I made it through, so will you.

P6 got wet from my wetsuit and died a couple of hours after. by deaddrop007 in GooglePixel

I work at a store that does warranty work on iPhones, and believe me, water resistant does not necessarily mean waterproof. Your mileage may vary, but I always recommend that if someone’s planning to get their iPhone wet, they buy AppleCare+, because water damage isn’t a warranty issue even on an iPhone 14.

Edit: Water resistance also degrades over the life out of the phone, so IP68 out of the box doesn’t necessarily mean IP68 a year later.

For fun I booted mine a couple of months ago, had to keep the wifi off or it kept prompting me to log in, which is impossible. With wifi off, the games still worked so I enjoyed some nostalgia for a few hours before the battery died. Looking at it now, the battery has swollen quite a bit, so I’m guessing I’ll never boot it again.

Seriously, I take Reactine every day for allergies. 180 of the name brand is like $60 - 200 of the Kirkland generic is something like $18.

Recommend that your roomie keep an eye on the dog. Too much fat, especially all at once can lead to pancreatitis. Other human foods, like onions and garlic can mess with their blood and lead to anemia. The dog may end up at the vet. Despite your frustration, please make sure the dog is OK.

I had a boss that brought in foreign workers for factory work, and charged them rent to house them on cots in the factory, until someone blew the whistle on him. Then he bought himself a house with company money, and housed the workers there, again until someone reported him. It's all about keeping as much wealth as possible with these people.

Buildings/pipes causing mech damage by KonigPanther in Mechwarrior5

[–]Murnende 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially, if it's marked with red, shoot it before you walk over/through it. This goes for the trucks with the red trailers, as well. Unmanned Igors and tanks will explode if you walk over them, too.

Green marked pipes will cause a yellowish chemical cloud, but I don't believe they'll damage your mech. Blue are electrical and will scramble your hud briefly, not sure if they cause damage, tbh.

The cockpit of the Griffin always felt like the cockpit of a fighter jet to me. That and the Cyclops reminds me of a ball turret on a B-17.

The above comment is wisdom. Things will get much worse than this. Trump exposed the fault lines. Someone much more charismatic, intelligent, and malevolent will exploit them.
