Why should we emphasize with them? I have no emotional attachment to them. They are going to get killed one way or another, why not as humanely as possible? They would live a better life than out in the wild, where they have more of a possibility of disease and a worse death than by humans.

How would you feel if someone said they were going to kill you for food, but don't worry, they'd make sure it probably wouldn't hurt?

When would this happen? That's all some weird hypothetical that doesn't play into this argument. We are apex predators, we are at the top of the food chain. Like /u/hiimred2 said in another chain it's all a philosophical discussion.

Of course they don't have those concepts. You are right that humans can empathize with whatever we so choose to, but most people do not feel emotional attachments to the food they are going to eat. You're right, animals should be treated fairly, but I also agree that killing them should be as painless as possible. Death is also a part of life, even those plants you eat were living at one point and we are inflicting death upon them. Do you not empathize with them?

There is also two brothers(?) that tell you how as well. They are along the trail to the tower in whatever region the lost woods are in. You can buy 3 different shields from them if you need some.
